Dots (iOS) FAQ, Walkthrough and Beginner’s Guide

Welcome to the beginner’s guide to Dots, the one game that probably doesn’t even need a beginner’s guide (because it’s such as simple game to play) – it’s just good to have one because despite the simplicity it can get DIFFICULT. This is a color coded version of connect the dots but with a one minute timer. It’s essentially connect the dots on steroids. If you have questions on Dots or if you are brand new to the game and trying to figure out how the worldwide leadeers get their insane scores, read on for the beginner’s guide!

First thing is first. The gameplay is as simple as it gets. You swipe from dot to dot to connect the dots, and you can connect as few as two or as many as enough dots to fill up the entire board, as long as all of the dots that you connect are the same color. You can connect dots that are above, below, to the left or to the right of a dot – not to the diagonal, as that won’t work.

There are no bonuses for making big combos – there is only one point per dot that you clear off of the board. Your high score is totalled up after one 60 second round in the game is over.

There are three power ups that you can use in the game. One of them is the minimizer, which makes one single dot disappear when you double tap it. The expander gets rid of every dot of one color. The time stop adds five seconds to your clock. You can only use them once per stage, except for the minimizer, which you can use as many times as you want per stage.

Once you get enough good scores, you can check out the high scores tab in the menu of the game, or linked off of the “End of Round” menu. Once you get there, there will be three menus. You can see your own overall high scores or the worldwide high scores initially. You will also have options to connect the game via either Facebook or Twitter, and once you do either one of those, you and your friends’ scores will be listed down a separate chart, allowing you to compare them.
