Combat in the world of Destiny is mostly conducted using guns and magic but each guardian also has a special ability which when activated allows the player to unleash powerful attacks. Each super ability as they are called is subclass specific which in turn is class specific so it is vital to know which abilities your guardians class will use and how.
Super abilities aalso need to be recharged after using them on an oponent and the words “Super Charged” appear on the screen whenever this occurs. The abilities themselves can be recharged by Orbs of light, which are shining collectable orbs which are dropped by other guardians when they use their super abilities. This occurrence can be taken advantage of in Strike missions to help provide a cooperative element in the fireteams or during battle in the crucible. Super abilities can also be charged by killing enemies and performing particular actions in-game. Each class is limited to two super abilities but only one can be active at any given time due to the subclass system.
Hunters:
Gunlinger Subclass: Ghost Gun
This ability allowes the Guardian to summon a powerful and rather large golden gun which is a hand cannon capable of causing lots of damage against enemies and even one hit kills. The ghost gun only fires three shots before it needs to be recharged and will go as soon as the super bar drains fully.
Bladedancer subclass: Arc Blade
The arc blade powers up the guardian and their knife with energy and then darts towards any enemies in their range attacking them with the knife. Any targets hit by this attack will be enveloped in Arc energy and killed immediately.
Warlocks:
Sunsinger subclass: Radiance
This ability allows the guardian using it to emit a glowing forcefield aroung them which not only revives allies but also makes them stronger. This ability is perfect for Strike missions as it can be the difference between a win and a lost against the stronger opponents. Radiance can also be used to self revive when downed.
Voidwalker subclass: Nova Bomb
This ability gives your guardian the ability to draw power from the Traveller and turn it into a ball of energy that can be launched at opponents. The balls explode on impact causing heavy damage and quite possibly death of multiple enemies.
Titans
Striker Subclass: Fist of Havoc
Using this super ability causes the guardian to jump up and land with a force so powerful it causes a blue energy shockwave that heavily damages any enemies within a certain radius.
Defender Subclass: Ward of Dawn
The ward of dawn gives your guardian an indestructible shield which protects you from damage. Not only does it protect you but you can also protect any allies in your striketeam from harm.
Figuring out the best situations to use these abilities in is the difference between being a good player and a great player. These abilities can change the tide of battle in mere moments when used correctly by giving your team members a boost to their supers as well.
