Guide to The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth for iOS and Android: Tips, tricks, cheats, hints and strategies

The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth is a new iPhone and Android game by Kabam, makers of the smash hits Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North, as well as Arcane Empires, both of which laid the groundwork for this game. Here, you get to play as either the Dwarves or the Elves, and your entire kingdom is different depending upon which race you choose. Your goals are to conquer surrounding lands and other players’ kingdoms, and build the most powerful kingdom in your world. Read on for tips and tricks to The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth!

After your beginner protection is up, you are liable to get attacked at any time, and thus get your hard won resources and gold stripped away. One way to get around this is to build and upgrade vaults in your City View, which can hold certain amounts of resources. Another one, which works specifically for the quest income, is to wait to claim your quest rewards until you need the food, wood, stone, ore and gold from them. There’s no need to claim them right away, and if you don’t claim the rewards, you can’t lose them when you get attacked, and it’s free.

Your three types of main troops are ground troops, mounted troops and siege weapons (or launchers). You can send all of them to attack various goblin camps and other players’ kingdoms to carpetbomb them, but to play it smarter, scout other camps and kingdoms first to figure out what defenses they have. If they are heavy on traps, send in mounted troops. If they are heavy on caltrops, send in lots of ranged troops (siege weapons). If they are heavy on crossbows and trebuchets, send in foot soldiers.

Use this same rock paper scissors protocol to deal with their enemy troops. If they are high on foot troops, send in ranged troops. If they are strong on ranged troops, send in mounted soldiers. If they are strong on mounted troops, send in foot soldiers.

In your field view, fill up every space you have with farms, quarries, wood buildings and ore buildings before you start upgrading them, except for upgrading to unlock troops and other advanced buildings. Go back to the field view every time that you gain a level, and new spaces will be open, so fill up those new spaces.
