Clumsy Ninja: How to win without spending any money

Clumsy Ninja is one of the most popular free-to-play games to come out on the iOS App Store in a long time. Your ninja is out to rescue Kira from whoever kidnapped her, and with your help, your ninja gradually trains from a kid who makes Napoleon Dynamite look coordinated, to a tough ninja warrior whose moves are not to be messed with. Like most games, there are in app purchases that can speed up the gameplay, but are they necessary to win? Not at all – read on to find out how to get the most out of your game, and spend the least on the way there!

Gems and coins are the two currencies in the game. While one is obviously far more rare than the other, they both can be purchased for real-life money if you so desire. Gems are completely unnecessary to the game, but they can make things easier. Coins, however, are very necessary.

Save up your gems. You will earn one gem every time that you gain an experience level, so speed up your level gains not just by following the quests, but by doing the balloon trick (buy five balloons, pop five balloons, repeat over and over until levels are gained). Don’t blow your gems – save them up for a good purchase, although anything that you will be able to purchase, can be bought with coins later on.

To avoid spending gems, instead of using a gem purchase to repair items early, pick the other repair option, which will be either “watch video” or “tweet”. Tweet will require you to send out a tweet from the game, although you can edit it to be about anything you want, including topics other than the game. The ad videos are short and free.

Coins are more common, yet still perpetually in short supply. Have as many friends and plants as possible for a good steady source of coins, and always use your main training implements before you use your fun items, unless it is for the purpose of quests or to do the balloon trick.

The only thing that you will want to actually spend real life money on, if you really have to pick something, is the Winter Wonderland pack (and other seasonal packs), which are ironically, the least important to helping you win the game. They’re just fun to have.
