Welcome to the beginner’s guide to Hungry Shark Evolution for the iPhone and iPad! In this game you play as a shark whose goal is to eat sea creatures and people (and pelicans), grow in size, increase your power and eventually evolve into other sharks. It’s a simple game to learn, yet very hard to mater. Read on for the beginner’s guide to Hungry Shark Evolution!
The first thing that you’ll do when you start the game is to choose your control scheme. You can either choose tilt, which will cause the shark to be controlled by tilting your phone, or by touch, which will bring up a joystick when you touch the screen, which you can then use to control the shark. Though the game says that tilting is recommended, you might actually be able to control the shark more accurately using the simulated joystick.
Your goal is to eat, and avoid getting killed. Your life bar is the green bar on the top right part of the screen. This bar runs out gradually as you swim, and is refilled a bit each time you eat a creature. If you get hurt by a creature that you can’t eat (such as a jellyfish or a hammerhead shark) or attacked by a different creature (a sting ray, a shark or a puffer fish).
Watch out for other dangers, as well. Your energy can be drained by going too deep in the ocean, due to the increased water pressure, or by spending too much time out of water when you are chasing swimmers out on the dock. You can also hit mines underwater, or even get attacked by roving submarines that will fire torpedoes at you, but you won’t see those very often.
The red bar below the life bar is your boost bar. Hit the screen to boost (or if you are using touch mode, hit the screen with your other finger). Use the boost to chase after faster fish. If you eat a sea turtle, your boost will be maxed out no matter how low it was.
