Dark Souls 2 Enemies Guide - Part 2

Our list of Dark Souls 2 Enemies continues here in part 2, spanning from No Man's Wharf to Brightstone Cove Tseldora!

Dark Souls 2: Enemies in No-Man’s Wharf

Bandit
By the time you reach No-Man’s Wharf the enemies here shouldn’t pose too much of a problem. Bandits are another enemy that is fairly weak but use swarm tactics in order to put you down. In this area you’ll find that they are flanked by their own kin as well as attack dogs, so thinning the numbers ASAP is a good way to start. They also have a nasty tendency to throw lit oil lamps at you.

Dark Stalker

Trying to actually describe what these guys are is somewhat tricky, but you’ll damn sure know them when you see them. Their huge legs give them a big reach advantage over you and their attacks will also cause bleeding in around 2 to 3 hits. Unless you drag them into other enemies you should be only facing a maximum of two at a time – take them out one at a time before they take you down.

Dark Souls 2: Enemies in Shaded Woods

Invisible Soldier

As you can probably tell from the name, these guys can be problematic. Due to only being able to see flickers of their silhouette it’s difficult to nail down just where they are. It’s also impossible to lock onto these guys, so equip your best weapon with a wide swing and hack away until you see their health bar go down. In short – locate and smash.

Lionmen
Lionmen can hit hard and have a good defence, worse still; they like to hunt in groups. It is very advisable to tread carefully and only bait one at a time. Their one major flaw is their speed, therefore they are very vulnerable to backstabs if you can get behind them quick enough. Lure them into an attack, sprint behind, backstab and repeat is your best bet.

Basilisk
While not dangerous in terms of taking health away, Basilisks have a fog breath attack that will rapidly increase your petrify bar. You can usually bait this attack, avoid the fog and just hack away to your heart’s content. There is also a unique huge basilisk in this area that has increased attributes assumedly because of its size.

Dark Souls 2: Enemies in Doors of Pharros

Mastodon Knight
These guys can pack quite a punch. Their attacks include a double swing, a one hit swipe or thrust, and a trunk attack that you should see coming from a mile away. You can dodge all of these easily if you step around them or block while you smack them from the back or side. Luckily like most hard hitters in Dark Souls 2, they are fairly slow.

Rats
Similar to the dog enemies from earlier they won’t cause you too much threat but their attacks are laced with a status effect – toxic. This can be especially troublesome if you run into a group as the toxic bar can fill up quite rapidly. Divide and conquer, fast.

Gyrm Knight
Another enemy capable of hitting hard is the Grym Knight. The main attack to watch out for is its 3 hit flurry which can really cause trouble. Dodging/blocking its other one swing attack will give you ample opportunity to cut it down. These guys also drop the Gyrm shield which blocks 100% physical and fire damage, very handy.

Dark Souls 2: Enemies in Brightstone Cove Tseldora
Hollowed Villagers
Considering the unforgiving nature of the game, sometimes you’ll come across an enemy who doesn’t make Dark Souls 2 difficulty seem so bad. The Hollowed Villagers are testament to this. Deal with them as they come so as not to make it problematic by fighting a whole horde. The Villagers are also one of the Dark Souls 2 enemies that drop titanite shards and chunks.

Spider
There always has to be spiders. Fortunately for you, they are all fairly weak and by the time you reach Brightstone should be very quick to kill. Only dangerous in groups of 3 or more.

Spider Humans
These abominations are as ugly as they are annoying. They don’t hit too hard but are very fast in attacking. If you can help it at all you’ll want to deal with them in ranged combat or at least damage them before you engage in melee battle. Spider Humans are also another Dark Souls 2 enemy that drop titanite.

White Mages
If you spot one of the White Mages, take them down in ranged combat as quick as you can. They will make life considerably harder by hitting you with homing magic while you’re fighting other enemies or simply traversing the area. Their magic doesn’t do a whole lot of damage but the annoyance factor and rate of which they cast at you makes them dangerous. Overall Brightstone Cave Tseldora is a great place to farm titanite as including the previous two enemies; White Mages also drop titanite in Dark Souls 2.
