The following control information was taken directly from the manual that came with the game. The default controller for Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is the Wii U GamePad.

L/ZL – Evade

This walkthrough is designed to help you defeat every boss that is found in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric on Wii U.

===================
SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG
===================
Shadow is encountered in the third level of the game, entitled the Abandoned Research Facility.

Shadow will skate around the area and fire at you from afar. You will just have Sonic and Tails for this battle, but both characters will be attacking at the same time, even the one you arenn’t controlling.

Mash on the attack button and use the homing attack on Shadow as well. When enough damage is done to him, he will tackle Sonic and Tails into an area covered in ice.

When Shadow is red, that means he is temporarily invincible. Wait for him to return to his normal color, and then hit him with a homing attack. Then mash on the attack button to continue dealing damage with him. Otherwise avoid him completely when he is red.

Another scene will play, and then you guys will be in a prehistoric area. Shadow will now have the added ability of teleporting around the little arena that you are fighting in.

When he’s done teleporting around, he will then go to the center of the area and unleash a wave of energy. Be sure to avoid this wave of energy by jumping over it. After doing this, Shadow will be made vulnerable as he will return to his normal colors. Homing attack followed by mashing on the attack button itself is what you need to do to deal damage to him.

DRILLER WORM
============
The Driller Worm will attempt to suck you guys into itself, while robots will attack from the ground and from the air. The air robots, little drones, will attempt to shoot lasers at you. Grab them and then throw them into the mouth of the Driller Worm when it is sucking things in.

Do this enough times and the Driller Worm will become dazed. Pull it down to your level and then mash the attack button to deal damage to it. The Driller Worm will then add a new attack to its arsenal in that it will attempt to simply crush you, so be ready to roll out of the way.

The Driller Worm will also shoot rocks at you as well as reposition itself so it is somewhat harder to throw the drones into it. Just keep at it until you are able to drag the worm back down to you, then beat the ever loving crap out of it like before.

The Driller Worm will start inhaling from a higher vantage point. Ricochet the drones off the bounce pads to your right to make the worm inhale them again so that you can continue the cycle of damaging the thing.

METAL SONIC
===========
Metal Sonic comes in the form of a speed segment. You’ve encountered these speed segments at numerous points throughout the game. Basically, Sonic moves fast down a lane, and you have to avoid obstacles along the way.

The difference with this one is that there’s a lot more obstacles and you also have Metal Sonic to deal with. Metal Sonic will float in the background and attempt to hit you with a variety of objects. Avoid the attempted attacks from Metal Sonic as you move down the lane.

Metal Sonic will try to throw blue orbs at you. These blue orbs will also be encountered on the lane without the electrical property that Metal Sonic is using to throw them at you. Hit these orbs with a spin dash to send them flying at Metal Sonic.

A scene will play once you’ve dealt enough damage to him. Afterwards, the lane running continues with a more aggressive Metal Sonic. Damage him in the same manner as before, by hitting the orbs into him. Metal Sonic will continue to add more attacks to his arsenal, but really just stick to the same strategy you have been using throughout and you will be fine.

EGGMAN
======
Eggman is in a large red robot suit. He will stick mainly to the middle of the area and attack you from there. Run around the outer edge of the area and avoid the missiles he fires. Once he stops firing missiles, pick up one of the ones that didn’t blow up and chuck them at Eggman to stun him.

Then just like with the Driller Worm, you have to yank Eggman down to the ground. At that point, go up and beat the crap out of him by mashing on the attack button just like you did before.

In the second phase, Eggman will move around while attacking, so his attacks are harder to dodge. Furthermore, there are some robots that are spawned that can attack you as well. Avoid the robots and dodge the missiles like before. When you have an opening, grab a missile, chuck it at Eggman, yank him to the floor, and beat the ever-loving piss out of him once again.

Eggman will then start moving around faster and start firing more missiles at you as well. Run away from him and wait for the opportunity to chuck a missile at him just like before. This will be the last time that you have to do this in order to defeat Eggman.

LYRIC
=====
Lyric will be on the ground at first, so take that opportunity to attack him by mashing on the attack button. He will retreat to the sky and spawn robots to cause you problems. Beat up the robots while Lyric is in the air, but when Lyric comes back to the ground, return your attention to him.

Different robot types will be used in the battle by Lyric as you continue to deal damage to him. One particularly annoying one is a large orb robot that will bounce around and deal electrical damage if it manages to hit you. Avoid this robot at all costs.

Once Lyric has taken enough damage, a button will appear above him. Hit that button and then switch to Tails. Use Tails to move across the platforms, but be sure to avoid the obstacles that attempt to block your path along the way. Once you reach the machine as Tails, a cut-scene will play.

When that scene is over, the battle with Lyric resumes. Lyric will now use a large hammer that he will slam on the ground in addition to all of his other attacks that he’s been using so far.

Keep beating on him, complete the QTE when he hits the ground, and then go after the next machine as Knuckles. Then resume the fight as normal. Keep doing this pattern until Lyric has been defeated.
