Dragon Age Origins Walkthrough Part 27 – Nature of the Beast, Part 4
Lower Ruins
Head South from the Elven Burial chamber. As you reach the southern intersection the party will be attacked by 3 skeletons. Unfortunately, after this fight comes a much larger group of 7 skeletons at the party. After the second conflict, head to the West to find a chest and a most unusual phylactery. Press on the gem and let the images come over you. Interact with it and offer the spirit inside release. It will reach you how to become an Arcane Warrior. Once you have the memories, choose what you will to do with the gem. It is best to honor your word and break the gem, releasing the spirit. To the East you will find a pile of bones with loot in it.
With all the looting complete, continue your journey to the South. Go forward to the next intersection where the party is once again attacked by skeletons, a total of 6. Defeat them then turn to the East. There you will find a broken crate and a locked chest to loot. Now turn to the South before you make for the East. In this chamber you will find a Glass Phylactery. Take the Phylactery and it will shatter, releasing a Revenant that immediately attacks the party. After the fight, explore the room to collect the few remaining treasures. Time to head to the West and move forward in the Ruins.
Through the door you will encounter more Skeletons. In addition to the skeletons you have 3 pressure plates that surround the door. Disable at least 2 of them so the rest of the party can head through safely. Now lay into the skeletons. Defeat them and start looting the room. Be sure to grab the Adventurer's Journal of the Adventurer's corpse to move along the Unbound sidequest. Finish the looting then continue on to the West.
Through the next door is a cooridor that leads to another skeletal confrontation. 2 come at you immediately with 2 more from the floor down the stairs. After all that, head down the stairs and face the Arcane Horror waiting there. It will unleashes electrical burst and summon skeletons to its side to fight against you.
With the fighting down in this room, head to the South. Loot the bodies and sarcophagi to get some very nice items. Note that in the Eastern room, there is a very hard to pick chest. After looting the lower section of this room, head to the North. As you approach the end of the hallway, 3 more skeletons come at you. Loot the room that you are in then dive into the pool to find the Lair of the Werewolves
Lair of the Werewolves
Explore the room you are in to collect a few items. After that, head to the door to the south and go into the hallway. Open the door and 4 werewolves will attack the party. Now you can explore the room. It still has traps and a few hidden werewolves so be wary while you do. Going to the West or East yields some treasures so they are worth checking out. After that is when you want to start going to the South. Deal with the werewolves that attack the party then loot the walkways off to the East and West before you go all the way South down the stairs.
Now, you are finally given the chance to Parley (or attack) the Werewolves. Handle things as you desire, but the most peacefully outcome will come from talking with them.
Parley with the Lady of the Forest
Talk with the Lady to learn the origin of the curse. They explain that Witherfang is the source of this. The Lady will ask you to bring Zathrian there so they may all parley. Agree and you will be able to bring Zathrian there and the two can talk. Zathrian, who is now in the Upper Ruins, will push to simply attack but it is possible to get him to agree to talk. If you side with him, then you will go back down to attack the Lady and the remaining Werewolves.
To side with the Werewolves, simply start agreeing with Swiftrunner. He is quite anxious for vengeance upon the one who began the curse.
Talk through it and attempt to convince him to release the curse. You will need to fight him to convince him of this course of action. Emerge victorious and a little more negioation is under way. It is possible, talk of just letting it come to rest. He can be convinced to no ill-effect to the potential for Grey Warden Allies. This will net approach with the more up-right members of your party. After that, explore and loot the room, it is time to return to the Dalish Camp.
Understand this, siding with the Werewolves will still gain you allies but the Dalish Camp will be wiped out. If you have ANY quest to do there, or wish to claim the songbook in the chest, do it before you complete the negioations between Zathrian and the Lady. Siding with the Elves simply removes the curse from them but requires killing all the werewolves.
Once there, talk with Lanaya (or Swiftrunner if you sided with the Werewolves). Either one will honor the treaty that you came seeking. Open the chest behind her to get the codex entry “In Uthenera”. Note this chest cannot be opened if you turn against the elves. That will complete the main quest, “Nature of the Beast”.
