Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword Walkthrough Part 14 – The Eldin Volcano
Once you collect everything from repeated dives, head to the left, into the passage by the bird statue. Head to the left to find a Mogma who needs some help. He plainly implies he wants some help chasing off the Bokoblins. Time for some fighting practice. The main thing to deal with here are the two leaders. Until they are defeated, more will simply keep coming. One is on the ground with you while the other is above on the wooden balcony overlooking the battlefield. Now head back to the Mogma and choose “A way forward”. This nets you the digging mitts which you can now use to dig in the ground to find items. This is mandatory to upgrade your Iron shield to the Reinforced Shield (which requires 2 pieces of Eldin Ore, found only from digging and random chests) which is the best you can have at this point of play.
Head to the patch of dirt the Mogma talked about and dig. You will find a steam vent that will launch you upwards. Keep moving forward until you find another dirt patch to dig at the end of a tunnel branch. It will reveal another Steam Vent which you should ride upwards. Take the ladder up to find a hastily assembled Bokoblin village. Deal with them. Once that is complete, head down the center tunnel of the three in front of you. This will land you in front of a treasure chest.
Head back to the branching tunnels behind the Mogma. Head to the right now to find another Pyrup blocking your path but no bombs this time to help you out. Head a bit to the left and dig in the dirt patch to find a Mogma. He talks about what one can find digging. Still, unsaid, this is a maze you are entering into. There are numerous Pyrups that are hidden throughout that will block your path. Head through the archway close to the Mogma to get started. Head to the left then forward to find a patch of bomb flowers. Use one to take care of the nearby Pyrup and free up some moving area. Grab another bomb and throw it against the wall just past the Pyrup you just blew up. Inside is another treasure chest. Turn around and head to the left, then right. You will find another patch of bomb flowers you can use. Grab one and roll it into the nearby hole with the Pyrup. Now head into the tunnel opening on your right. Dig the dirt patches to find a steam vent and get launched up to the Steam Geyser that will take you back outside.
Head forward and talk with the nearby Mogma. He points out the person in black jumped the gap. Now head to the right, grab a bomb flower, and throw it at the nearby rubble to clear a shortcut to the bone bridge from earlier. Now head for the “broken bridge” and it will extend. Another Hylian calls to you and tells you that Zelda is ahead, and they are dressed in black! Cross the bridge and save at the bird statue. Now head up the tunnel ahead of you. There are some Fire Keese in here but nothing too bad overall. Hop over the wobbly rock in the lava to be faced by a slope with a Bokoblin on a platform. First, dash for the platform with the Bokoblin. Defeat it then rest. Now dash to your left, to the platform with the bomb flower and two dirt patches. Dig the patches to get some supplies. Now grab the bomb flower and roll it downhill to open up another shortcut for you to get here quickly.
Once your stamina gauge is refilled, pull out the slingshot and aim for the one up at the top of the slope. Aim a bit above it so you will hit the Bokoblin. After that, make the dash up. It will be a close thing but doable. There are a few Bokoblins waiting in the village above. There is also a Commander Bokoblin above on a tower. Kill the ones on the ground then grab one of the nearby bomb flowers. Throw it at the base of the tower to topple it and take out the Commander. Head to the left side of the village and roll a bomb into the rubble to find a mini-game to play, Thrill Digger. With that out of the way, head across the tower you collapsed. Climb up the wall beyond it, grabbing the fruit on the wall to refill your stamina gauge if needed, and head forward to the right. You will encounter a giant Red Chuchu. Slash it apart then continue up the walkway.
Jump the gap and you will find another sandy slope. This one has multiple platforms with Bokoblins on them as well as a few above that will roll boulders down at you. These are unfortunately out of Slingshot range so you need to dash up to them and face down not only that pair but the trio above with Boulders. To make things easier, hit each of the Bokoblins in turn while they are holding a boulder to just kill them with it.
At the top of the slope you find a Temple. Walk toward it to trigger a cutscene between two Mogmas you met much earlier on. Fi will register the Key's material into the Drowsing Menu so you can find it. Head forward and to the left, through the opening, and dig the first patch of dirt you find. This will turn up the first of the five pieces of the key.
Now head forward and to the right. Head over to the second dirt patch in the area and dig it to find a steam vent. Now grab a bomb flower and throw it into the steam vent. It will explode above, revealing a Goddess Cube. You will find a number of bomb flowers and a sandy slope. Grab another of the flowers and roll it downhill toward the tower you see below. Go down to the toppled tower and dig up the patch of dirt below. This is key piece number two. Now dash back up to the temple.
Head along the ledge and look for a patch of bomb flowers. Now look on the left-hand side of the slope. You will see a pile of rubble along it. Grab the flowers and start throwing them at it. Once you open it up, slide down to one of the lower platforms. From there you will want to dash into it, dig the dirt patch, and claim the key piece inside.
Return to the temple and go to the right, into the Bokoblin village. Kill those on the ground, find the bomb flowers in the hut and roll one into the tower to take care of the Bokoblin leader. Before you cross the tower, head to the right of it and down the slope to find another Goddess Cube. Now head across the tower and start up the sloping tunnel beyond it. Head to the left as you come out of the tunnel. Drop down onto the ledge and cross it. Dash up the next ledge then dash jump across to the ledge above. Follow this path along and you will find some vines you can jump to. Dash jump at them then climb to the right then up. Be sure to grab the stamina fruit to replenish Link's grip. Now head through the archway beyond the bridge and step on the switch just inside to the left. This will extend the bridge, giving you a clear way back. Head straight through. Fi will come out and tell you that you are about to enter into an extremely hot area. Dash through, making an immediate right, to reach a sandy slope that will lead you down to where you can find the next piece of the key. You can also find a goddess cube along this path on the left side on a platform. After the first drop, aim to the left, for the steam vent there. Ride that up and jump from the platform you are on to the one below it with the Goddess Cube. At the bottom, head onto the next platform then to the right. Head into the cave here. Use the bomb flower to blast open the lava plug you can just see see below to the right of the cave entrance. This will lower the lava level. Now turn around and look at the far side. There is a pile of rubble and inside it is the next key piece. Grab another bomb flower and roll it up the sandy slope at an angle. This will get it to explode by the rubble and let you dash across and climb the next key piece.
Dash back across the sand and head to the right. You will find a steam geyser in the next cave, but first it is time to create a shortcut. Just outside the next cave, on the left, you will find a pair of bomb flowers. Grab one, run into the cave, and roll it into the rubble on the left. This will open a path to where you encountered the stranger in black. Now head for the steam geyser and take it upwards. Once again, you must brave the room that lights your clothes on fire. Dash through it and this time, go right on the slope. Again take the steam vent up and jump over to the next platform below. Look to the left on this platform to find two more steam vents. Jump and cross them. As they are timed, you will want to wait until you see the second starting to cross. On this platform, dig the dirt patch to find the final key piece.
Take the slope down to the bottom and use the giant steam geyser to return to the top. Head to the left and down the slope. This will take you back to the temple door. Walk over to the door to use the key and open up the Earth Temple.
