Act 2 - Mission 5 - Hepcat's Late-Night Special
It’s time for another of Floyd’s night defense missions, and this time it’s going to be a bit more difficult than the first one you took on.
The first order of business is to setup traps and turn the valve. You’ll also notice few new traps in your arsenal, but after a bit of careful analyzing we decided it best to stick with the Hack ‘n Slay that we used to effectively the first go around. If it isn’t broke why fix it? Since they require about 20 power each you should be able to lay around five of them around the base before you turn the valve to kick this party off.
Tip: This mission is nowhere near as easy as the last defense mission was. We highly suggest picking up a new weapon or two if you have the ability to. We found the Acid Sprinkler and Freeze Bombs to be very useful weapons for dealing with the large batches of foes swarming the base.
Once you’ve turned the valve you’ll need to protect the Overcharge for a full four minutes. To complete this we decided to grind the power lines and start things off with the TNTeddy. Your best bet is to aim at the center of OD clusters and let the teddy bear bombs fly. Remember to focus on the enemies closest to your Overcharge vats, and then move on to the groups that haven’t broken into the base yet.
Tip: You’re going to be dealing with swarms of Blowers, Herkers, Poppers, and even a Gunker. Hold nothing back, and make sure to equip the most deadly weapons you can. Don’t worry about wasting ammo, there will be time to restock later at Two Hat Jack’s.
As with any of these defense missions your main purpose is to survive the onslaught of OD with as much Overcharge left as possible. Once the second wave of enemies starts pouring in you’ll want to make sure your traps are all good to go, and feel free to toss some Acid Sprinklers down in order to wear down the ranks. As we mentioned in our first Tip the Freeze Bomb is a great weapon to make us of, as you can freeze enemies in large clusters and then take them out with ground smashes or even TNTeddy.
Once you’ve fought off the war waging OD it’s time to get the amps from the amp chamber and finish things off.
