You get this mission in Forward Camp after delivering Padawan Fia's holorecording to Jedi Till'in in the mission "Hero Worship".
Jedi Till'in: Here, examine the droid's cognitive unit I recovered from the ruins. Twenty-thousand years old. Yet still functional. Our forebears built things to last.
You can say:
Where's the droid's body?
That's amazing
Old junk? Who cares?
Choose the first option to ask him what happened to the rest of the droid's parts. He tells you he was forced to dismantle it with his lightsaber. The Ruins of Lower Kaleth are gilled with droids constructed during Tython's original colonization by the galaxy's first force users. We don't know the Tythonian droids' purpose - only that they attack anyone who enters the ruins. His mission is to learn why. The dialog wheel shows the following choices:
Not to destroy them?
Anyone been hurt?
Whatever you say
Choose the second option to ask him what kind of damage can these droids do to people. He rells you about several serious injuries. Left unchecked, the droids are going to kill someone. We can't let it come to that. It's been millenia since the Tythonian droids were memory wiped. Their programming lies buried amid trillions of accumulated databits. Jedi Tillin has constructed a scanner to analyze the droids' cognitive units for command protocols, but he needs several samplings to sort through the static. You can tell him:
Let me take care of that
You need an assistant, right?
Sounds like a dull chore
Choose the first option and tell him you will get the samplings for him in no time. He is happy, as this will accelerate his efforts to solve the mystery and make the ruins safe. He gives you a scanner. When you encounter Tythonian droids in Lower Kaleth, disable them and scan the remains. Bring the scanner back to him when its memory is full so that he can analyze the data. This commences the mission "The Last Defenders", a level 5 mission:
The Last Defenders
You delivered a holorecording from Padawan Fia to Jedi Till'in in the ruins of Kaleth. Jedi Till'in has been occupied examining the ancient droids that still wander the area. The droids have become increasingly hostile towards intruders, but Jedi Till'in doesn't understand why. He has asked you to Brave the hostile droids, scan their cognitive units and return the data to him for further analysis. Enter the lower ruins of Kaleth, disable Tythonian seekers and then scan them. Once the scanner's memory is full, return to Jedi Till'in at the forward camp between Kaleth and the Tython River.
Your objective is to disable and scan 6 Tythonian Seekers. While doing this mission, you also have a chance to do the following level 5 bonus mission for some added experience:
Guardians of the Past [Bonus]
Long ago, the Tythonian droids served and protected the ancient Jedi of Kaleth. Time, however, has ravaged their bodies and their circuits. Now they are crazed, attacking anything that enters the ruins. They pose a threat to both the ruins themselves, and any Padwans undertaking their trials here. Destroy any Tythonian seekers and watchers you find in Lower Kaleth. Kill 15 of them to complete this bonus quest.
Head to the Lwer Kaleth Ruins and kill Tythonian Seekers. After you kill them, open your inventory and go to the mission items tab. You should see the following item:
Droid Scanner
Mission Item
Use: Jedi Till'in's Droid Scanner. Target remains of defeated Tythonian droids and activate.
To be used on the Tythonian seekers found in the ruins of Kaleth. The device says to target a disabled droid and push the red button.
Make sure you have the corpse of the droid you have just killed targeted, and use the Droid Scanner to scan it. If you do not have the right target, it will say "Scanner Error 701 - Unable to scan target". Otherwise it will say "Scanning Droid" and then advance your objective. Repeat this process six times to complete the task. Once you are done, the objective will change to "Return to Jedi Till'in".
Go back to the Forward Camp and speak with Till'in. He thanks you and says he will collate the data you gathered with his own readings and analyze them together. It seems like the droids were indeed built for war. Twenty thousand years later, they still pursue their primary function. How sad. These ancient droids were soldiers in Tython's great Force Wars -a time before there were Jedi, Sith or even a Republic.
You can say:
Force Wars?
Quite a revelation
What a waste of my time
Ask him about the Force Wars. He tells you it was the first conflict between Force users - a horrific battle between light and darkness that lasted for a hundred years. According to the droid logs, Kaleth was a stronghold of the dark side's forces. They made their last stand here. As they died, the dark siders activated the droids as a doomday weapon hoping to ensure the light side's destruction as well. You can reply:
They don't seem as tough
Do you have a plan for them?
Well, have fun with that
Ask him about his plans. He tells you that the council must deliberate and decide what should be done about the droids. It isn't up to you. By your efforts, we see Kaleth in a fresh light. He will commend you to the council.
As a reward, you get some credits, experience points, a medpac and a Tython Commendation, as well as a choice between a Basic Might Stim and a Basic Resolve Stim. This concludes the mission, The Last Defenders.
