Card-based battlers come in many forms, but Dragon Coins is in a league all of its own. Incorporating monster collection and management with the simple concept of coin pushing machines, Dragon Coins provides a fresh take on the genre, and this is something that players should definitely try out due to the challenges that this game mechanics entail – as well as the cute characters that you can collect and do battle with. Here’s our guide on how you can become one of the best Coin Masters around.
Gameplay
Dragon Coins is a card collection and battle game where in players can acquire and summon monsters which they could then use to complete missions, which are mainly done by defeating other monsters. In order to do this, players must drop Dragon Coins into a coin pusher machine, and items dropped into the respective monsters’ slots will cause them to attack and to allow for different effects.
Monster management as well as strategic placement of coins is important in order for players to complete missions faster. There are also other factors that will come into play such as elemental affinities and skills, and all of these must be taken into consideration if players want to be successful in the game. The team will be defeated once their collective health reaches zero, and players must take note of the counter above enemy monsters, as this will count down each time they drop a coin and monsters will attack once this timer reaches zero.
Currency
Coins are considered as the basic currency, while Rainbow coins are the game’s premium currency. Coins are earned through regular gameplay, while the latter can be acquired via in-app purchases, among other methods. Coins are used for fusing and evolving monster, while Rainbow coins are used for summoning more powerful monsters, refilling your stamina, and buying items at the store.
There are also Friend coins that may be earned by inviting and adding friends to connect with you. This will not only provide you with an edge during battle as you will have additional allies in combat and may even extra skills to call upon, but Friend coins will also allow you to summon monsters, too.
All of the three currencies mentioned above may also be earned in different ways, such as when logging in daily or when completing missions.
Leveling Up
By completing missions, players will be able to earn experience points. Once enough has been earned, then players will level up. In doing so, players will be able to reap tons of benefits such as having their stamina and courage refilled. In addition, players will also have the chance to have their stamina capacity, monster cost capacity, or friend limits increased. Thus, the higher your level, the more you would be able to do and the more powerful your team can be.
Stamina
Like in most games, Dragon Coins employs an energy system. Stamina is required whenever players want to go on missions, with the resource required depending on the stage. Stamina refills over time, but this can also be refilled instantly by using items or by leveling up. Make sure that you have enough stamina in order to be able to play more, although you can also use premium currency if you have enough to spare.
Monsters
Players can collect and summon different monsters that will then comprise their team. Teams are comprised of four monsters, with one additional slot reserved for friends’ monsters. Monsters have different attributes such as health and attack, and these can also be increased by fusing and evolving. Health is combined as a single unit during battle, while attack prowess is based on individual monsters.
Charge, on the other hand, represents how many Dragon Coins should be dropped into the monster’s slot before they would attack. Monsters also have cost, and players cannot exceed their cost capacity in order to create a tea comprised of rare or powerful monsters. That is, of course, until players are able to level up which would, in turn, cause their cost capacity to increase.
Monsters can be fused and evolved in order to upgrade them. Fusing will involve sacrificing other monsters and spending a few coins so that the target monster’s experience and level can increase. Take note, however, that monsters will only have a maximum level cap, after which monsters can then be evolved. Fusing and evolving will allow players to dispatch of monsters that they do not want, and these can also help in strengthening your team for tougher missions ahead.
Monsters can be acquired during regular gameplay via gems collected, and they can also be summoned using Friend and Rainbow coins. There are also events and quests that will allow players to get rare monsters as rewards. Take note, however, that players can only store a limited amount of monsters in their inventory. Additional slots may be purchased using premium currency or acquired via rewards, and aside from fusing monsters, monsters can also be sold off for extra coins.
Skills
Monsters also have skills that can be called upon during battle. These skills vary depending on the monster, and can affect battle in a variety of ways. These include healing your team, turning all monsters into the same element, or erecting a wall on one or both sides of the platform so that items such as coins and gems would not fall.
Skills will be available one skill cubes have been dropped, and skills that have been activated will only be effective for a limited amount of time. This time limit will depend on the monster’s current level. Players must activate skills once the situation calls for it in order to achieve its full effect.
Elements
In addition to the above, your monsters may also have elemental affinities which may affect how well you are able to battle enemies. Some elements will work better against a certain affinity, while others would be weaker. Take consideration of this especially if you have knowledge as to what type of enemies you will be facing, and also when choosing an ally that will accompany you during battle. As guide, fire is strong against wood, and wood is strong against water while water is strong against fire. On the other hand, light and dark are strong against each other. All other combinations have either a weak or immaterial effect.
Missions
Players can participate in missions which are comprised of different areas. Each area, in turn, will require players to do battle with waves of enemies. Players can earn coins as well as gems, although rewards may not be provided should players fall in battle or quit prematurely. There are also daily missions and special events that are tougher but would yield bigger rewards. The latter mission types will only be available for a limited period and would also require stamina. Regular missions will unlock once previous ones have already been completed.
There are also quests that will be given by Lily, your guide within the game. These are particularly simple to follow, and would teach you the basics of the game. Rewards won here must be collected manually, and players can get the chance to win coins, Rainbow coins, new monsters, and many more via this channel.
Social Function
As mentioned, Dragon Coins allows for players to add others as allies. They may also invite friends in order to earn Friend Coins. Additional Friend coins may be acquired by sending daily greetings. Friend coins are necessary especially if you want to build up more powerful monsters for your team. Thus, the more friends you have, the higher your chance of being able to summon newer and more powerful additions to your team, and at worst, you would be able to use lesser level monsters that you may have acquired as fodder so that you can upgrade monsters that you already have on your roster.
