General Tips & Information
- This game may be played in windowed or full screen mode.
- When you set up your profile, you have a choice of two play types.
- The Relaxed mode of play has no timer and you do not earn points.
- For more of a challenge, choose Normal Play to play with a timer and earn points.
- To view your current score in Normal mode, select the gears or options button.
- Hints are unlimited, but you must wait for the meter to recharge.
- Click on the hint button to find an object.
- The hidden objects are randomized, so your solution may vary.
- You may skip the mini-games.
- Some of the mini-games are randomized, so your solution may vary.
- It is very important to listen to the conversations and read the journal. You will need that information for three difficult mini-games.
Chapter One: Shadows of the Past
- After speaking with you father, enter the castle though the arched door.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list to the left.
- Enter the door on the right but it’s too dark to see and you return to the throne-room.
- Take the candle from the floor and use it on one of the lit candles in the room.
- Return through the door on the right.
- Click on the hand of the fallen man in Thomas Cromwell’s office.
- You need to find ingredients for an antidote and are automatically returned to the throne-room.
- Take the goblet from the table.
- Exit the throne-room to the left and return to the courtyard.
- Use the goblet on the well to collect water.
- Return to the throne-room through the arched door.
- From the throne-room, enter the right door to return to Thomas Cromwell’s office.
- Locate the 12 ingredients for the antidote.
- Note-Look for herbs and small bottles and vials.
- The object of this mini-game is to combine the flasks to create the correct color.
- Using the color chart, determine what color needs to be poured into each funnel.
- Drag the flasks to the funnels to pour the colors.
- Click on the mix button to test.
- If you are incorrect, press reset to start over.
- From left to right, the solution for the first puzzle is green then purple.
- The second solution is green-green-purple.
- For the third solution, use green-black-black.
- The King requests your help and you return to your chambers to collect your belongings.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
Chapter Two: Small Creatures
- When you first arrive at Fontainebleau Castle, King Francis I is accusing a servant of stealing the Queen’s jewels.
- The servant begs you to help find the jewels that must have been knocked from the window by the cat.
- Locate the 18 pieces of jewelry in the garden.
- After the King gives you leave, you find a locked door.
- Return to the garden through the door on the right.
- Take the playing cards from the table and the flint near the well.
- Return to the castle.
- Use the playing cards on the locked door.
- Open the door.
- It seems the cat has been at it again.
- Return the the broken pieces to their mate.
- The servant gives you a lock pick out of gratitude.
- Take the tinderbox then combine it with the flint in your inventory.
- Use the lock pick on the door to trigger a mini-game.
- The object of the mini-game is to move all the bolts to the top of the lock.
- Numbering the bolts 1-7 from left to right click on the sequence: 7-3-6-4-5-7-1.
- Collect the hidden objects from the study.
- Use the tinderbox to light the candle.
- Hold the letter over the lit candle.
- You discover a letter from the Cardinal plotting against King Henry.
Chapter Three: The Will of Rome
- At the Vatican, you are instructed to remain in your room.
- Exit your quarters to the right.
- Use the lock pick on the door.
- You are caught by the servant, who returns you to your room for a disguise.
- Locate all the clothing items.
- Collecting the clothing items will trigger a mini-game.
- In this jigsaw-style puzzle, drag the pieces of clothing to form three dresses.
- You change into a nun’s habit so you can now explore unnoticed.
- Exit your quarters on the right.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the screen.
- Walk to the left to return to your quarters.
- You need to melt the Madonna statue to get the key.
- Place the Madonna statue in the sunlight.
- Take the telescope and place it in the sunlit area.
- When the statue melts, take the key.
- Exit your chambers to the right.
- Use the key on the cross-shaped notch in the column.
- The heavy curtains open to reveal a secret door.
- Enter the secret door.
- Click on the tryptich painting on the left wall.
- Find the objects that are only present in one side of the painting.
- Hidden behind the tryptich is a strategic map showing what appears to be France and Spain moving against England.
- Someone is coming and you must hide.
- Take the cloth from the chair and hang it on the curtain rod.
- Click on the curtain to hide.
- You overhear Cardinal Von Waldburg plotting to kill Thomas Cromwell.
Chapter Four: Journey to Spain
- Aboard the ship, Christopher trains you as a spy.
- Collect all the hidden objects on the list.
- You need to find some heat to read the parchment paper.
- Exit to the right and enter the galley.
- Use the parchment paper on the coals beneath the pot to reveal the message.
- Drag items in the left column to similar items in the scene.
- You next task is to break into a room where someone is sleeping and steal an item.
- Place the paper under the door.
- Take the fish bone and use it on the lock.
- Pull out the paper to find the key.
- Use the key on the lock then open the door.
- Locate the all hidden objects in the list.
- You have found a puzzle box.
- The object of this mini-game is to slide the tiles into place and form a picture.
- At any given time, only two tiles have the ability to move.
- For example: If the instruction is “R” move the only tile that can move right.
- Slide the tile that will move in each of these directions: D-D-R-U-L-D-R-U-R-D-L-L-U-U-R-D-L-D.
Chapter Five: The Fortress
- The King is please with your progress.
- While Christopher keeps the Admiral busy, search the room.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- You find a strange message from the Admiral.
- There is more to the message than meets the eye.
- Exit the room at the bottom of the screen.
- Place the paper over the candles to reveal the secret message.
- Continue searching while Christopher find passage on a ship.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- The rope may help you gain entry to the Admirals office.
- Exit through the door at the top of the stairs.
- Look at the lower left window.
- Use the rope on the window, then enter the window.
- You must find the pamphlet.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- The object of this mini-game is to place all the portraits into the correct relationships.
- All the information is found in the conversations and the journal.
- Each position on the screenshot is numbered with the solution as follows:1 = POLE
2 = JANE
3 = ELENA
4 = HENRY
5 = CROMWELL
6 = WILLIAM
7 = VON WALDBURG
8 = FRANCIS
9 = CHRISTOPHER
10 = DE BAZAN
Chapter Six: A Lost Rebellion
- Oswyn Banes needs you to collect evidence against Robert Aske.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- Look at the paneling on the left- you need something to remove the planks.
- Walk through the center door.
- Take the axe from the bookcase.
- Return through the doorway.
- Use the axe on the paneling to find a rope.
- Pull on the rope and hear something move upstairs.
- Walk back upstairs.
- In this find the differences screen, click on all the differences on the right side.
- Pull the previously hidden lever to move the bookcase.
- Enter the secret passageway.
- You have found a printing press.
- Compare Pole’s pamphlet with the printing press.
- Locate all the letters scattered about the room.
- The object of this mini-game is to find the image that is the exact mirrored image of the original.
- There are three letters to compare.
- *Note- the images are randomized. Your solution may differ.
- You return to report you findings to the king.
- He is pleased and confers a title upon your father.
- That night, your father is murdered, possibly as revenge for your interference.
Chapter Seven: Loss
- Search for clues to the identity of the murderer.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- Take the poker.
- Look at the chest of candles.
- Exit on the right to the courtyard.
- Use the poker to grab the scrap of paper near the door.
- Enter the door to return to Cromwell’s office.
- Walk through the right door to Cromwell’s office.
- Collect the 11 scraps of paper.
- You need to replace the candles in Cromwell’s office.
- Return to your quarters and open the chest of candles with the poker.
- Take the candles and return to Cromwell’s office.
- Drag the fresh candles over the depleted candles.
- In this jigsaw style mini-game, drag the pieces to reassemble the letter.
Chapter Eight: A Hidden Trace
- Francesca’s letter mentioned Aske so you return to Pontefract Castle.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- The object of the mini-game is to move all the bolts to the top of the lock.
- Numbering the bolts 1-7 from left to right click on the sequence: 7-3-5-2-4-7-6-1-5-7-4-5-4.
- Inside the chest is one half of a coat of arms.
- Pull the lever on the back wall to open the secret passageway.
- Enter the door to the secret passageway.
- Pull the lever on the wall to open a secret niche and close the doorway.
- Take the other half of the coat of arms from the niche.
- Combine the two coat of arms halves.
- Try the lever to open the doorway, but its stuck.
- Look under the rug for a trap door.
- Try to open the trap door, but you need a handle.
- Find all the hidden objects on the list.
- Use the ring on the trapdoor.
- Click on the ring to open the trap door, then click again to enter.
- Locate all the armor pieces.
- Place the coat of arms on the assembled armor.
- Take the note from the visor.
Chapter Nine: Unsuspected Encounter
- Francesca was here, but Christopher urges you to leave.
- You need to find a way back into the King’s study.
- Locate all the sticks in the scene.
- Find the sickle and use it to cut the rope from the well.
- Combine the rope and the sticks to make the ladder.
- Place the ladder at the tower window.
- Enter the window.
- Compare the two pictures and click on the differences on the right side.
- Compare the handwriting on the letter with Francesca’s note.
- The object of this mini-game is to find the image that is the exact mirrored image of the original.
- There are three words to compare.
- *Note- the images are randomized. Your solution may differ.
- Christopher holds off Francesca while you escape.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- You find a dagger.
- Use the dagger on the window to loosen the bars.
- Escape through the window.
- Christopher has been captured and taken to Spain.
Chapter Ten: Playing Games
- Go through the lower right door.
- You need to find something to help you enter the Admiral’s office.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- You have found a key.
- Use the key on the upper door.
- Enter the Admiral’s office.
- The Admiral will tell you where Francesca is and allow you to roam the castle if you can solve a puzzle.
- First you must find the game pieces.
- Locate all the game pieces in the scene.
- The object of this mini-game is to reverse the position of the black and the white pieces.
- Click on the piece you want to move, then click on the empty spot.
- You cannot jump any pieces.
- Now to set a trap for Francesca.
- Place the objects into the scene according to the plan.
- Exit through the door at the top of the stairs.
- Confront Francesca on the roof.
- You are captured and taken to Cardinal Von Waldberg.
Chapter Eleven: A Den of Lions
- Cardinal Von Waldberg informs you that you remain in the cell until your interrogation.
- Locate all the hidden objects in the scene.
- You find a note from Christopher. He is in the cell above you.
- You have to corroborate stories.
- Find quill and ink so you can respond to the message.
- Take the feather from the bed and the plate from the table.
- Take the dirt and combine it with the plate.
- Combine the plate with the quill.
- Use the ‘inked’ quill on the note then use it on the rope.
- The cardinal collects you for his interrogation but is interrupted by Francesca.
- Search for a means of escape as the door has no knob or keyhole.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- You find a strange map.
- Hold the map over the candle to reveal a route.
- Click on the drawers in the pattern marked on the map.
- In this find the differences screen, click on all the differences on the right side.
- The object of this mini-game is to place all the portraits into the correct relationships.

- You overhear a conversation between Cardinal Pole and Cardinal Von Waldburg.
- You realize that Pole is being used and the letter you gave Sir Francis may cause the King to execute Pole’s family.
Chapter Twelve: The Fate of a Family
- You have to find a way to steal the letter back from Sir Francis Bryan.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- You find some cards, but they are marked.
- Exit the room at the lower left.
- You need to find a way to make the cards look alike.
- Take the knife and use it on the deck of cards.
- Exit the room via the upper right door.
- Christopher takes the cards to distract Sir Francis while you search his belongings.
- You are caught by Sir Francis who demands not to be disturbed except for lunch.
- You automatically return to the kitchen.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- You need to prepare a sleeping potion to mix in the stew.
- The object of this mini-game is to combine the flasks to create the correct color.
- Using the color chart, determine what color needs to be poured into each funnel.
- Drag the flasks to the funnels to pour the colors.
- Click on the mix button to test.
- If you are incorrect, press reset to start over.
- From left to right, the solution for the first puzzle is green-yellow-purple.
- The second solution is yellow-black-black-yellow.
- For the third solution, use green-yellow-black-green.
- After Sir Francis has eaten the stew laced with sleeping potion, you can safely search for the letter.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- The King chastises you for leaving Whitehall against his orders.
- You explain your need for revenge and try to tell him about Pole.
- Christopher betrays you and gives the King the letter that will doom Poles family.
Chapter Thirteen: Enemies and Allies
- Months later you receive a letter from Francesca.
- She warns you about Christopher and begs for your help.
- You return to your chambers to pack for France.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- Sir Francis is watching you, so you must delay the trip to France.
- Keeping the letter from Francesca is dangerous. It must be hidden.
- Enter the castle and help with the remodeling.
- Drag each broken item to it’s mate in the throne-room.
- You hide Francesca’s letter under the carpet.
- Now you have to distract Sir Francis.
- Walk left to Cromwell’s office.
- A forged letter from Pole will send Sir Francis away.
- Collect all the hidden objects on the list.
- You find a set of foreign sigils.
- The object of this mini-game is to find the image that is the exact mirrored image of the original.
- There are four sigils to compare.
- *Note- the images are randomized. Your solution may differ.
- Place the letter on the desk.
Chapter Fourteen: Secrets
- You arrive safely in France, but need a disguise to see the King.
- Collect all the pieces of clothing.
- In this jigsaw-style mini-game, put the pieces together to form three dresses.
- You can just make out voices, but you need something to help you hear.
- Exit the room at the lower right.
- Take the empty cup off the table.
- Return to the workshop through the upper left door.
- Use the cup on the study door to eavesdrop.
- You hear King Francis and Cardinal Von Waldburg discussing their alliance.
- Once they leave, enter the King’s study.
- Find all the hidden objects on the list.
- You see the King in the garden.
- Exit through the left door.
- Spot the differences between the two pictures.
- Make sure to click on the right scene.
- You grab a knife and return to the King’s study.
- Use the knife on both drapes.
- Combine the drapes inside your inventory.
- Use the combined drapes on the window.
- Climb down the drapes to the garden.
- You plead Francesca’s case to King Francis.
- He agrees to have you act as messenger.
Chapter Fifteen: Fallen From Grace
- You overhear Cardinal Pole ask Von Waldburg why he did not tell you the truth about your father.
- You must help Francesca escape.
- Find all the hidden objects on the list.
- You find the key to Francesca’s cell, but it breaks in two.
- Take the cork from the table.
- Combine the cork with the broken key.
- Use the key on the cell door.
- You are too late, Francesca has poisoned herself.
- Search for clues and answers to save her.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- You need Cardinal Pole to help but he is in the secret room.
- Exit the cell through the bars.
- Return to your old chambers through the left door.
- Take the mace and return to the main room.
- Use the mace on the pottery to make some noise.
- Cardinal Pole agrees to help save Francesca, but warns you not to escape.
- The object of this mini-game is to combine the flasks to create the correct color.
- Using the color chart, determine what color needs to be poured into each funnel.
- Drag the flasks to the funnels to pour the colors.
- Click on the mix button to test.
- If you are incorrect, press reset to start over.
- From left to right, the solution for the first puzzle is purple-yellow-black-yellow.
- The second solution is purple-yellow-yellow-purple-yellow.
- For the third solution, use black-green-green-green-green.
- Francesca will recover, thanks to you and Cardinal Pole.
- Pole informs you that your father was working with Von Waldburg.

- Spain is preparing to attack.

Chapter Sixteen: On the Verge of War
- You must find a way to enter the Admiral’s study and place the letter from Francis on his desk.
- Find all the hidden objects on the list.
- You find a heavy hammer.
- Use the hammer to break the barrel.
- Take the barrel ring and use it on the door.
- Enter the castle through the door.
- Enter the lower right door.
- Collect all the hidden objects from the list.
- You find another puzzle cube.
- The object of this mini-game is to slide the tiles into place and form a picture.
- At any given time, only two tiles have the ability to move.
- For example: If the instruction is “R” move the only tile that can move right.
- Slide the tile that will move in each of these directions: R-D-R-D-L-L-U-U-R-R-D-D-L-U-R-U-L-L-D-D-R-U-U-L-D-D-R-U-U-L-D-R-U-L-D-D
- The key to the Admiral’s office was hidden inside the cube.
- Use the key on the upper door.
- Click on the door to enter the office.

- Now its time to return to Pontefract and find Christopher.
Chapter Seventeen: Blood Ties
- Search the castle for clues.
- Spot the differences between the two pictures.
- Make sure to click on the right side scene.
- You find a locket that looks familiar.
- How can you trap Christopher?
- Exit the secret room to the left.
- Take the lance.
- Walk downstairs to the right.
- Enter the door to the right of the armor.
- Use the lance on the trapdoor to close the latch.
- Return to the secret room and test the trap door.
- Christopher is coming, you must hide.
- Exit the secret room and hide behind the armor.
- Once Christopher enters the secret room, pull the lever to move the bookcase.
- Christopher admits to killing your father.
- He tells you to break open the locket for the truth.
- Go downstairs to the dining hall to find something to help.
- Locate all the hidden objects on the list.
- You find a dagger.
- Use the dagger on the locket to find a hidden letter.
- Its a love letter from Cromwell to Christopher’s mother.
- Christopher was Cromwell’s son. He tried to protect him by killing William.
- Oswyn Banes arrives and locks you in Aske’s room.
- Look at the trapdoor, but it is too high.
- You need to locate the shelving for the bookcase.
- Locate all the shelf pieces.
- Place the shelf pieces into the bookcase.
- Exit the room through the trapdoor.
- The object of the mini-game is to move all the bolts to the top of the lock.
- Numbering the bolts 1-7 from left to right click on the sequence: 7-6-5-6-2-4-5-3-5-4-3.
- You must hurry back to Whitehall to warn the King.
Chapter Eighteen: Circle of Blood
- You must quickly explain the danger to King Henry before he arrests you.
- The object of this mini-game is to place all the portraits into the correct relationships.
- All the information is found in the conversations and the journal.
- Each position on the screenshot is numbered with the solution as follows:1= FRANCESCA
2 = DE BAZAN
3 = FRANCIS
4 = BRYAN

- Christopher attacked Sir Francis and is loose in the castle.
- Follow the beads from his locket to track him down.
- Exit the throne-room to the left.
- Collect all the beads.
- From the courtyard, enter the door on the left to your old quarters.
- Collect all the beads.
- Exit your quarters and re-enter the castle.
- Go to Cromwell’s office.
- Collect all the beads.
- Return to the throne-room.
- Collect all the beads.
- Enter the secret passageway behind the throne.
- Go forward through the arched door.
- Christopher nearly kills you.
- He pleads that it was either your father or his.
- You decide to end the circle of blood and let him go free.
- You retire to your county estate, through with death and intrigue.
