KandrianKingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Walkthrough Part 22 – Alserund Sidequests
Frama Aedic gives the quest, “Kidnapped”. She is in the northern part of Alserund, wandering the road near the first overpass. Once you complete “Kidnapped”, talk with Florion again to get the quest, “Fellfire Bloom”. After that you can start, “The Crossing”
Kidnapped
Head forward from Frama and around the bend to the left. Go up the slope to meet the Fae They are at the Circle of Engard. Talk with Alard Aedic to learn more about what happened qith him. Now talk with Florion to learn why Alard is being held and some specifics. You must activate three Erathi Sigils within the Caverns of Ingress:Waterfall, Pillar and Tree, in that order. Each will inflict a curse on you and then you must defeat a Thresh … great
Caverns of Ingress
Head straight forward down the slope to find the Waterfall. This inflicts the curse, “Trial of Commencement” which cuts your Damage Resistance by 50%.
Head to the left through the door and to the east. In the next room you will encounter three Boggart Plaguebearers. Defeat them and head through the passage to the northeast. There you will need to kill two Narca Sorcerers. You can also head to the west and fight the Ancient Leanashe, which will call one of the two Sorcerers as back up given the chance. Either way, make for the northern point of the cavern to find the second sigil, the Pillar, which is guarded by a trio of Pestilent Brownies and a Crudok. Defeat all of them and use the stone to be inflicted with the “Trial of Strength”, which reduces your damage by 50%.
Now head to the south. There are three Narca Fae between you and the next sigil. Backstabbing works very well here if you have the Trail of Commencement and Strength active. Defeat them and go through the nearby door to get to the last of the Erathi sigils, the Tree. This will inflict “Trial of Agility”, cutting your evade by 25%.
With the trials active, head to the east of the Tree. The next small chamber has the Thresh and its Boggart Plaguebearers. If you can fateshift, this battle is very easy. Otherwise, keep moving and have a hearty supply of Health potions on hand. Loot the Thresh after the battle to get the Kora petal you were sent after. This will also remove the three curses. Now just return to the Circle of Engard, talk with Florion to create the Fae Potion. This will complete Kidnapped as soon as Alard drinks the potion.
Fellfire Bloom
Head to the center of Alserund to find the Fellfire Pit. Head on inside after you deal with the Nacra sorcerer and two sprites who will likely come at you.
Once inside, head to the west. You will need to kill four Sprites, one of which is a Flame Champion. Defeat that one first ot make the remaining Spites much easier. Once they are done, continue to the west. When you get to the next big chamber you will find four Kobolds, two of which are Rogues waiting for you. Defeat them and continue along the path to the north.
In the northwestern path of the cavern you will find its guardian, a Niskaru Tyrant. Switch to an ice based weapon and it will go down quickly. Otherwise, you have fought these before. Block the arm swings and dodge the fire balls. Remember it does have an AoE burst it can emit as well so wait out for it pausing and gathering energy.
Once the Tyrant is defeated, it is time to head back. Return to the entrance however you choose. There are a few more Kobolds and Sprites going the other way or you can just head back the way you came for smooth sailing.
The Crossing
Head to the western edge of Alserund then head north to find the Fae you need to challenge: Pura. She is in the Crown of the Sun. She will immediately summon Four Sprites to aid her in the battle. Just get her to half health and she will call the battle and give you the Amulet of the Sun.
Now head down to the southern point of Alserund. There you will encounter a trio of Sprites, One Flame Champion. Defeat them and head into the Caer Elatha. Head to the east and head a little south to find the Keepers. Talk with Maxen to start this off. He will tell you to find Halcyor, who is to the east. Head through the door and into the first chamber.
Turn south and deal with the Sprites in the chamber to the south of the door. If you go north you will find a warded Fae cache and an Ancient Leanashe. There are five sprites in that chamber, one of which is a Flame Champion. After them, continue south and turn east as soon as you can.
As you head south you will find some Boggarts and Barghests to the east. You need to head to the east. Once you reach the wall, head north and then turn east when you can. At the juncture there are two Boggart Zealots and one Mountain Troll. Head to the east and then turn south once you can. There are a few Boggart Zealots in the way but that is it. Going down the slope to the south you will be swimming. Head to the east through the lake. There you will find Halcyor. He will reveal that he tipped the balance of the land to favor the summer fae and it had the side effect of driving some of them mad. He will not undo this and challenges you there.
Halcyor
He summons four sprites as aid and comes at you with Fae Baldes. Keep ready to block/parry to create solid openings and rain blows on him when he pauses. You can also just Fate shift and destroy him and his party in a few mere seconds.
Once Halycor is dead, place the bloom on the altar then head back to Maxen. It will be clear sailing so enjoy the jog. Now return to Florion in the Circle to get a report of what has happened. When you complete this quest you will c lear the Circle of Engard. This takes out a Healer and Fateweaver but there are plenty of those to be found.
