Guide to Era of Sail for iOS: Tips, tricks, cheats, hints and strategies

Era of Sail is a new game for the iPhone and iPod Touch by DreaminGame that puts you in charge of your own port, sending ships back and forth to and from other players’ ports, trading various items such as olive oil, jam, powder and soybean oil for money, and building your once-great port back up to the greatness that it once was. You play as Columbus and together with your wife Angel and her mysterious cousin, it’s your goal to make the port awesome. Read on for some tips and tricks to Era of Sail!

Start the game off immediately by clicking every space that has the hammer logo next to it (meaning, a space that can be constructed on) and filling them up with houses, mills and bakeries. Bakeries will increase your max population, while the cottages will increase your actual population, allowing you to unlock even more buildings and ships, One mill is fine for now but later on, buy a second mill so that you can produce a ton of goods at a time.

The more that you collect from all of these buildings, the more that their “star” ratings will increase. When this happens, houses will hold even more people, bakeries and other commercial buildings will increase the max population even further, and mills will be able to produce even more different varieties of goods, and for longer periods of time, too, so that you use up less energy.

When you have five ships, try to set them all up going to the same place. That way, when you come back to the game after a long break, you will be able to go to the friend’s city that they are all at and collect from them and restock them with beer all at once, rather than having to do it all one by one.

If you need to establish new routes to complete a quest but all of your routes are full, go to the edit menu, tap the necessary ship, and hit the “x” button to cancel the route. Then, leave edit mode, go to the blank berth, tap it and re-establish the route. Repeat this as many times as you need to in order to finish the quest.
