Twisted Metal Sweet Tooth Walkthrough Part 6: Bossonova

This final chapter in Sweet Tooth’s story will be no cakewalk. You are up against the menacing Brothers Grimm in an epic boss battle, and only one of you can come out alive. As their name suggests, the Brothers Grimm are actually two opponents, both of whom will carve through the Bossonova arena in absolutely massive monster trucks.

Boss Battle: The Brothers Grimm

First, a note about the arena. Bossonova is basically a smaller, sectioned-off version of Sunsrpings, Ca, meaning that you should already be somewhat familiar with its layout. You will be battling through the suburban and shopping districts of the larger version of this map, which are basically flat and destructible. It’s the perfect playing field for a boss battle, as you don’t have to worry about hills taking the enemies out of your view or buildings blocking your path. On the other hand, you opponents will have a relatively clear line of sight on you and can crash through all of the buildings as well. It will be tough to consistently be in good health. There are only three health pickups in the entire level. One is in the city hall, the second is in the Cathedral, and the third sits in the fire station. If your health ever dips to the 1/3 mark, make a beeline for one of these areas before it’s too late.

For this battle, equal amounts defense and offense will be necessary if you hope to win. For this reason, relatively resilient rides are the best choice. Luckily Roadkill, the ride you are forced to control during this battle, can dish out as much punishment as it can take. It’s still suicide to charge directly into the battle as it begins, though. Counterintuitive as it may seem, turn tale and flee as soon as you can. Together, the Brothers Grimm have a plethora of long range and close range attacks that can mess you up in just about any situation.

Get a few blocks away from the Brothers to stay out of range of their powerful Napalm, Ground Pound, and Missile attacks, which will all deal devastating damage if they connect. Napalm in particular can be troublesome, as its range is vast and if you don’t see the threat and dodge it immediately it will likely hit you. If the Brothers do manage to get close enough to launch off this bombardment, use your Turbo to boost directly at them, to the area where they launched their attack from. The inception point of the attack will be one of the only safe areas. The Missile attack is less devastating, but still annoying. Watch out as the projectiles rain down at you. Drive under or through buildings when possible to take what little cover there is in the map, or even boost quickly under one of the Brothers to get out of the range of the attack. Get away from them quickly if you do, though, or risk being smashed under their Ground Pound attack.

Otherwise, twist and turn down the city’s streets collecting power-ups as you go. Once you have collected a significant arsenal, you should also have given the Brothers enough time to drift apart. Together, they are borderline impossible. Apart, this battle becomes significantly easier. Attack Slayer, the yellow truck, first. The red truck, Hammerhead, will occasionally produce weapon and health pickups underneath of its wheels as it drives, and thus can be useful for restocking after taking out Slayer.

Watch out when getting close to the Brothers for attack, as they will sometimes use an earth-shaking slam attack to push you back. When you see them raise their front wheels, get ready to jump. Soar over the shock wave and continue towards them, weapons at the ready. From close range you’re guaranteed to hit Slayer with just about anything. Take this opportunity to unleash every single weapon pickup you’ve collected in quick succession. With a full arsenal, the devastating attack should be too much for the monster truck to take. It will soon explode, leaving only one truck remaining. If you’re having trouble taking out Slayer, remember that the Freeze Missiles that you can use by pressing up on the D-Pad still work on these enemies despite their size. If you just can’t get off that Shotgun or Power Missile blast, freezing will definitely help.

When Slayer dies, Hammerhead will coat itself in a layer of protective armor. This makes attacks with ordinary weapons completely useless. Your gunner will grab some C4 and leap onto the roof in a daring attempt to plant the explosive on the underside of the monster truck. Hammerhead will speed away from you, seeing your plan. Chase after him, using Turbo if necessary. Catch up to Hammerhead and slide in between its wheels. Keep yourself steady in the red circle projected beneath the truck until the meter on the left side of the screen fills completely. You gunner will jump and begin planting the explosive. Pull away and collect power-ups while he does his work. You’ll need them soon enough.

Once you are prepared for a showdown, hit R2 to detonate the C4 and blow off the armor. Hammerhead’s health bar will still largely be intact, though. It will use the same attacks as before, so dodge them while firing a salvo of every weapon you have. The battle should end quickly.

With this victory, one last cutscene will play and you will receive the Trophy for beating Sweet Tooth’s campaign. It was a tough battle, but the game is far from over. You will still have to best the campaigns of The Brothers Grimm and Dollface. For now, though, congratulations on your victory.

In order to receive a medal on this level, you will have to beat the following times:

12:00, 13:12, or 14:24 for a Bronze on Normal, Hard, and Twisted, respectively.

9:00, 9:54, or 10:48 for a Silver on Normal, Hard, and Twisted, respectively.

6:00, 6:36, or 7:12 for a Gold on Normal, Hard, and Twisted, respectively.

For beating this level, you will receive the Talon helicopter.
