Welcome to part four of the FIFA 14 beginner’s guide! Click here to go back to part three of the guide.
Card packs in this game, unlike in most games, are completely exclusive as to the type of card you get. If you buy a bronze pack, you get all bronze cards, if you buy a silver pack, you get all silver cards, and if you buy a gold pack you get all gold cards. However, you can get rare cards of all three types. You will know a rare card because it will appear as a “shiny” version of the specified color. Rare cards have marginally better statistics than the equivalent non-rare color card, which doesn’t sound like much, but it helps in the long run.
Under the “club” area you will be able to do almost any modification that you want to your football team. This includes changing its name, or even deleting it and starting from scratch. You can see where you are on the global leaderboards, which are measured by points in the standings. Wins in the season mode are worth three points, ties are worth one point, and losses are worth nothing.
Check out the “active objectives” in order to find some quick ways to earn coins, because completing objectives will always earn you a bonus of either coins or card packs. There are four objective tabs, which are Recommended, Learn, Play and Build. If there is a blue dot next to the objective, there is a reward waiting to be collected. A green checkmark means that you have already collected the reward, and a blank space means that you still have to complete the objective,
Check out the “team of the week” tab to see who the chosen team of the week is. Any time that you find one of their players in a card pack or in the transfer pile, their cards will turn into a “rare” version of their color, and they will stay that way, meaning that if you buy a rare gold card with the team of the week’s player, they will stay rare.
Even with the ability to power up your team so much, you will have to learn the controls and figure out what your strategy is if you want to consistantly win the games. These can only come with frequently playing the game. That’s about all I can give right now for FIFA 14 (the iOS and Android version). Enjoy the game!
