Time Defenders is a new game by 6Waves and Ipanema Games in which you defend your time portal against an odd assortment of aliens and troops, led by Lady Delphinia whose mission is to use the time portal to take over every single time period. You defend with an odd assortment of weaponry, first and foremost being a wizard and a soldier with an electric gun, but also a number of other skills and defenses. It can get very difficult but the following tips and tricks should be of use!
In general, your swipe attacks will do more damage against the aliens and your tap attacks will do more damage against the troops. Look out for exceptions, though. The big dinosaur (the bomb carrying dino) may be ridden by an alien but tap attacks kill it more quickly than slash attacks. Tap the bomb dino when other enemies are nearby to do major damage to them as well.
Don’t swipe too fast when you are attacking, because if you swipe too quickly, then the game won’t read the entire swipe and can short change you out of some of the attacks that you pull off. Always make sure to swipe back and forth, though, rather than in just one direction, in order to kill off enemies as quickly as possible.
Use your experience points wisely when it comes to upgrades. All three upgrades (more powerful attacks, more health for the portal, and health recovery for the portal) are equally important, so upgrade them together as much as possible, although adding levels to the recovery seems to have the biggest effect of all, to some degree. Upgrading the attacks makes it a lot easier to get large combos going, and thus to gain more experience points.
Make sure to get a sizeable assortment of skills going (the freeze, poison attack, turret, etc) and to use them as often as possible. Even though it doesn’t always seem like they make much of a difference, they make it MUCH easier to beat stages.
