Rovio has officially confirmed that they are ready to launch the sequel for one of the game titles that changed the smartphone gaming world permanently.
Angry Birds 2 is coming, whether you want it or not and it even has a confirmed release date, July 30.
When the iOS devices got launched, including the iPhone and iPad, the original Angry Birds was a phenomenal achievement. It helped the players in wasting a lot of precious man hours. People just couldn’t get off their phones and tablets. For some reason, the simple slingshot game managed to grab the attention of people of all age groups, right from young children to old adults who have never seen such a gadget in the past. All you have to do is to swing your birds and kill those pigs who are conveniently perched on top of the blocks in a wide range of levels.
A Phenomenal Achievement
Without a doubt, Rovio is extremely positive about their Angry Birds franchise. They and many of the players believed that this could be the Super Mario that made Nintendo popular in the first place. It was a good game and also changed the smartphone gaming arena. But, it didn’t become a historical achievement mainly because Rovio started milking the franchise to the core. They were releasing a game every three months, just like how Activision releases a Call of Duty title every year. No one was there to stop them and the games performed mediocre in the app stores.
The developer claimed that they have over three billion downloads, which easily warrants Angry Birds 2. While some of them are fed up of it, a whole new generation of gamers have come in the past few years who might find the title still interesting. Clash of Clans and Candy Crush Saga are all that they know, which might change if the new game is as good as they claim it would be.
Unconfirmed Features
There is no word on how the new Angry Birds 2 will look or play. Rovio has kept everything secret even though the release date is really close. The company wants to make it a surprise launch on July 30 when you should be able to download it, both on the iOS and Android devices. Let’s just hope it is a decent game rather than being a flop. After all, it might be tough to see a nice franchise going down, right?
