Before Adventure Time and Regular Show, there was Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and their crew of looney characters. Even after over half a century, they’re still here and are in fact the stars of this latest endless running style game from Zynga. Looney Tunes Dash! brings the Looney Tunes characters back to life as they run away from their classic rivals in the cartoons. Get to play as Bugs, Roadrunner, Tweety, and many more and go back to simpler times when cartoons were more slapstick and innocent (to an extent!). Here’s our guide on how you can get off to a running start with Looney Tunes Dash!
Gameplay
Looney Tunes Dash! is an endless running style game where in the goal is to complete specific objectives as well as earn the maximum number of points possible. This is done by interacting with the sceneries within the stage, such as smashing crates or jumping over characters making cameo appearances, and collecting the required items like coins, carrots, bird seed, and the like. Of course, as with most endless running games, there are obstacles that must be avoided as a single mistake might make you lose all progress. There are also various abilities, powerups, and other items that can be used to help you out during your runs.
Currency
Coins and Looney bucks are the two currencies within the game. Coins are used for upgrading the effects of abilities and powerups, while Looney bucks may be used to buy boosts, get extra lives, and to replay the game should you fail a stage. Coins are won while playing stages, while Looney bucks may be acquired by watching videos and other offers. Both of these currencies may also be acquired via in-app purchases.
Lives
Looney Tunes Dash! employs a life system where in players must have hearts in order to play. Failing a stage as well as quitting early will cause you to lose a life, and players will have to wait for it to refill should they run out. However, players can also choose to use Looney bucks to refill the number of lives that they have automatically if they do not want to wait, and they can also ask for and receive lives from friends as gifts.
Stages
The game is divided into sections where players can get to play as different Looney Tunes characters. Each stage allows players to win up to three stars, with the first star earned by completing the required task for the stage and the second and third stars depending on the points earned during the run. Players will also have the option to spin a slot at the beginning of the stage which would provide up to three random boosts for players.
Should a player be unable to avoid an obstacle or should they stumble and get caught by the enemy, then have the chance to spend premium currency to continue their run. They also have the option to purchase boosts that will help them out. Boosts such as the helmet which would allow you to crash once without failing the stage are also available by pausing the game.
Players can return to previously completed stages in order to try and improve on their best score and to collect any stars they may not have collected. In some situation, stages also offer alternative paths that are more dangerous but will allow you to complete objectives faster or earn higher points.
Powerups
Powerups are special items that can be picked up during the game to help you out. Examples of these are the vacuum which would suck all coins and other items towards you as well as the Gossamer formula which would transform you into a monster that will then make you invincible for a limited amount of time. These powerups can be upgraded in the shop using coins so that their effects would last longer.
There are also other powerups available within the game such as the aforementioned helmets, or even special items like big coins which will give you more coins than usual. These often come in bare form or as random prizes when picking up mystery boxes.
Abilities
Each character has a specific ability which can be triggered after a certain cooldown period. Bugs Bunny’s ability allows him to destroy all objects within current sight while Roadrunner’s skill would allow him to dash while becoming invincible. Different characters have different abilities which, in some cases, must be activated in order to save them from obstacles in front of them. Players can permanently reduce the cooldown times of these abilities by upgrading them in the shop.
Looney Cards
Looney cards are special items that can be picked up during your run. Each stage usually has one, and sometimes they are in hard to reach areas so players would really have to work in acquiring them. Each character has nine Looney cards, and it features some of their most iconic scenes as well as the date where these episodes were aired. Collecting each set of Looney cards will also earn players one star.
Social Function
The game rewards players who connect it to their Facebook accounts. Aside from being able to compete with friends on as to who would be able to get the highest scores, players can also request for lives so that they would not have to wait or spend premium currency in order to keep on playing. Use this feature if you are serious about playing the game and maximizing your playing time.
