This quest will progress the story in Risen 2 and allow you to access the eastern side of the island, which is largely inhabited by pirates. From here, you will be able to locate Patty’s father Captain Steelbeard, and get more information on the weapon with which you will end up destroying the Kraken. If you haven’t found it already, actually locating the pirate camp can be one of the most difficult parts of completing this quest. It is located on the eastern side of the island. From the main town square, head up and to the right when the path branches off. Stay to the lower of the two paths when it branches again. The higher path leads to a cave that ultimately ends up as a dead end. Stick to the open air for now. Run around the wall directly ahead and loop up the right side of the path. Take the bridge across to the other side and walk through the cave opening to reach the eastern side of the island. From here, you can find the pirate camp all the way up the northeastern side of the beachhead. Run until you reach the shore, and follow the beach to the north.
Along the way, you will have to watch out for many different types of enemies. The standard warthogs and monkeys will attack you when you get close to them. They can be taken out pretty easily. The younger ones will barely put up a fight, and will yield 20 Glory points when defeated, so, cruel as it may be, you can effectively harvest them for extra Glory. You will also have to face off against termites, who look kind of fierce but really aren’t. If you stumble into any stray caves, though, watch out. Powerful enemies lurk just off the beaten path. A cave by the wooden bridge will have a stone face carved into one of the walls. If you find yourself in this cave, turn tail and run immediately. Approaching the stone face will spawn a massive spider from under the earth.
Once you reach the camp, you will want to change into your pirate clothes if you haven’t already. This means no shirt. Speak with the guard, named Fence. He will be distrustful of you. You will have to convince him through conversation to let you through. None of the traditional conversation options will work at all. You will have to use either Silver Tongue or Intimidate options in order to get through. If you can’t afford to do either, don’t worry. There is an alternate way inside. Just know that you can’t talk to Fence again once you’ve made your choices the first time, so if you plan on increasing your Silver Tongue or Intimidate skills anyway, you had might as well grind some Glory in order to gain the next level. You will need at least 15 of either in order to use their respective options during your talk with Fence.
If Fence can’t be convinced, you can always head around to the eastern side of the pirate camp, to the entrance facing the sea. Here you will encounter a second guard named Blake. Unlike Fence, Blake will be more sympathetic towards you. He will let you into the camp without much fuss. Either way, you will now be allowed to enter the camp from either entrance.
