Asphalt Overdrive Walkthrough [Guide]

The next installment in the Asphalt series of driving games has now come with Asphalt Overdrive. In this game, players must evade capture, perform stunts, and cause mayhem and destruction on the road while driving some sweet looking vehicles. Controls have been simplified, but timing and having some form of spatial awareness is essential in order to meet objectives within the game. Prove yourself to be king of the road in Asphalt Overdrive, and here’s our guide to help you off to a running start.

Gameplay
Asphalt Overdrive is a racing simulation game where in players can purchase and upgrade cars which they can then use to complete objectives given them. Timing is essential as players will have certain requirements to complete in order to clear a stage. These include avoiding cops chasing you, performing jumps and stunts, as well as knocking cars off the road. Rear-ending cars or hitting oncoming vehicles are things that must be avoided in order to not lose your speed.

Currency
Bills and gold are the two main currencies within the game. Bills are used for purchasing and upgrading cars, while gold is used for premium purchases such as buying additional Bills, energy, powerups, and other premium vehicles or decals. Both Bills and gold can be earned through regular gameplay, but the latter is rewarded more sparingly. More gold can be purchased using real money, but this is a completely optional choice.

Energy
Asphalt Overdrive utilizes an energy system, and playing each stage will consume this resource. Energy regenerates over time, and gold can also be used to refill it instantly. Having lots of players join your gang will tremendously help in increasing energy regeneration rate, so look towards this if you want to be able to play for longer.

Powerups
Players can use powerups that will help them during the stages. There are three available, and these include combo extenders which will increase the chances of getting combos which would help increase both scores and nitro boosts, a full nitro meter, and invincibility which would protect you from crashes. These must be used before the stage, and they can be acquired either as rewards or by buying them using gold. Choosing and using the right powerup is essential especially if your current vehicle is not enough for winning a particular stage.

Nitro
By performing stunts and hitting vehicles, players will be able to earn nitro that, when activated, will provide players with a speed boost. More nitro can be earned by performing these actions in quick succession. Rear-ending a vehicle or having too long a gap between stunts or hits, however, will break the chain. Activate nitro whenever necessary, or when you need that quick speed boost during stages.

Vehicles
Several vehicles are available for purchase within the game, and each differ in stats as well as perks. Benefits of certain cars include providing extra Bill earnings, or longer boost times, among others. Statistics such as max speed, nitro, and acceleration may also be upgraded using bills. However, it would often be much better to just buy a better car than upgrading an inferior one. Better cars will be made available as player’s progress through the tiers.

Vehicles can also be customized with decals, vanity plates, and different colors. Special decorations, however, may require purchase, and it is recommended that you only do customizations if you have the Bills or gold to spare and to focus on better vehicles and upgrades first.

Stages
The game is divided into different tiers, and each are divided further into different game types. Different game types will have different objectives, and players will be able to earn up to three stars depending on their performance. The number of stars won in each stage will determine what prizes they will be able to get in the end.

More game modes will open up in each tier as player’s progress through the stages, and each tier will end in a boss battle wherein they will have a chance to acquire exclusive vehicles. Of course, getting new vehicles and upgrading them is necessary as challenges will be much tougher as players progress through the stages. It is also important to note that energy is required in order for players to enter a stage.

Events
Solo and gang events are special events that players can participate in. More or less, players are required to accumulate points which are earned when playing stages and the player or gang with the most points will be able to earn rewards – often in the form of gold and powerups – at the end of the period.

Social Function
Asphalt Overdrive allows players to connect the game to Facebook so that they can see how their friends fare against their personal scores. They can also create and join gangs which are comprised of different players. Being part of a gang will allow you to join gang events and will also help in speeding up the regeneration of energy.

Achievements
Players can try and reach specific objectives that will allow them to earn rewards. There are many kinds of achievements available, and winning these is one of the best ways to get powerups and other prizes. Check up on which achievements you are close to completing and move towards satisfying these conditions if you want to get the most out of the game.
