The Light And How To Swing It – Your Paladin Leveling Guide

So, you’re a holy roller and looking for a Paladin Leveling Guide. Well paladins are one of the funnest classes to play with a number of different roles and the unique attribute that they heavily use holy magic, which can not be negated by armor or magic resistance. When playing a paladin, there are several things to consider when leveling up, and this Paladin Leveling Guide will discuss all of them.

Paladin Leveling Guide Part 1: The Beginning

As you start off, a series of quests will guide you through your racial starting zone, and eventually you will reach level 10 and choose your Paladin leveling spec. Your options will be Retribution, Protection, and Holy. Retribution is going to be your primary questing spec because of the high damage output, and talents which will restore your health and mana. At level 30, you can choose dual spec, which will allow you to switch talent specs at will, when out of combat. This is an excellent ability because it allows you to either tank or heal in dungeons, with almost instant queue times. This will significantly speed up the leveling process for you. I prefer to off-spec with protection because most of the gear will be usable in both specs until much later levels. Before level 30, it’s completely possible to tank dungeons as retribution, and often, you don’t even need a shield. Just plow through with your big 2-hander, and you’ll kill everything before they can aggro anyone else.

Paladin Leveling Guide Part 2: The Gear

You will be able to wear mail gear to start off, and this is recommended because of the higher damage reduction. Once you hit level 40, you will want to pick up all the plate armor you can. Your armor specialization will give you a significant stat bonus for wearing all plate armor. In regards to your weapon, you will want a large 2-handed weapon for your Retribution Paladin Leveling Spec. This will give you a large damage boost and increase your leveling speed significantly. Protection Paladins will want to pick up a 1-handed weapon and shield. You’re all about absorbing damage so it’s beneficial for your survival, and your group’s. Both specs will want to focus on strength, stamina, and hit rating. However ret will also want more crit rating and haste, while prot will need more avoidance stats like dodge, parry or block. Holy paladins will want intellect, spirit, and spell power to charge their healing spells.

Paladin Leveling Guide Part 3: Professions

Most people will tell you to only go with gathering professions. It’s not a bad way to go. You make serious gold, you get passive stat bonuses, and you also receive experience for gathering herbs and ores. However, with a WoW Gold Guide, you can easily make enough gold without these professions and you can focus on power leveling Blacksmithing or Jewelcrafting so you can create gear for yourself, and use those professions to make gold on the auction house.

In the end, after you have picked up your paladin leveling spec, started leveling professions, and are now crushing dungeons, you should be well on your way to level 85.
