Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker features a wide variety of levels to complete. The levels are typically puzzles that players need to solve by examining the level from a variety of different angles, accomplished by either rotating the right stick or tilting the GamePad in different directions.

The main objective of the levels is to collect the power star. However, the levels also have bonus objectives that you can complete to unlock stamps, plus there are three bonus gems to hunt down and find as well. This guide will walk you through everything there is to know about each level so that you can get 100% in the game.

THE SECRET IS IN THE STARS
==========================
Toadette has been captured. The journey begins here!

——–1——–
PLUCKY  PASS
BEGINNINGS
—————–
[ ] Collected the Gold Mushroom!

Take note that you can rip the vegetation out of the ground by approaching it and pressing the A button. Do that here to get some extra coins. Round the corner you will see a small ramp leading into the earth, where the first gem can be found. Snag it and then exit the way you came.

Against the wall will be three more plants that you can rip up. They all contain coins, but the third one contains bonus coins. Mash on the A button in order to rip it out properly and get all of the coins possible.

Approach the blue handle and press the A button to have Toad pull it upwards. This will cause the ground to shift and rise so that you can reach the upper level of this area. Grab one of the nearby plants to get a turnip, which is Toad’s main weapon throughout the course of the game.

Walk over to the brick wall that is blocking the way to the next gem. The center of the brick wall has a POW block. Flip the camera around so that it is behind Toad and make sure Toad is facing the center of the brick wall. Toss the turnip by pressing the A button and if positioned properly, it should hit the POW block, destroying the bricks and allowing you access to the second gem of the level.

Walk up the wooden ramp. If you pull the nearby blue handle too early, then you won’t be able to access that stockpile of coins. So go up the ramp and get the coins, then walk back down the ramp.

Go underneath the wooden ramp for coins. Go around the corner to the next blue handle and pull it up. Ride the platform to the top and then approach the blue nerdy Toad. He will give you the third and final gem of the level. You can uproot the plant here as well to get a super mushroom. However, you probably haven’t taken any damage at this point, so you will get 10 coins instead of being given an extra hit point, which is typically the main function of this item in the Super Mario universe.

Drop down and approach the ladder that is right underneat the ledge where the Shy Guy is walking. Take note of the grey blocks. There is one right next to the ladder, and there are three right by the Shy Guy, above you. Start climbing up the ladder now and wait for the Shy Guy to be turned away.

When then Shy Guy is not looking, take a right and go to the plant there. Rip it up to get the pickaxe power up. It operates like if you got a hammer in Super Smash Bros., with Toad swinging it around wildly, and it also makes Toad invincible for the amount of time that the power up lasts.

Use it to defeat the Shy Guy and destroy the blocks that are by him. Then drop down and destroy that block that was by the ladder. It is very important that you do this before the power up runs out because you can’t get 100% in the level if that block isn’t destroyed.

With the block destroyed, go into the door it creates to find the gold mushroom. Climb back up the ladder and pick all the plants here to find a ton of coins. Now all that’s left to do is get the star. Simply climb up to it using the wooden ramp and collect it to end the level.

——–2——–
WALLEYE TUMBLE
TEMPLE
—————–
[ ] Didn’t destroy the temple’s bridge!

You start this level on a bridge that seems to lead right up to the star. You didn’t think it’d be that easy, did you? You can collect all the coins on the bridge, but if you move a step further, the bridge will collapse. This will prevent you from getting the stamp, so just turn around and return to the starting point of the level.

You now have to options for dropping down. One will lead you to an enemy that is shuffling back and forth and blocking the path. The other is on the opposite side of that enemy and poses no danger, so go that way. The platforms in the water will keep rotating, so wait for it to be connected to the ground you’re standing on. Let it then rotate over to the piece of ground in the water where the first gem of the level is and grab it. Return to the rotating platforms and then use them to get across the water. If you do fall in the water, simply go to the ramp near that enemy from earlier and juke past him to return to the rotating platforms.

Rip up the plant here for a super mushroom. Then flip the camera around completely so you can see where Toad is going. Go through the door and take note of the center rotating platform. If you position the camera so that it is facing this platform, you can see that there is a secret room if you walk across this platform and keep moving instead of going through the door in the center.

Go into this secret room. In the center of it will be another plant to rip up, so pull it up and get the gem that comes out. Now return to the center platform and go through the door. You will want to flip the camera back around the opposite way so that you can get a better view, and you should probably also hug the wall while moving up the stairs because it is very easy to fall off into the water, which would force you to climb back out and essentially
start the level from the beginning, which can be pretty annoying.

At the top of the stairs, move the camera back around to the rear. Notice the spinning platform here. Its halves are different sizes, so wait for the big one to be underneath Toad’s feet to walk onto the platform and then to the door right next to where you just were to get a bunch of coins. Wait for the platform to spin back so that you can get back on it and then follow the coin trail. It’s easy to bump into walls here, so be careful about that, and make
sure you don’t linger on the spinning platform too long because if it spins with Toad on it, he will be dropped back down into the secret room from earlier.

Anyway, if you rotate the camera you should be able to see that the next spinning platform has squares cut out in it which are just big enough for Toad to step in. Step into one of the squares and ride it to the top, and then step out at the top when you have the chance. This should put you on the other side of the bridge.

There are turnips up here that you can use on the enemies. This will stun them temporarily. However, if you move the camera to a top-down perspective, then you won’t need to bother with stunning the enemies. From this angle, it is very easy to move right by them and time it so that Toad doesn’t get hit. Grab the gem, then get the star to finish the level completely.

——–3——–
TOUCHSTONE
TROUBLE
—————–
[ ] Cleared course in 3 touches!

This is a unique course in that in order to satisfy the requirements of the bonus objective, you won’t be able to collect all of your gems in the first run. That’s fine, and remember from here on out that you don’t have to do it all in one go for most any of the missions, so if you are stressing out about a particular level, just focus on one thing at a time. Get all of the gems one round, then go back and complete the bonus objective.

In any case, I recommend knocking out the bonus objective first since it’s really easy to do. First you need to tap the pink block. This will shift it so that you can use it as a platform to get on the other side of the blue wall. Then tap the blue wall to be raised up, which will allow you to get on the top of the pink block. Tap the blue block again to lower the star down to your level so that all you have to do is go up the pink ramp and get the star to
complete the level.

Now jump back in to get the gems! For the first gem, simply tap the pink block to shift it. Go to the other side of the blue wall and pull up the plant here to find a key. Leave the key on the ground for now. Shift the pink wall back to its start point by tapping it, and then walk into the door there.

Tap the blue block to raise it. This will allow you to move into a hallway where the first gem is. Return to the pink block, lower the blue block, and then grab the key. Return to the start point of the level and go down the ramp. There is a locked door here that can be opened with, you guessed it, the key that you just found.

Use the key to unlock the door. On the other side of the door will be a gem for you to collect. Return to the start point of the level, and make sure that the pink block is shifted in the position so that the ramp is visible. While standing on the blue block, tap it so that it is raised. Now drop down and there will be a secret little door here that was previously blocked from sight. Get the gem inside. At this point, all you need to do is follow the
steps outlined in the second paragraph to return to the star that you’ve already collected to end the level with your gems all accounted for.

This is the order that you need to tap the blocks though (from the start point) for a quick refresher:

Pink
Blue
Blue

——–4——–
MUSHROOM
MESA
—————–
[ ] Defeated all of the enemies!

A new enemy type shows up right at the start of this level in the form of those fat red birds fluttering around. These birds will attempt to slam down on Toad, so move past them as quickly as possible to avoid taking damage. Around the corner from the bird are two entrances. In the background of one of the entrances is a torch, so move down there.

Toad can move to the left or right down these halls. Both options will lead to rewards. Go to the right to get the first gem, and go to the left to find coins as well as a super mushroom if you lift up the plant there.

Return to the main path and walk into the rectangular stone. This stone acts as an elevator of sorts. Tap it to raise it up so that Toad can reach the new path. There are two Shy Guys up here, but there’s a number of turnips that you can use to defeat them. You HAVE to defeat them not only to satisfy the bonus objective requirement for the level, but to also get the second gem.

Killing the two Shy Guys with the turnips will make the second gem appear. Try to be as accurate as possible and not waste any turnips, as you do have a limited number of them and all of the enemies must be defeated, including those fat red birds.

Get a turnip and toss it at the fat red bird that you encountered at the start. If you aren’t comfortable with tossing the turnip from your current position (you need to be fairly accurate with your turnip tossing to accomplish this successfully), then drop down, bait the bird so that it slams into the ground, and then use those few seconds where it is on the ground to nail it with the turnip. This will take a bit more time, but it will almost guarantee that you won’t miss the bird.

As you can probably see, there are three more stone pillars that can be interacted with by touching the screen. Tap the first two so that they lower, and then move into the middle of the first one. Tap the first one again so that it rises up. This will allow you to move into the middle of the last pillar, the largest of the three. While standing inside of it, tap it again so that it lowers. Whip the camera around to see that there is a secret passage that is now viable for Toad to move through containing the third and final gem of the level.

Get on the top of the pillars, but don’t go for the star just yet. There’s still a bird left to contend with. There are two plants up here with the bird; the closest one contains a turnip, and the farthest one contains a 1-up. To defeat this bird, get the turnip, then bait the bird into slamming to the ground. Nail it with the turnip, then retrieve the 1-up. Afterwards, simply ride the pillars to the star.

THE CHASE TO PYROPUFF PEAK
==========================
Toad’s journey to save Toadette continues!

——–5——–
DOUBLE  CHERRY
PALACE
—————–
[ ] Collected 70 coins!

Grab the cherry power up to clone Toad. Now both Toads will move at the same
time. Get the two of them to stand on the two switches here, and that will
let you get into the hedge maze.

There’s nothing dangerous in the hedge maze, but there’s plenty of coins lying
around, as well as some underground that you need to uproot. The turnips can
also be pulled out of the ground and thrown to get extra coins. Don’t leave the
maze until you’ve collected 20 coins, as that’s how many there are there and
it is prudent in this level to get as many coins as possible due to the
bonus objective requirement.

The first gem is located in the maze. Notice that one of the plants is actually
in the middle of the path in the maze. Approach it and it will start moving
around. Uproot it to reveal a mole, and the mole has in its possession the
second gem.

Anyway, move through the maze and get each Toad to the two switches in it.
This is easier if you have the camera in a top-down view. Activating the two
switches in the maze will open a new path near the start, so make your way
over there, with each Toad at one of the two drop off points. Flip the camera
around so that you can see where they’re moving to, and then drop down with
both Toads.

The switches here will open a path for the other Toad. This is really simple,
just hit a switch (grabbing all the coins as you go), then drop down the newly
opened hole with the other Toad. Hit the next switch, and repeat the process.

A Shy Guy will be encountered on the right side. Just have the Toad fall down
and land on its head to get rid of it. On the left side, you will notice a door
to move through. Go through the door. Rotate the camera if you need to see
better. This door will lead to the second gem.

Drop down another level and you will see two doors in the background for both
Toads. Have the Toad on the right go through his door first. Another mole is
found here. Pull it out of the ground to collect the gem. Now have the Toad
on the left go through his door, and there will be a switch in here that will
let you drop down even further.

Stomp on the Shy Guy on the left side, then have the Toads simultaneously stand
on the next two switches. This will lower a wall in the center of the hallway
that will allow you to reunite the Toads. Have the two of them move together
through the next door, collecting the clusters of four coins apiece as you
move towards the yellow lift with the number 2 on it.

At this point, you should have 60 coins. The lift, in the meantime, should be
familiar to anyone that has played Super Mario 3D World. The number indicates
the number of characters that need to be standing on it in order to activate
the thing. Have both of the Toads stand on the lift simultaneously to make it
rise. Then step off of it and collect the star. The last 10 coins will come
from the clone Toad disappearing in a puff of smoke upon the collection of the
star.

——–6——–
SHY GUY HEIGHTS
—————–
[ ] Slipped past all of the Shy Guys!

Right from the start, you’re going to want to flip the camera up for a topdown
view. You need to avoid being spotted by the Shy Guys. Don’t kill them with
turnips or by bouncing on their heads either. You’re supposed to “split past”
them, not outright murder the poor guys!

The first cluster of Shy Guys are easy enough to dodge. Simply wait for them to
not be looking, then move past. If you are on the top of the hedges, then you
can’t be seen by them at all. Speaking of the hedges, use the ladders to climb
up to them, then drop down to grab the first gem, which is sitting in plain
sight. Then make your way to the wheel that’s on top of the hedges and stand
on it. You will then be redirected to look at the GamePad’s touchscreen.

Spin the wheel that has appeared on your screen. This willl rotate the t-shaped
stone bridge that leads to the next area. Rotate it so that you have a clear
path to the next area, but that the extension of the bridge leads to that
little floating platforming that has a plant on it as well as a nice stack of
coins.

You can be seen by the birds (it’s unavoidable that you won’t be), so don’t
worry about them beyond making sure they don’t smash Toad. Pull up the plant
on the platform for a super mushroom and then collect all of the coins there.

You will see the blue nerdy Toad in a house in the center of the area past
the birds, but don’t worry about him for now. He has the second gem, but we
aren’t going after the second gem for this run through, as in order to get it,
you have to alert the Shy Guys to your presence.

Make your way beyond the house. Climb up the ladder to the next ledge, and
then start climbing up the fort to where the star is. Be careful to time
yourself so that you don’t conflict with the patterns of any of the Shy Guys,
as it would be really annoying to have to start the level over now when you’re
so close!

You can go for the third gem without too much risk at least. On the floor
right before the roof where the star is, there is a lone Shy Guy that will
patrol the area, moving through the tunnels. Simply make sure you’re out of
his line of sight, move down the tunnel, get the third gem, and then time your
climb so that you can get the power star at the top without being seen!

Return to the level. This time when you reach the building with the blue Toad
in it, climb to the top when the blue Shy Guy has his back turned. Pick the
plants up here to get the blue pick axe power up. Kill the Shy Guy with it,
drop down, smash the grey blocks here (get rid of any problem-causing Shy Guys
as well), and then you can move into the house. Talk with the blue Toad to get
your gem.

——–7——–
SPINWHEEL
LIBRARY
—————–
[ ] Collected the Gold Mushroom!

Stand on the spinwheel from the start. Rotate the wheel clockwise once. A gem
will show up ripe for the taking in the center platform (the bookshelf that
you’re rotating). Rotate it clockwise again.

You will now have a clear path to the power star, but you don’t want to get it
just yet. See the little lamp on the side of the stairs? Rotate the camera and
you will see that this lamp marks the locatin of the gold mushroom! Get it and
then return to the spinwheel. Spin it clockwise again and you can walk up the
steps and freely get the second gem, the one sitting there in plain sight.

Spin the bookshelf so that it is back to how it was at the start of the level,
just a flat surface. Follow the coin trail leading to the back of the level.
Rotate the camera around so that you can see where it is going, and it will
lead you right to a big, dark purple pipe.

Push Toad against the pipe and he will move through it. It will lead you to
the bottom of the level. Walk down the steps and talk to the blue Toad to get
the third and final gem of the level.

Now simply return to the wheel by going back the way you came, through the
purple pipe. Spin the wheel so that you can get to the ladder and use it to
collect the power star.

——–8——–
MINE CART TUNNEL
THROWDOWN
—————–
[ ] Defeated all the Para-Biddybuds!

Before dropping down into the turnip cart, rotate the camera so that you can
see the track behind the cart. Ahah. The gem is there, a little stone alcove
of sorts. Now, before you hop down into the cart, let me familiarize you with
the basics of riding in the turnip mine cart in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

Look at the GamePad when you are in the cart, as that is how you will aim.
You can move the GamePad around and its gyroscope can do the aiming, or you
are free to use the right stick to move the reticule as well. Tap the A button
to throw turnips. You will want to throw turnips at collectibles (such as gems
and coins) as well as enemies, POW blocks, and whatever else to be successful
in this level.

Okay, now jump into the cart! Turn around immediately (if you are sitting in a
spinny chair, I highly recommend just doing a 180 and turning around as that is
cool as hell) and throw a turnip at the first gem. Turn your attention to the
para-biddybuds (the flying enemies in this level from Super Mario 3D World)
and take them out as much as possible. Don’t really worry too much about coins
or blocks right now, as they serve only as distractions.

At least until you go down the first hill. After you go down the first hill, a
square structure build from blocks will be seen just off the track on your
left. Hit the base of this structure (the POW block) to destroy all of the
blocks simultaneously, revealing that there was a gem in its center the entire
time. Toss a turnip at it to collect it.

Your work’s not done yet, though. Four para-biddybuds will be circling a
tower of blocks that keep moving up and down on the platform that its on.
The gem is at the top of this tower, so get that while also throwing turnips
like crazy at the para-biddybuds so that you can get the stamp.

Your cart ride is pretty much over at this point. Go down the slope once Toad
hops out of the cart. Don’t get the start just yet, as there are some hidden
coins under the slope you jsut slid down. Get them and then collect the power
star.

——–9——–
SPINWHEEL
BULLET BILL BASE
—————–
[ ] Collected the Gold Mushroom!

Go to the first spinwheel. Spin it clockwise once to reveal a hidden gem build
into the stairs. Get it and then spin the wheel again so that you can actually
use the stairs to climb up to the area where the fat bird is.

Move quickly underneath the bird so that it doesn’t smash Toad. Upon reaching
the next spinwheel (wait to make sure the bullet bills won’t shoot you), spin
it so that they are shooting at the grey blocks directly behind them. Then spin
them again so that there is enough space for Toad to walk on the platform
that they are situated on, and get the gem that was beyond those blocks.

Now rotate the bullet bills again so that they are facing the grey blocks on
the raised platform near the start of the level. Let them sit there so that
they can destroy the blocks while you go about your business collecting the
final gem, the gold mushroom, and finishing the level.

Return to the first spinwheel and spin it so that the stairs in the center are
facing Toad. The bullet bills should have destroyed the grey blocks by now,
but just be careful to avoid being hit by the bullets yourself.

Drop down onto the platform with the two birds flying in a circle. If you
want, you can trick them into smashing into the blocks to get coins and a
super mushroom (located in the block closest to where you landed after walking
off the ledge). Otherwise, go down the steps to the platforming floating the
lava with yet another bullet bill on it.

Wait for the bullet bill to fire one off, and then use the few seconds you
have to spare to get to the spinwheel on the platform connected to the cross-
shaped platform you just were on. Use this spinwheel to aim the bullet bill
at the moving platform with the grey blocks on it. Let it destroy at least one
of the blocks, and then rotate it so the steps are leading up to the door in
the center of the area.

Before going there, use that moving platform that had the grey blocks on it to
reach the third gem. Be careful not to fall into the lava, as that will result
in an instant death. Ride the platform back and now go through the door,
which will lead underneath the larger set of stairs, and in turn lead you to
the final spinwheel in the level.

Use this spinwheel to expose the star. Aim the camera so that you are looking
from behind the two bullet bills. If you keep spinning this wheel, you will see
a small opening with a gold mushroom in it. Stop spinning the wheel so that
you can collect the mushroom, then return to spinning the wheel so that the
power star is once again exposed.

Collect the coins that are shown here as well, and then get the power star
when you are finished.

THE KING OF
PYROPUFF PEAK
——————
COST: 12 gems
[ ] Collected 45 coins!

The first boss fight of the game! Boss fight levels cost a certain number of
gems in order to unlock them. This one only requires 12 gems. If you’ve been
following this walkthrough, then you should have 27 gems right now, so getting
into this level is no problem.

This boss is against a dragon, otherwise known as the King of Pyropuff Peak.
He will inhale and then shoot out a wide-reaching cloud of poison smoke that
will damage you. Use the metal sheets and the rocks to avoid the smoke.

On the first floor, be sure to pull out all the plants as well so that you can
get all the coins possible. The first gem is in plain sight on a little rock
ledge. Let the dragon spit out the smoke, and then grab the gem. Quickly drop
off the platform and move behind it to use it as protection from the next wave
of incoming poisonous smoke. Then climb up the ladder to the second floor.

Make your way to the next ladder (remember to COLLECT THE COINS FROM THE
PLANTS!), but don’t climb up it just yet. If you rotate the camera to look
behind it, you can see that there is a hidden ladder here on a platforming
that is moving back and forth. Climb this ladder and then position Toad not
only to collect the coins while riding this moving platform, but to also get
the gem that is suspended in the air. Two gems down, one to go for this level!

Go up the next ladder. Wait for the dragon to shoot out his smoke, then grab
those coins sitting in plain sight. Pull up the plant here to get a super
mushroom as well. Collect it for 10 coins (if you have taken damage at this
point, it will be wise to start over so that you can meet the 45 coin
requirement for completing the bonus objective in this stage).

Wait for the right moment and then climb up the next ladder. Stand behind the
rock wall and let the dragon shoot his smoke again. Then quickly approach the
plants. Rip them up for coins. The final one will require you to mash on the A
button repeatedly to pull it up, because there is a gem hiding underground
here, not just more coins.

As you continue, the dragon will roar with anger and the lava will start to
rise. Big blobs of lava will start to fall from the ceiling as well. Be sure to
avoid these as well as you continue the big ladder at the end. Climb up the
big ladder for a short cut-scene to play.

When the scene is over, move to the top of the dragon’s snout and then collect
the star.

THE HUNT FOR THE GREAT BIRD’S LAIR
==================================
With Pyropuff Peak conquered, it’s time to find the lair of the Great Bird!

As you are flipping through the book, linger for a bit on this chapter’s page.
An A button icon will appear on the picture with Toad at the campfire. Press
the A button.

Walk forward towards the campsite for an amusing little cut-scene.

——–11——–
PIRANHA CREEPER
COVE
——————
[ ] Collected 70 coins!

Go into the water and in the corner you will find hidden coins. By the way, if
you blow into the microphone on the GamePad, any invisible coins will be made
known to you. Just so you know.

Go underneath the boat now for more coins. Getting the first gem, the one
behind that rock, is pretty obvious. Rotate the camera to see an opening that
Toad can move through. You will want to wait for the piranha plant to retract
before making your move, though. Get that gem now, and then walk up the slope.

A piranha plant will be coming out of the wall here, and there is also a little
critter popping up and shooting projectiles at you. Trick it into hitting the
piranha plant, which will give you more coins. Alternatively, you can rip the
critter out of the ground and chuck it at the plant if you so desire.

You can hop down and land on the piranha plant that was guarding the first gem,
or throw the project shooting creature at it, whatever works for you. Loot
the area by ripping the plants out of the ground, and then rotate the camera
so that you can survey the rest of the scene. You’ll see piranha plants
dropping into the water, a plant that seems unattainable, and a stack of coins
just up a hill from the first gem. Get the stack of coins, then go to the
coin trail that leads to a dropoff into the water.

Collect the coins and then drop into the water. Wait for the piranha plant on
your right to recede into its hole, then make a dash for the gem. Follow the
plant as it returns to its hole, and move beyond it and around the corner.
Time it so that you avoid being hit by the piranha plants that are dunking
themselves into the water. Walk up the slope that leads out of the water to
get the coins there, and then move beyond the palm tree.

You’re at a ladder now, on a ledge that the boat leads up to. Climb up the
ladder. Avoid the projectile from the enemy, then root it out of the ground.
Use it to kill the piranha plant guarding the star and reap the coin rewards.

Stand on the wooden bridge here, on the side closer to the power star. Wait
there until the bridge collapses, allowing you to get to that plant that was
seemingly unattainable earlier. Yank it out of the ground for the third and
final gem.

Go to where the power star is, but don’t collect it just yet. There is a slope
here that leads to what looks like nothing, but if you blow into the GamePad’s
microphone, some invisible coins will reveal themselves. Get all of these
coins, and at this point, you should have 80 coins in total, which is 10 more
than you even need, so that’s good. You can get the star now.

BRINY BOWL
SWIMMING HOLE
——————
[ ] Found the hidden Gold Mushroom!

Okay, so first off, you will start the level right next to a large crate with a
blue handle on top. Take note of the position of this crate. You can go through
the gold pipe for extra coins. It will also lead you right to a trio of fish
guarding three plants on the ground. Rip up the plants to get coins and the
first gem.

Now take the blue pipe up. Walk onto the wooden steps and they will sink to
the bottom, letting you reach the second gem. Collect it and then take the
red pipe up. From the pipe, walk straight forward and off the ledge back into
the water to land on the small crate. Pull the handle to reveal a green pipe,
but we don’t need to deal with that just yet.

Go back up the red pipe. If you trigger just one of the fat red birds, the
other two will follow suit and smash into the blocks. Trick the birds into
smashing the blocks so that you can get across the bridge. Walk off the next
wooden platform to land on the big crate. Pull the handle and ride the crate
back to the top of the water. Get the final gem at this point, the one that
is sitting by itself on a wooden platform.

Drop back into the water and sink to the bottom. Stand where the large crate
once was, and about in the center of where it was as well. If you stand still
here, your controller should start vibrating. This indicates that the gold
mushroom is underneath your feet, buried in the sand! Mash on the A button to
unearth it.

At this point, you are free to go into the green pipe. It will lead you to
great treasures in the form of coins as well as the star you need to complete
the level.

——–13——–
TURNIP CANNON
JUNGLE
——————
[ ] Cleared course using only 1 shot!

You’re going to have to do this one more than once, so you might as well just
go for clearing the course with 1 shot first. To do this, drop down on the
head of the first piranha plant. Then walk down to the blue handle in the far
corner of the level.

Pull on this handle to enter the turnip cannon. The turnip cannon functions
just like the turnip mine cart, except it doesn’t move. Aim it at the grey
block that is impeding your progress to the star. Shoot the block, then make
your way back up to the star, avoiding the piranha plants as you go. Get the
star to finish the stage.

Return to the stage now. Make a break for the turnip cannon and use it to wipe
out all of the enemies from the level. There is also a gem sitting in a circle
in the wall, so shoot it at that, too. This is the second gem. You can also
fire the turnip cannon at the coins here if you are worried about getting a
high coin score as well. If you aim the cannon straight up at the sky, you
will see a block that looks incredibly tiny because it is very far away. Shoot
a turnip at the block to get a secret 1up!

The first gem (you’ve already collected the second gem, getting them out of
order for this stage) is in the ground, where the single leaf is sticking out
of the ground, once guarded by a piranha plant. Uproot it.

To get the final gem, move through the path that is right next to the ladder
that you use to climb down at the beginning of the stage. This leads to a
purple pipe. Go through the pipe to be upside down on the bottom of the stage.
Our old friend the mole is here, zipping around under the ground. Uproot him
and get the gem he is holding. If he is too fast for you, you can also grab
the turnips that are here and stun him by throwing a turnip at him.

With all of the gems collected, there’s nothing left to do except to beat the
level again. Return to the star now to finish this stage.

ONWARD, CAPTAIN TOAD!
=====================
The adventure’s not over yet! Not by a long shot!

——–14——–
POP-UP
PRAIRIE TOWN
——————
[ ] Collected the 1-Up Mushroom!

Approach the first blue handle and lift it to raise the platform. A gem will
also come up with this platform, so drop down to get it, then climb the ladder
to get back up.

There are three blue Shy Guys here. Try to move by them without being seen as
there is little room to move here, so avoiding taking damage from them can be
tricky if they are running after you.

Climb up the ladder. There’s nothing but turnips at the top. Use them to kill
the Shy Guys if you want, but it’s not necessary. Pull the next blue handle and
then drop down and go through the door that comes up with the platform.

Toad will fall pretty far. Walk forward onto the blue platform. Yet again,
this platform type will be very familiar if you’ve played Super Mario 3D World
on the Wii U. You can raise this platform by blowing into the GamePad’s mic,
but let’s not do that just yet. The platform right now serves as a great
bridge through a door. Go through the door and around the corner you will
find some barrels with the blue Toad standing next to it. Talk to him and he
will give you a 1-up!

Return to the blue platform now and blow into the microphone while standing on
it to ride it up. Pull the handle, then drop back down onto the platform. Blow
into it again and go through the raised door. This will lead you outside.

Climb the ladder. Pull both handles up. Go onto the blue platform that moves
horizontal, and then blow into the mic. This will let you get the gem. Take
note of the Shy Guy standing by the coin pile. Move past him when he’s not
looking (be sure to get the coins) and go down the stairs he is guarding.
They will lead you to more coins as well as the third gem.

Go back the way you came. Use the vertical-moving blue platform to climb up
to the final handle. Pull it, then hang tight. If you rotate the camera, you
can see that there are two new blue Shy Guys that are here because of this.
Drop down and then immediately climb the ladder before they can get you.
Afterwards, simply keep climbing the ladders up to the top of the level, where
the star is waiting for you, on the roof behind the Shy Guy sign.

——–15——–
DROP-ROAD DASH
——————
[ ] Didn’t defeat any Para-Biddybuds!

The platforms in this level will turn red and start following down as soon as
Toad touches them, but they will reappear after a few seconds. The first gem
is in plain sight as you move down the platforms, just be sure to get it as
you are going.

For the second gem, move past the part with the three para-biddybuds, and then
take a right at the next chance. Get the gem and move to the far left of the
para-biddybuds and you should have just enough room to squeeze by the yellow
one. By now the platforms should have reappeared, so continue onward towards
the end of the stage.

You will go down some platforms serving as steps. There will be a gem on an
unreachable platform, and across from it a big green cube that you can stand
on safely. Stand on the cube and you will find a bunch of turnips here. Grab
one and toss it across the gap and at the gem to collect it.

Wait a couple of seconds on the green cube and watch the next set of para-
biddybuds. Take note of when they have the largest gap, then make a break for
it and squeeze between them through the gap. From this point, you just need to
avoid falling off the platforms as you make your way to the star.

——–14——–
BIZARRE DOORS
OF BOO MANSION
——————
[ ] Cleared course in 4 touches!

Facing the goomba, to your right is a gem that needs uprooted. Before moving
at all though, tap the door that is ABOVE the goomba. The glowing outline of
the wall that contains the door indicates that it can be tapped on the
GamePad’s touchscreen and moved. Do this now.

Uproot the gem and then side-step the goomba. Go through the door the goomba
is guarding and you will come out of the door that you just moved. Tap that
door again to get it out of your way. Start walking across the stone bridge
and it will collapse.

Forget about that second gem for now; we’re doing this run in an attempt to
clear the course in only four touches! In this next spot, there are three
doors that can be touched. There’s two on the upper level and one on the
bottom. Tap the upper left one (facing the doors head-on), and the bottom
door as well. Walk through the door that can’t be moved, and then you will end
up on top of the bottom door that could be moved. DON’T TOUCH ANY OF THE DOORS
AGAIN as you’ve already used up the four touches. Simply walk off to your
left.

A couple of boos will show up. Walk past them. Also walk past the tower of
goombas with the gem on top. You won’t be able to get that gem either. Go
through the door underneat the balcony. Move down the hall and your controller
will start vibrating about halfway down the hall. As you will recall, this
indicates that a golden mushroom is hidden here. Mash on the A button to get
that mushroom. Continue to the next door to get on the roof.

Two giant boos will be there to greet you. Let them start moving towards
Toad, then go to the nearest door. Go through it to wind up coming out on the
door that’s on the other side of the roof. You now have a clear path to the
star.

Okay, hop back into the level because now it’s time to get those two gems.
Use the paragraphs above to get to the point where the stone bridge collapses.
Tap the door on the upper right, and tap the door on the bottom. Go through
the bottom left door (the one you just tapped) and you will come out of the
upper right touchable door, allowing you to get the gem.

Afterwards, get to the first couple of boos like you did before. Instead of
walking past the goomba tower, tap the door that is above them so that it
slides to the left. Now go through the door near the two boos, and Toad will
walk out of the door from above, right on top of the goomba tower! Let gravity
do the rest of the work as Toad defeats each goomba one by one and gets the
gem that was sitting on their heads for his trouble.

The only thing left to do is go to the end of the stage and get the star on
the roof again.

BLIZZARD ON THE
STAR EXPRESS
——————
COST: 30 gems
[ ] Collected the 1-Up Mushroom!

The cost to enter this stage is 30 gems. If you have been following this guide,
then you should havd 48, so you have more than enough yet again to hop into
the stage and keep the ball rolling.

On top of the first train car at the start of the level are three crates. The
third crate you reach is hollowed out, and waiting inside is a gem to collect.

Move past the enemies and sneak by the two Shy Guys. Work your way to the front
of the train. Enter the conductor room to find the blue Toad again. He will
give you a super mushroom if you approach him. Tap the glowing handle in the
room to make a 1up mushroom pop out of the smoke stack. Exit the room to
collect the mushroom after it slides down to you.

Go inside the next train car. There is a red Shy Guy patroling the halls. Go
into the first room that you can, and then step outside of it. Climb up the
ladder. Dodge the bird, and then drop down onto the blue Shy Guy’s head. Go
into the room he was guarding and on your immediate right will be a sliding
door. Go near it and the door will open by itself. The gem is located on the
other side. You should have two gems in this level now.

Continue into the next car. There’s a bunch of crates in here that can be moved
by tapping them. Move them so that they are out of Toad’s way. Get to the
corner with all the blocks. Tap the blocks to destroy them, revealing a hidden
gem. Get the gem and then proceed to the next train car.

Move in tandem with the enemies down the hall. The second plant here will
actually be the blue pick axe. You can rip it up and use it on the enemies if
you so desire. In any case, exit this train car and you will get the star for
this level.

OPERATION RESCUE TOADETTE

Wingo the Great Bird has snatched up Toad now as well!

——–14——–
WINGO’S
WATCHTOWER
——————
[ ] Collected 70 coins!

Go up the blue ladder. Take a right. Pull the first handle. Drop down and
inside the raised platform will be some coins.

Wingo will basically teleport around to the different sides of the tower and
attempt to blow you off the ledge by creating wind gusts. You can use the
turnips here to stun Wingo, temporarily saving you from having to deal with the
wind gusts. They aren’t so much deadly at this point…just more of a nuisance.

Anyway, keep going this way to the second handle and pull it. The platform will
rise and inside is a gem to get. Climb the next ladder and rip up all the
turnips because you will need the coins. Walk around the perimeter of the
tower and make sure you’ve ripped up all the turnips. You should have 50 to 60
coins now.

Climb up the next ladder. Drop down and there will be a handle, but DON’T PULL
IT YET. If you pull it, you won’t be able to get the second gem. So just hold
off on the handle. Get the second gem, then make your way back around to the
handle, and now you can pull it.

Go around the next corner, picking the turnips as you go. At this point you
definitely do not want Wingo blowing you off the ledge, so watch where he’s
teleporting to. Let Wingo blow the block with the ladder on either side of it
out of your way. Get the coins in the wall here, and then grab onto the ladder.
Wait for Wingo to blow the block back the other way, where it was originally
before you got up here.

This will let you climb up and get the gem. Now attach yourself back to the
cube by grabbing onto the ladder and let Wingo blow you back the other way.
Climb up again and you will reach a walkway that leads to a clear pipe. Get
inside the pipe to properly initiate the boss battle against Wingo!

Wingo will cause three giant turnips to fall from the sky and attempt to crush
Toad with them. Their shadows indicate where they will fall on the pile of
gold that you’re standing on. Try to walk around in the middle of the gold
because otherwise the turnips might fall off or break by hitting the edge of
the tower.

Go to one of the turnips after all three have fallen and mash on A to rip it
up out of the treasure. Toss it at Wingo as soon as he appears. Wingo’s only
attack will be to try to blow you off the tower, which is easily avoided by
lining up with one of the walls that are on the roof. He will also summon
more turnips, but that’s fairly harmless. It is annoying if the new turnips
he summons smash into the existing ones though, because then they will both
be destroyed.

In the second phase, Wingo will teleport faster, but otherwise it’s the same
song and dance. Hit him with another turnip and then Toadette will toss you an
item. The item you get tossed will depend on your current state. If you are
a small Toad, then she will toss you a super mushroom. However, if you haven’t
taken any damage yet, Toadette will throw you a 1up mushroom.

In any case, the strategy remains the same when dealing with the third phase
of Wingo. Hit him with the third turnip though, and he will be defeated.

A short scene will play. When the scene is over, go over to Toadette and pull
her out of the treasure. Collect the star now and the first episode of Captain
Toad: Treasure Tracker will be complete! Enjoy the credits.

NOTE: Upon completing the first episode, challenge times for each level in the
first episode will be posted.

CHUTE SCOOT
SLOPES
—————–
[ ] Collected the Gold Mushroom!

At the beginning of the level, you can climb up to the spinwheel and spin it
so that the red slide is aimed at the floating platform with the coins and
the football player enemy. Trick the enemy into missing his tackle and falling
off the platform. Then collect the coins and climb up the ladder to get back to
the start point.

Leave the big red slide as it is and go down the small red slide. Walk onto
the wooden platforms to find a gem in the wall. Then return to the top of the
big red slide’s spinwheel. Spin it so that the red slide is pointing down to
the blue side. Ride down the blue side and then stop at the next spinwheel.
Spin it so that the blue side continues down the slope. The second gem is at
the end of this slide, so pick it up on your way down.

Avoid the enemies (you can trick the football player into smashing into the
grey blocks if you want a super mushroom) and climb up the ladders to reach
the spinwheel controlling the yellow slide. Spin the wheel so that the yellow
slide matches up with the large, multi-colored slide. Ride it down and hug
the left hand side to get the third gem at the bottom.

When you land here, there will be a lone football player enemy guarding the
star. Juke him and get the star. Note the gold mushroom on the ledge here. We
will have to come back and get it.

Hop back into the level and get to the part with the yellow slide. Don’t use
the yellow slide spinwheel this time. If you rotate the camera, you can spot a
ladder next to the blue side that you can access just before reaching the
yellow slide’s spinwheel.

Go down this ladder to reach a platform that is sticking out and doesn’t have
anything on it. Move the camera so that there is a topdown view. As you can
see, the ledge with the gold mushroom is located directly below you. You can
walk off this ledge to fall down onto the gold mushroom. Do this and then get
the star again.

——–2——–
STUMPER
SNEAKAROUND
—————–
[ ] Defeated all the Piranha Creepers!

Climb up the small yellow ladder. Walk across the flat heads of the stump
monsters, and then step on the switch. This will lower the bridge so that you
can cross over to where the stacked together stump monsters are moving back and
forth. Look at the ground they’re walking on and you’ll see their path is where
there is no grass, so you know how far they can move.

There is a plant here to uproot, and it contains a key. Grab it and then flip
the camera around so that you’d be looking at the backs of the stump monsters.
You can see a piranha plant (or “piranha creeper”, I guess their official name
is) extend out and towards a bridge below. Drop down when the plant isn’t there
and go across the bridge. Drop down off the short ledge and then use the key
on the locked door here to get the first gem.

Follow the short path of coins and drop down to the lowest part of this level.
A mole is moving around down here and he has the third gem. Uproot him and
collect the third gem while you’re down here, and we’ll get the second gem in a
bit.

Climb up the ladders. Walk on the flat heads of the stump creatures to get the
second gem, and then return to the wood platform that you were just standing
on. The piranha plant that was extending out towards the bridge that leads to
the locked door will retract here. Drop down onto its head to squash it and
get rid of it. There’s still two left in this level to kill.

Make your way back up to where you just were, and climb up the ladder to
another switch. Follow the piranha plant as it retracts so you can avoid it
coming back around and dealing damage. Press the switch and then wait for the
enemy to be positioned directly below Toadette. Walk off the ledge to squash
the enemy. Two down, one more to go!

Before going across that little bridge that was brought down from pressing the
latest switch, grab a turnip. Then walk off the ledge of the bridge to reach a
lower bridge directly beneath it. Then turn around and wait for the piranha
creeper to be out of the way before dropping down. If you can time it just
right, you have a chance of squashing it and killing it without using the
turnip, but you’ll want the turnip with you as a backup just in case.

With this third enemy defeated, there’s nothing left to do but to drop onto the
center of the area with the star.

——–3——–
MINE CART
SUNSET RUNDOWN
—————–
[ ] Collected 140 coins!

Before dropping into the cart, change the camera to a topdown view. You will
be able to spot some plants hidden behind some rocks at the starting area. Yank
them up to get 11 coins. Now drop into the cart. Use the GamePad to aim and
hit the first set of blocks with turnips to get coins.

Around the corner, you will find piranha plants ready to snap at you. They are
worth one coin each. The first gem will be right in front of you, but you have
a very short window in which you can hit it with a turnip in order to collect
it, so be quick on the draw.

As soon as you drop, blow into the microphone to reveal some hidden coins just
off the tracks. Collect the coins by throwing turnips at them. Then hit the
row of blocks by nailing the POW block in their center. Before the next drop,
you will see the second gem floating in the distance, so fire a turnip at it to
get it.

At this next part, you will want to move FAST if you are hoping to fully
complete this level on your first go. Ignore the para-biddybuds for now, and
hit the POW block that is in the cube of regular blocks. This will reveal the
third gem. Collect it, and then immediately turn your attention to the large
coin stacks.

The second set of large coin stacks also has some para-biddybuds circling a
POW block. Hit the POW block, but the coin stacks should be your first
priority.

When all is said and done, you should have about 150 or more coins, which is
more than enough to satisfy the coin requirement for this level. Let the mine
cart finish its course, and then Toadette will automatically depart from it.
Grab the star at the end of the level, or check directly across from it to find
a cluster of four coins that you can grab if you are a little short.

——–4——–
SINISTER
STREET  SIGNS
—————–
[ ] Defeated all of the Mud Troopers!

The gimmick of this level is that the path is invisible. The signs dictate
where you can move and where the invisible path will be. Walk straight forward
and then take a left when you touch the sign to get the first gem.

Turn around and walk the other way. Have the camera in a top down position.
There are two signs, one to Toadette’s left and one to Toadette’s right. The
one on the right will be pointing towards a switch on the ground and the one on
the left will be pointing towards a structure with a switch inside. Take the
path on the left.

Drop into the square hole and land on the switch. A cage will rise up with the
gem inside. Drop off the top of the cage and go inside of it to get the gem.
Return to the invisible path and this time take the right way, towards the
power switch and drop down onto it.

Now drop down to the ground and a bunch of zombies, called mud troopers in the
game, will rise up.

Make the football player enemies smash into the mud troopers to eliminate them
all. When they’re all defeated, have the football players smash the blocks near
the switch. This will reveal the third gem.

Take the blue pipe back up so that you can get back on the invisible path.
Walk forward and take the first left. Drop down to the lower portion of the
invisible path, and then walk into the next sign. Take a left and go through
the square hole in the wall. Drop down the next hole and the star will be
right there.

ONWARD, TOADETTE!

Toadette’s adventure to save Captain Toad continues!

——–5——–
FLOATY FUN
WATER   PARK
—————–
[ ] Defeated all of the Goombas!

Follow the coin trail leading underneath the blue structure to get the first
gem easily. Follow the path of the white boards floating in the water to find a
super mushroom and some coins buried in the ground.

Drop into the water (opposite of the side that the goombas are on), and then go
through the blue pipe. Next walk to the red pipe and go through it as well.
Drop through the square hole to hit the switch. This will raise the water in
the area to the top.

Sink to the bottom and go to the gold pipe’s opening. Enter the gold pipe and
keep the left stick tilted to the left. This will make Toadette take the detour
in the pipe, just like how pipes work in Super Mario 3D World. This will allow
you to get the gem. On the way back to the center of the pipe, keep the left
stick tilted forward so that Toadette goes up and exits out of the top of the
pipe.

Don’t take the wood steps, but rather walk up the hill and drop off to land in
an underground area with fish. Avoid the fish and make your way to the back of
this area to get coins and a gem. Then backtrack to the gold pipe and this time
do take the wood stairs.

The wood stairs drop onto those white planks from before. This time the white
planks lead you to three plants. The latter two have 20 coins in them, but
the first one has the blue pick axe. Before doing anything else, bait the
goombas to be charging at you. Then pull out the pick axe and chop away at them
while staying on the white planks. Do this until they’re all defeated. If you
still have some time left in the power up, feel free to sink back down to the
bottom and smash the grey blocks there to get the gold mushroom and snag a
bonus 50 coins for your troubles.

Simply collect the star when you want to be done with this level.

——–6——–
DRIFT-ALONG
CANYON
—————–
[ ] Didn’t take any damage!

Drop down onto the raft (there are coins behind the tree at the start point if
you want them). The raft has two turnips that will constantly spawn. It will
float down the poison river as hammer bros. chuck their hammers at you. The
pattern is they will throw two, and then jump across the river to the next
platform.

Take out the hammer bros. as you move down the river. You will reach a couple
of POW blocks, so hit those (and take out the hammer bro near it) and then step
off the raft onto the area where the POW blocks once were. Go up the slope here
to find a gem behind the wall.

Pull up the handle. Walk past the POW block wall and go through the next door
possible. Uproot the turnip and then return to the POW block wall. Throw the
turnip at the POW blocks to destroy the wall. Pull the handle on the other
side to get to an area with two moles moving around.

The first mole will have a gem. The second mole will have a blue pick axe.
Get the pick axe and use it to destroy the grey blocks. Keep using it on the
plants there to get a ton of coints very quickly. Then follow the line of coins
back down and get on the next raft.

The next raft will continue floating down a poison river, but the enemies here
are different. They are red bullet bills, which means that they are homing
missiles that won’t stop until they hit something, and they will constantly
come after Toadette. Luckily this raft also has a couple of turnips to use so
you can destroy the bullet bills.

You can dodge the bullet bills, but they will circle and come back around. This
can be a helpful maneuver in case you’ve wasted the turnips and they haven’t
grown back fast enough. You’ll also want to nail the POW block in the center of
the formation of bricks to reveal the third gem. Hit that gem with a turnip
to collect it.

Upon surpassing the two bullet bills (they will only come at you one at a time)
you can then climb the next ladder. Climb the next ladder after that as well
and pull the handle. This will reveal a door. Climb back down and go through
the door to get to a small patch of grass. The controller will vibrate,
indicating a hidden gold mushroom. Mash on the A button to collect the gold
mushroom. Now return to where you just came and climb to the top of the steps
to get the star. If you took damage at all during this level, just come back
and try again.

——–7——–
SLIDING SLAB
SHUFFLE
—————–
[ ] Cleared course in 4 touches!

Okay, this stage is going to require you to play through it twice. First we
are going to complete it using just four touches. To do this, don’t touch the
first slab at all. Walk up it and then fall off the side to bypass it
completely.

Before dropping down off the subsequent ledge, tap the bottom slab once. Use
it not just to block the bullet bills, but to get up to the next platform. Of
course, you’re going to need to tap the slab above it out of the way as well,
so that is two touches so far.

Move that upper slab back into position. Three touches. Stand so that Toad is
parallel with the door opening. Tap the slab again. Four touches. The path to
the star is now clear, except for the bullet bills. Wait for them to fire off
and then follow their shots towards the star. They will fire again from behind,
but the bullets shouldn’t have enough time to catch up to you before you can
get the star.

Now return to the level so we can collect those gems and not worry about how
much we’re touching the slabs! The first gem is right in front of the first
set of bullet bills. Keep the slab in front of them so that you can move
forward without getting shot. Then move the slab away after they fire off their
latest trio of bullets. Walk down the steps and wait for the bullet bills to
fire off again. Then move up the stairs and stand directly in front of them.
Tap the slab so that it comes back out and then walk up it and get the gem.
Wait there for the bills to fire again, remove the slab, and then go back on
the other side of it and tap it again so that it can act as a shield and also
get you up to the next ledge (remember you’ll have to tap the slab above it as
well to get it of your way).

Drop down and return to the start. After climbing up the first slab, turn
around. The middle slab will have a secret door in it. Step through the door
and then tap the slab over to the other side so that you can walk out and get
the gem.

For the final gem, you’ll need to get up to the second set of bullet bills.
Tap their slab while standing at the top so that you can get down to the lone
plant in the upper level of this fortress. Pull it up for the gem. Now simply
return to the star and you’re done.

SPOOKY SPECTERS
AT SHADOW MANOR
—————–
[ ] Collected the 1-Up Mushroom!

As soon as the level starts, turn around. Hiding in the dark in the corner is
the blue Toad. Approach him and he will pull out a 1up mushroom and toss it to
Toadette. Collect it.

Now turn to your right and walk off the platform. Avoid the ghosts and move to
the wall. There are two doorways built into the wall that you can access. Go
through the one on the right first. Walk up the slope it leads you to and then
just keep going until you hit the gem. This will be the second gem of the
level, and you will still need to collect the first one.

To get that first gem, drop down and go through the other door that was against
this wall. This leads you up to the ladder that you need to climb to actually
beat the level, but you can use this path to also reach the first gem (though
the second gem that we are collecting in this level).

As soon as you touch this gem, a bunch of ghosts will spawn and start
circling you. Push through the ghosts by moving through the gaps between them.
Climb up the ladder and use the spinwheel. Spin it so that the platform in the
center rotates with the gem directly across from Toadette.

Move towards the gem and once you grab it, just drop down in order to avoid
taking damage from the giant boos. Return to the spinwheel and now spin it
so that the part of the platform that kind of looks like a segmented stairway
is hanging over the star. You’ll either have to juke the giant boo blocking
the way or just push right through it and take a hit. It doesn’t really matter
if you do or not in this level. Drop down and get the star quick, as two more
small boos will spawn on either side of the star as soon as Toadette’s feet
touch the ground.

DRAGGADON’S
REVENGE
—————–
COST: 55 gems
[ ] Didn’t take any damage!

The King of Pyropuff Peak is basically the same as before, except with a huge
lump on his head. Walk forward to initiate a scene with him, and then
immediately turn around. There is an opening you can move through next to
the stairs that will lead you to a gem.

Wait for him to shoot out his smoke, then go to the first spinwheel. Spin it
so the barricade is blocking the smoke from hitting Toadette again. Afterwards,
continue down the path and stop at the rocks. Hide behind them and then go to
the next spinwheel. Quickly spin it so that the platform connect.

Walk across and stand on the blue platform. Blow into the microphone. Drop down
and get the gem there. Hide behind the rock wall and wait for Draggadon to
blow some more smoke. Get back on the platform, blow into the microphone, and
this time ride it to the top.

Climb up the ladder and go to the next spinwheel. Spin it so the barricade is
protecting Toadette. Hang tight near the spinwheel and then when the coast is
clear spin it again so that the next barricade is blocking Draggadon’s sight.
Go to that immediately and hide behind it.

When you can, blow into the microphone to raise the next blue platform. Drop
into the hole underneath it and you can get the third gem. Turn around and
walk up the slope. Climb up the ladder, but wait at the top for a glob of lava
to fall down. Wait for the lava to disappear and then you can continue.

Make a mad rush to the final ladder using the spinwheels and the blue
platforms. At the top, the ladder will fall over and then you can collect the
star off of Draggadon’s nose just like you did before with Captain Toad.

FAREWELL, PYROPUFF PEAK
=======================
It’s time to say goodbye to Pyropuff Peak!

On the page for this chapter, press the A button. You will be riding Draggadon
using Toadette. You can move him up and down using the left stick. You can
also press the A button to spew “fire” (it’s totally smoke!) and use that to
break bricks and the like.

——–10——–
SPINWHEEL
COG RUINS
——————
[ ] Found the hidden Gold Mushroom!

Spin the first spinwheel so that the red cogs are touching and Toadette can
move across them. Don’t go that way just yet, though. Move past the enemy to
the next spinwheel. Spin this one to move the green ones so that you can drop
onto them from that doorway and that they’re touching so Toadette can get
across.

Don’t go across them yet either. Instead drop down below. If you spin the
camera around the level, you can see that there is a chunk missing out of the
side. Go there. The controller will vibrate and, you guessed it, a hidden gold
mushroom is buried in the sand there. Mash on A to get the mushroom.

Return to the start of the level. Go to the red cogs and then go across the
second orange cog. You’ll be able to collect a gem from this balcony here, but
it is the third gem of the level technically. We’ll be getting the second gem
next and the first gem last.

Go back to the red cogs and move all the way to the opposite end of the level
from the start. Move past the enemy and use the spinwheel to spin the orange
cogs. Keep spinning until you see the gem. Now go and collect it. Next up we
need to get the first gem.

Move from this orange cog to the green cogs we moved around earlier. Use the
green cogs to get across to the three enemies that are shuffling around. Pause
between them as you move forward towards the purple pipe. Get inside the purple
pipe and you’ll end up upside down on the bottom of the level. Talk to the blue
Toad for the final gem.

Return to the three shuffling enemies now. Climb up the blue ladder by them and
then get the star.

——–11——–
WINDUP STAIRS
——————
[ ] Found the hidden Gold Mushroom!

There is a lone enemy here, a few floors up chucking spikey wheels at you. He
is slow and so are the objects he’s throwing, so getting by him is not that
much of an issue.

Simply wait for the enemy to throw the object as you move across the bronze
grate. The gimmick behind this stage is pretty easy to figure out. There is a
center piece to it that doesn’t move, and the two outer pieces shift up and
down.

Move to the first shifting piece you can get to. Go down the slope here for an
easy gem, then walk back to the upper part of it, where the plants are. Rip
them up for coins, and then wait for it to go to the “up” position to get to
the middle level.

Go to the second shifting part of the level and ride it down to find the
second gem. Then ride it back to the center and get off. Go on the middle part
of the first shifting piece now. Go through the door and then flip the camera
around so you can see Toadette in there. When it goes into the down position,
a hidden door is revealed. You can follow the path in that door to find the
third gem.

Backtrack now and go to the back of the first shifting platform. From here,
when it is in the up position, you can walk off and gain access to the enemy.
Walk by the enemy, but don’t return to the shifting platform just yet. If you
walk in front of the enemy, while still on the stationary center piece and on
the purple checkerboard tiled floor, you will notice that this part of the
level goes out slightly farther than the rest. Walk to the end of it and, wa-
la! A hidden gold mushroom! Pull that thing out of the ground.

Now walk up the ramp and go to the top-most part of the stage. Wait for the
enemy to throw one of his spiked objects so that you don’t accidentally fall on
it, then drop down from the ledge and land on his head. This will kill the
enemy and afterwards you are free to just grab the star.

——–12——–
UP ‘N’ DOWN
TERRACE
——————
[ ] Cleared using switches 3 times!

Move the camera so that it is in a topdown position. Notice the gem sitting
on the hedge close to one of the dropoff points? Drop off there. Once you hit
the ground, get rid of the enemy by pulling it out of the ground and tossing it
away. Press the switch, and then go to the newly opened area and press the next
switch that you can, after getting rid of the enemy of course, just to be safe.

Walk to the yellow ladder that you can climb, which will let you walk on the
hedges and lead you right to a gem. You’ll also find another underground (uh,
under…hedge?) enemy here. Pull it up and then throw it across the gap to get
the gem and collect the coins that are suspended in the air there as well.

Make sure the brown platforms are down now and make your way to the L-shaped
hedge with an enemy on top. Press the switch here and then climb up the yellow
ladder. Walk across the brown platform and then drop down in the center hedge
to go through the door. Climb up the ladder and get the star.

Afterwards, it’s time to revisit this terrace so that you can complete it
using only three switches. Okay, in order to direct you with this, I want you
to position the camera so that it is in a top-down view. Make it so the door
you have to go through is “south”. This will leave the three openings on the
upper balcony railing that you can fall through, one to the east, one to the
north, and one to the west.

Fall through the hole on the “west” side. There is a switch located to the
north from here, but be warned as you will fall directly in front of an enemy.
Hit this switch and this will make the brown platforms lower. You can now
access the switch that is south of the switch you just pressed. Go there and
press that switch now, which will lower the white platforms and raise the brown
ones.

Climb the ladder on the L-shaped hedge here. Uproot the enemy and walk across
the brown platform. Throw the enemy you just pulled out of the ground at the
next one encountered so you don’t have to wait or dodge any projectiles. Follow
the hedge here until you reach the switch at the end of it, then press it.
This will lower the brown platforms, raise the white ones, and open the door as
well, just like before.

Drop down in the center hedge and go through the now-open door. Climb the
ladder to the middle of the tower and collect the star again to finish the
level.

——–13——–
CLEAR PIPE
PUZZLEPLEX
——————
COST: 60 gems
[ ] Collected 70 coins!

For this level, giving very specific directions in how you should turn through
the pipes and where will probably just inevitably be a very frustrating read.
So instead of doing that, I am just going to give some tips and advice, and
offer general guidance.

The enemies here are spike balls that move in a very specific pattern. There’s
three cluters of them; one cluster on the left side and then two on the right
side. As long as you follow them through the pipes, you shouldn’t have to worry
much about taking damage from them.

The first thing you should do is focus on the two gems on the left side of the
structure. After collecting the first one (in plain sight, just rotate the
camera a bit to get better angles of the clear pipe structure), go for the
blue pickaxe. Head immediately to the next gem, which is blocked between two
spikes. With the pickaxe, you can destroy the spikes and collect the gem. If
you nail some enemies along the way, even better!

The third gem is in plain sight on the ride side as well, guarded by the
longest line of enemies in the level. Just wait for them to go by in the pipe
and then follow them through to get the final gem.

The bonus objective of the level is to collect 70 coins. This is actually not
that difficult to accomplish. For one, there’s a gold mushroom that you can
get just by going through the pipe leading away from the platform that has the
star on it. That’s 50 coins right there. If you manage to get to the super
mushroom on the right side of the structure without having taken any damage
yet, that’s another 10 coins in your pocket as well.

There’s coins dotted throughout the structure, plus you can get coins from
killing enemies with the pickaxe, though that’s not necessary. It’s very easy
to get 70 coins, even if you screw up here and there thanks to the gold
mushroom. There’s invisible coins as well, which you can reveal like always by
blowing into the microphone. I will tell you that from the start of the level,
in those two square shapes of pipes on the left and right, you will find the
coins if you follow the square pattern.

With all the gems and coins collected, return to the platform with the star on
it and collect the star to continue to the next chapter.

MIDNIGHT IN THE
WANDERING WOODS
——————
[ ] Found the hidden Gold Mushroom!

Wait for the stumps to move away from the start position, and then slide into
the gap. Then wait for the stumps to go past again, and leave the gap. Climb
up the small ramp, and then stumps come by again, step on their flatheads.
Ride them over to the raised rock platform, then step off to rip the key out
of the ground there.

Step back onto their heads and ride them over to the slope again. Do NOT step
off them prematurely as they will run right over Toadette and deal damage.

On the slope, position Toadette so that she is directly across from the next
set of moving stumps. Chuck the key so that it lands on top of them. Now walk
down the slope and climb the ladder. Step on the stump heads, but exit when
they walk by the fenced-in gem. Get the gem, and then get back on their heads
again. Pick up the key and then step off the stumps when they get close to the
fence.

Stand a way’s away from the circling ghosts so that the light from Toadette’s
helmet hits all of them at the same time. This will deal damage to the ghosts
and then they will all pop into coins. Collect the coins and then go to the
door there, unlocking it with the key you just found.

Stumps will be moving through the purple poison water found on the other side.
Use them as a raft of sorts to get across to the purple pipe. Go through the
pipe. You’ll find yourself upside-down again, with three moles moving around
underground. Rip the moles out of the ground. Two will reward you with a coin,
but one will give Toadette a gem.

Backtrack to the spot where the ghosts were. Climb up the ladder. Immediately
take a right and go up the slopes. Step on the tall stump heads and then
ride it across to the raised rock platform. Move to the end of this platform
to find a hidden gold mushroom underground. Pull it out of the ground and then
drop off the platform.

This next cluster of stumps will move in an uneven pattern. Wait for them to
move and then go across to the plants. Pull them up to get a super mushroom.
Wait for the stumps to move again and then go across. Ignore the ladder for
now, but check out the side of the stairs that the star is sitting on to find
the final gem.

Now go up the ladder. Carefully make your way across the stumps, collecting
the newly appeared coins as you go. Collect the star to finish the level.

——–15——–
DOUBLE CHERRY
SPIRES
——————
[ ] Collected the Gold Mushroom!

Alright, let’s get the Gold Mushroom right off the bat. Facing the stairs,
go to the right. Go to the far right corner and if you flip the camera around,
you will see an opening. Inside that opening is the gold mushroom. Grab it,
and then get the cherry power-up from the center to make two Toads!

As you can see, a fence separates the two sides from each other. There is a
distinct “left side” and a distinct “right side. Have one Toad go on each side
because there’s switches on either side. Have one Toad stand on each switch to
raise a tower on the right side.

Climb the tower on the right side and drop off onto the other switch over
there. This will create an elevator of sorts for the Toad that is on the left
side. Ride this elevator to get to the next switch, which raises another tower
on the left side. Flip the camera around and you will see the first gem sitting
inside this tower. Get it, and then get back on the elevator.

Walk across the newly-appeared red magic carpet to the tower with the blue
light. Get the turnip here and then walk across to the center tower, where
you will find another switch. Step on that switch to raise another tower on
the right side with a huge ladder on it. Before focusing back on the other
Toad though, be sure to toss a turnip at the coins and the gem that are near
the tower.

Before climbing up the tower, check the side of it for a key that you can pull
out of the ground. Toss the key over the small fence. Drop down with the left
Toad and retrieve the key. Use it to unlock the door that has been sitting in
plain sight since the beginning of the level. Snag the gem inside. Now just
get both Toads to the lift marked with a “2″ and ride it up to the star to
get your victory!

——–16——–
BULLET BILL’S
TOUCHY TRIALS
——————
[ ] Found the hidden Gold Mushroom!

Tap the first block with the bullet bills on it so that it lowers. This will
destroy the concrete blocks impeding your progress. You can raise them
afterwards if you don’t want to run the risk of being hit while pulling up the
gem located underground just beyond where the blocks once were.

Go around the corner. As you near the next two bullet bills, they will start
firing, but don’t worry as they aren’t aimed at you. Let them destroy the
blocks, then tap the block the bullet bills are sitting on so that they shift
to the right. Lower the tappable block that is across from them so that you
can destroy the concrete blocks that was sitting on top of it.

Ride the bullet bill block over. Then make your way to the block that you just
freed from concrete and then step on it and use it as an elevator to ride up to
the next level.

The lone bullet bill that is sticking out of the side of a tappable block will
start shooting at this point, even though it is impossible for it to hit you.
Tap it to lower it and let it shoot through the small opening there and destroy
the blocks. Then tap it to again to raise it back up.

Walk across the next tappable block, the one with the windows on it. As soon
as you walk over it, tap it again to raise it back up. Immediately turn around
and step inside of it to get the second gem. Lower it, step on top of it, and
then ride it up like an elevator. Move through the opening that you unblocked
with the singular bullet bill, but make sure to rotate the camera around so you
can see where you’re going and you don’t accidentally walk off.

Take an immediate left and walk to the edge. Pull the hidden gold mushroom out
of the ground there. Turn around and go around the corner to find a ladder
leading up to more blocks that are in your way. Tap the two bullet bills in
the distance so that they will destroy the blocks. You may have to lower the
lone bullet bill block again as it will sometimes destroy one of the bullet
bills that you need to get rid of the blocks, depending on you’re timing in
the level.

Tap them out of the way so that you can safely climb up the ladder. The plant
in the center here has a super mushroom that you can collect. Otherwise go
across and drop down. Feel free to drop down behind the bullet bill cannons
from the start of the level if you want as well, if you want to get some extra
coins. Otherwise climb up the ladder attached to block right where you just
dropped down, and leave the bullet bills positioned as they are.

Move the camera so it is topdown again. You’ll notice that there are two cubes
below that you can be moved if you tap them. Tap them both so that they meet in
the middle and then drop down and land on them. Bring the camera down so that
you are facing them directly. Go to the one on the right and ride it over to
the final gem. Then return it to the center and this time take the one on the
left.

Get on the ladder and ride the cube straight up. Wait for the bullets to stop
flying and then climb up in front of the cannons. Climb up the next ladder and
tap that cube as well. Collect the star.

——–17——–
SPINWHEEL
SKY FORT
——————
[ ] Didn’t take any damage!

Let’s examine this structure for a moment. As you can see, it has two clearly
defined sides. There is the green side, where you start, and the orange
side. Where they meet is a center block with a spinwheel on it. The enemies
include piranha plants, bullet bills, and the red, homing-style bullet bills
as well.

Ignore the spinwheel for now. You can tap away the bricks blocking the first
gem, which is on the orange side just beyond the first spinwheel, or if you
don’t want to use the touchscreen, you can also trick the bullet bill into
destroying the bricks for you by making it hit one of the two POW blocks that
are there.

Anyway, spin the spinwheel clockside one rotation. If you rotate the camera
around the structure, you will see that the orange side now connects to a
second spinwheel. Make your way there by avoiding the piranha plants (there’s
two turnips here you can use to kill the plants or knock bullet bills out of
the way).

When you get to the second spinwheel, turn it counter-clockwise one rotation.
The next gem is here, guarded by a couple of bullet bills. Let the bills fire
off their cannons, then grab the gem and make it back to the spinwheel. Turn
it counter-clockwise again.

Make your way now to the first spinwheel (the row of plants near the bullet
bills has a super mushroom at the end of them, closest to the cannons, but
the objective of this level is to complete it without taking any damage, so
hopefully you just want it to get some coins) and spin it until you see the
red bullet bill on the orange side, near the second spinwheel that you used.

Go there now and rip out the plant that’s just beyond the red bullet bill to
find the last gem. Return to the first spinwheel and spin it clockwise once.
The stairs leading to the star are now accessible, though there’s three plants
blocking it.

Get the plants to try to bite you, then as soon as they retract, make your
move and zig-zag past them to get to the star.

——–18——–
BATTLE TOWER
BLITZ
——————
COST: 75 gems
[ ] Collected 170 coins!

The bonus goal here means we really need to scrounge for every coin possible.
Go through the clear pipe and then tap the A button to be launched to to the
next area, which is fulled of koopas throwing fireballs. The sliding cover can
be moved to the left or right by tapping it. Blow into the microphone to take
note of the invisible coins tucked in the corner here, but we’re not collecting
them just yet.

Maneuver your way to the blue ladder and then activate the switch. Drop down
on the enemy’s head, and then move the camera so that you can see where the
newly revealing pipe leads. As you can see, if you take a detour in the
clear piping, you can get the first gem. Do that, but then be sure to ride the
pipe to the top of the steps.

Simply walk off and bounce on the head of each enemy as you go down the stairs.
With all the enemies defeated, a bridge will fall down. Before going across
the bridge, be sure you’ve looted this area of all its gold, including those
invisible coins I pointed out earlier.

Go across the bridge when you’re ready and then go into the next clear pipe to
get inside another cannon. Use it to launch Toadette over to an area with two
Magikoopas. As you can see, there are two pipes on either side of this place, a
turnip in the center, and the Magikoopas will teleport to the top of the pipes.

If you move the camera around to the back of the pipes (I don’t recommend you
do this right now due to the threat of the Magikoopas hitting you with their
projectile attacks), you will see that the pipes criss-cross. So if the
Magikoopa is outside the top of the left pipe, you’re going to want to toss
the turnip into the bottom-right pop in order for it to zoom through the piping
system and take out the Magikoopa.

Use the turnip to defeat them both and then blow into the microphone to reveal
some more hiddens coins very close by, just up the blue ladder. Collect the
coins then head to the next clear pipe cannon to be launched over to a safe
area that just has some Toads, coins, and the second gem. The blue Toad will
give you a super mushroom that will equate to 10 coins, assuming you haven’t
taken any damage yet. After looting this place, you should have 95-105 (give
or take a few coins) coins. Be sure to climb down the blue ladder to the right
of the next pipe/cannon combo before going into it, as this will lead you
directly to that gem I mentioned.

Use the next cannon when ready. Walk across the bird-covered bridge and
then go up the next ladder, which is a fairly tall blue one. Up here you will
be bombarded with goombas and hammer bros. Quickly make your way around to the
blue handle and pull it up to get inside of a turnip cannon and use that to
blast away all of the enemies to collect more coins.

Use the turnip cannon to destroy all the blocks in the area as well. This will
reveal the final gem as well more coins. After all of this you should have
hit 170 coins.

It’s not time to get out of the turnip cannon just yet though. You need to use
it to fire across the gap to where Captain Toad and the star happen to be,
as a couple of hammer bros. are there as well. Once all of the enemies in the
area have been defeated by the turnip cannon, the final bridge will fall into
place.

Exit the cannon now and walk across the bridge to reach Captain Toad and the
star. Collect the star to reunite with Captain Toad, and you will be rewarded
with a cut-scene.

ROLLING INFERNO
—————–
[ ] Collected 75 coins!

In Book 3, the ante is “upped”, so to speak. Dragons made of fire and lava
will rise up and arc over the level, going through the two red grates. Move up
the green wheel after the dragon goes by, then move onto the red grate. Quickly
go up the next green wheel, and then step off to your left. Drop down and get
the cluster of coins there.

Move on the blue wheel to be zipped back to the start point. Then just repeat
what you just did at the start, except don’t drop down. Walk across the next
green wheel to collect the coin stacks, then get on the blue wheel to get back
across. After the dragon passes again, go up the green wheel, and at the top of
the wheel, move onto the red grate.

Quickly ove onto the larger green wheel to avoid taking damage from the fire
dragon. Step off the green wheel and onto the blue platform. Don’t blow into
the mic to move it just yet. If you flip the camera around, you can see that
there is a doorway right there. Go through the door to get the first gem. Then
go back to the blue platform, blow into the mic, and ride it to the top.

Switch the camera to a topdown view. Hit the green wheel to get up to the
higher area, and then go to the line of three thick green wheels. Wait for the
dragon to go by, and then move across, collecting the coins as you go. Pick up
the second gem sitting on the grate.

Now return to the green wheels. Blow into the microphone to reveal hidden coins
on the grate that the dragon moves through. Wait for the dragon to be gone,
obviously, then fall on the grate and get the coins. You should almost have
75 coins now.

Get back to the center of the green wheels. Then fall off the other side and
land on the blue platform below. Blow into the microphone and then step off and
follow the path here to get the gem, but be careful as the dragon moves through
this grate here as well.

Return to the blue platform and use it to get across to the star, making sure
that you have the necessary 75 coins.

SEESAW SIZZLE
—————–
[ ] Didn’t defeat any of the Spikes!

Step on the first seesaw, on the half where the spike ball is not hitting.
Then Toad will be launched over the lava. On the next seesaw, force it to a
“down” aiming position, then go through the doors. Uproot the gem, then climb
up the ladder. There’s invisible coins on this ledge. Grab them or don’t, but
then drop down.

Hurry up the ladder so that you can avoid the spike ball. If you don’t care
about going for the bonus objective, you can use the spike balls to launch you
directly onto their heads.

Then drop down and flip the camera around so that you can see where Toad is
going. Through the next door, you will be able to see a gem that is sitting
just in the background. Collect that gem and then continue to the next switch.
Stand on it and it will slide over. Go to the bridge (underneath the seesaw),
and then climb the ladder when the spike ball is not in the way.

Go to the right and uproot the plants. When the ball rolls out of the way
again, go get the gem. Then return to the row of plants. Hurry up the next
ladder, and then the next one after that to go around the enemy and grab the
star.

——–3——–
BEEP BLOCK
SKY PLAZA
—————–
[ ] Didn’t take any damage!

The platforms will shift back and forth. after they flash four times, and
then switch. Walk across the red bridge when it’s there, and then go to the
patch of turnips. Wait for the green blocks to disappear, and then throw the
turnips to the gem.

Wait for the green blocks to return, then use them to go through the door.
Stop on the static platform, and wait for the red platforms to be reactivated,
grab the gem, and then return to the turnip patch.

Drop down when the red blocks are back, and then climb up the ladder. Remember
that you can stay on the ladders even if the blocks they’re attached to
disappear and not have to worry about dying or taking damage.

Anyway, climb up the ladder. As soon as the green blocks return, drop down
and make your way directly to the next ladder. Those coins are a trap because
they are in a position where the lone enemy in the level can easily hit you
with a fireball.

Pause on teh ladder until the green blocks return. Then you can either grab
the super mushroom that is buried here, or make your way to the static block
and wait for the red blocks to return so that you can start climbing up the
ladder.

You will want to pause at the top of this ladder. When the red blocks return
again, walk forward to the next patch of turnips. Pull up a turnip. Be ready to
drop down to the green blocks as SOON as they appear, and then quickly take
out the enemy with the turnip. Turns out the enemy was guarding a buried gem,
so pull it out of the ground after he’s been taken care of.
