Destiny: The Taken King - How to Get the Exotic Black Spindle Sniper Rifle

This page will show you how to unlock the Black Spindle Exotic Sniper Rifle in Destiny. This weapon will deal out 310 damage, and will occupy your Special Weapon slot while equipped. We’ll show you how to get your hands on it, giving you one more weapon to slay Oryx with.

Before you begin, ensure that you have a fire team of three people, as this mission can get quite hectic for a lone Guardian. If you don’t have people you play with, head to a random Tower and start sending messages and invites. There will always be other players willing to help you out when you need it, even if you have to look for a few minutes. This is especially true when there is a 310 exotic in it for them.

The only way that we currently know works is to load into the Lost to Light Dailey Heroic Story. If it's not the Daily Heroic Story, you have to wait until it randomly comes up in the rotation again. You’re going to quickly complete that mission up to the point where you have to run away, and then you’re going to begin placing Relics into the doors to open them. You and your fire team need to open the first door with one Relic, the second door with two Relics, but then you must take a detour.

That sound you hear is Oryx weeping in fear of the Black Spindle. See you soon, Taken King.

Take the route that will lead you along the exact same path as the Shadow Thief Strike from the House of Wolves DLC, arriving at the Dusk Warren part where you teleport upwards. Jump into the teleport, and then prepare to fight Taken enemies all the way along the Strike path. This will lead you to the same room that you fought Taniks in, only it will be full of Taken, as well as Driviks, the Chosen. This will be your final boss fight for this mission, and when it’s over you’ll have yourself a Black Spindle Exotic Sniper Rifle with a 310 Attack rating.

This is one of the harest missions that you can take on in Destiny, mostly because of the 10 minute timer from the time you land on the ship. You need to be in the final room with Driviks, the Chosen with about six minutes left. Use the Sunbreaker Titan and Stormcaller Warlock to clear adds, and the Nightstalker Hunter to tether the boss for increased damage. Expect to fail this a few times before you get it right.

Aside from the 310 Attack value, what can you expect from the Black Spindle? Well, it’s modeled after the Black Hammer, and comes with the White Nail, Perfect Balance and Mulligan perks, making it one of the best options for a Sniper Rifle in all of Destiny, if not the best option up to this point.

Note: Bungie has said that they didn't intend the Black Spindle to drop at 310, and plan to patch it. If you get one, infuse it into another weapon to get the full 300 plus value from it, and then buy a 300 Attack Black Spindle from your Exotic Blueprints board in the Hall of Guardians.
