While I only decided to play Alien Isolation due to the fact that my copy of Diablo 3 wasn't in the same room I was, it has proved to be a good choice. I've only wandered about for about an hour, but the visual design and atmosphere are great. The jerky cutscenes (so far) and the awkward looking mouth movements of characters when talking in-game are unfortunate, but on the whole I'm impresed. Hopefully the alien doesn't turn up soon and make things rather stressful.
Remember when I said that I was a 28-year old man who played Skylanders on his Friday nights? Well, not this Friday night! See you at the club?
Oh boy. After being LEGALLY BOUND to only talk about the first two hours of Sunset, Jim and I did and suddenly forums both here and elsewhere exploded into furious anger. 'They hate games!' 'Sunset Overdrive is the best, despite the fact I've never played it!' 'Actually, that does seem rather dull!' etc etc. Full review will go up on Monday. I CAN SAY NO MORE. Apart from that I love you all.
After spending my week playing Shadow Warrior and Shadow of Mordor, I realised I tend to be drawn to very violent games. Tom and I had this somewhat disturbing realisation while discussing Shadow Warrior, but there is something satisfying in the violence. Watching the heads of Warchiefs fly in Mordor after they’ve killed you time and again brings an overwhelming sense of relief and glee, while running around with uzis and katanas at a blistering pace in Warrior’s Japanese landscape is a great way to spend an afternoon.
I think I should speak to someone, a professional, perhaps.
