Castlestorm: Free to Siege Walkthrough [Guide]

There’s not much to do if there is peace between previously warring kingdoms. Still, there are some incidences that would require an iron glove, and it’s up to your hero to ensure that harmony and order continues within the land. At Castlestorm: Free to Siege, players must complete missions using a variety of equipment, and each quest requires a different type of gameplay – which makes it much more interesting than other real time strategy or tower defense games that only requires you to do the same actions over and over again. Prove your might to the king and impress the realm by reading through this guide and playing this highly amusing game now.

Gameplay
Castlestorm: Free to Siege is a tower defense slash real time defense game where in players must protect their castle against different types of enemies such as boars, bandits, and the like. There are also other missions such as training practice or preventing others from escaping your kingdom. With this, the game’s mechanics will switch between shooting, unit deployment, and hack and slash depending on the stage and sometimes depending on the player’s style of play. Equipment pertaining to the three aforementioned controls may be unlocked and upgraded, and there are also coosters and special attacks that can be used in order to more easily tackle missions ahead.

Currency
Coins and gems are the two main currencies within the game. Coins are earned by killing enemies, with more being awarded for making head shots for projectiles and bows as well as for making kill combos. Coins are used for upgrading equipment like spears, units, as well as your hero and spells, among others.

On the other hand, gems are the game’s premium currency, and collecting stars, connecting to Facebook, and rating the games at iTunes will net players with this resource. Gems are also available via in-app purchases, with the VIP package being the best among the bunch as it will provide you with free currencies each week, among other benefits. Gems are used to buy boosters as well as to unlock new slots so that you can bring more equipment during the game. Gems can also be used to buy special attacks and other advantages, so having a lot of it is certainly a good position to be in but is not required.

It is also in the store that players can remove ads that will pop up from time to time. Buying anything at the store, however, will remove this automatically, so don’t bother forking up money just for this perk alone.

Stars
During each mission, players must complete certain objectives. These may include completing the stage within a limit period of time, having high accuracy, making head shots, and many more. Getting stars is very important as it will unlock new equipment that you can use, and gems are also awarded once enough has been collected. It is thus recommended that players go to previously completed stages in order to acquire stars that they may have not collected yet, especially when they have new or upgraded items to use.

Missions
Missions will open up in a linear fashion. This means that missions will only open up once the previous ones have already been completed. Some missions will only allow players to perform one type of action such as throwing projectiles, while others will allow two or all three. Main objectives differ from stage to stage, and these can range from keeping attackers from taking your flag, to preventing enemies from escaping or simply shooting at all targets. Each stage will allow players to earn a maximum of three stars, and failing to capture any stars will cause players to fail the level.

Equipment
Players may unlock and upgrade different types of equipment, although the use of these would depend on the stage that you are currently playing. Equipment will range from projectiles, units, spells, and rooms, and each will serve their specific purpose. Players can bring up to five types of equipment, with the exception of rooms, although the additional two slots will require gems to unlock.

Projectiles can be shot from the ballista, and getting head shots will earn players more coins as well as deal more damage. Special attacks may also be triggered from these from time to time, as it is indicated by blue flames on their respective icons. On the other hand, units range from melee to ranged ones, and upgrading them will increase their attack and health stats. Units would require food to be deployed, and there is a limit as to the number of units that you can deploy on the field at any one time. Food is a resource that regenerates automatically while unit deployment mode is at play.

Heroes, on the other hand, and units that you can manually control in the field. They can attack using either melee or ranged weapons and can also block incoming attacks. There are also spells that can be used that can deal damage to a large area of enemies. Lastly, rooms will allow for upgrades to your castle, such as a larger number of units that can be deployed, or faster food production.

Take note also that projectiles, units, and spells will have a cooldown time, which means that some time must be spent before they can be called upon again. Upgrades, however, may help in decreasing this time, allowing players to activate them more frequently.

Special Attacks
Should things become difficult in the game and defeat seems imminent, players can call upon special attacks that would pretty much clear the field of enemies as well as deal a large amount of damage to the enemies’ castle. There are three types of special attacks, and each of them will cause gems. Use special attacks only as a last resort due to their high costs.

Boosters
For more difficult stages, there are boosters available which would provide for beneficial effects only for the duration of the battle. Like special attacks, there are three types available, and using these will cost gems. An example of a boost is an item that will raise your equipment’s levels by three for the duration of the round. Use these sparingly, as well, unless you have a healthy stash of gems to spare.

Social Function
Like most games, Castlestorm: Free to Siege has a social function where in players can connect the game to Facebook. Not only will this provide you with free gems, but players will also be able to give and receive items as gifts, giving you free resources that you can use in order to be more prepared for upcoming and more difficult battles.
