Like with most card battling games, there will be an endless number of ways to improve your team. Put the rarest cards that you have in, first of all, regardless of experience level. Your cards can always gain experience levels and be boosted in other ways, but the most basic thing to watch out for is their star rating, which is their rarity rating.
Evolve a card by taking two identical cards and combining them together. Evolve it and you can upgrade its power a lot in order to match it up against cards that are of an even higher rarity. If you card has already been enhanced, then a percentage of its extra statistics, as well as the one that you sacrificed, will be kept and added to the new card, which will go back down to level 1.
Summoning new cards is done with Mithril, Summoning Stones or Summoning Charms. The charms can be earned through both the arena and from the quests while the stones can be purchased in the store with Mithril. Mithril is the premium currency in this game, and while there are ways to earn it for free, you can get the most Mithril by purchasing it with real money.
Play boss battles over and over to farm for Summon Stones, and if you run out of boss energy, use a Ent-draught to restore it. Stamina allows you to keep questing, and if it runs out before you gain a level (which restores it for free), use a Lembas Bread to restore it.
Collect every available hero in a single area to receive a major reward. This reward will usually include a super rare hero of four or five stars, as well as a piece of Lembas Bread and Ent-Draught (or other items) and some free gold.
