Xenoblade Chronicles Guide- Walkthrough Part 74: This Was Getting Repetitive Anyway

Unfortunately, before you can build up enough charge for a Chain Attack, the fight dissolves into story.

Mysterious Face advances on Juju with horizontal hammer sweeps, forcing the boy to scramble backwards towards the edge of the platform.  Before he can fall off, though, the round-headed Mechon leans forwards and grabs him in its empty hand, provoking the party to rush him.  As the two charge at the hammer-wielder, Shulk shouts for Reyn to watch his back.  Confirming, Reyn abruptly turns and smacks his weapon against a pair of M53X that drop out of the sky before they even have a chance to unfold.

Mysterious Face sweeps his hammer out at Shulk, but the Monado-wielder ducks under it and rolls to the side.  Darting forwards, he attempts to hack into Mysterious Face’s foot, but the Monado just bounces off.  Startled, the blond is reduced to running and leaping backwards to get away from the machine, which starts trying to stomp him into the rock of the platform.  As he starts to complain about the Monado’s failure against the faced Mechon, Shulk is forced to interrupt himself to duck yet another hammer sweep.  Relenting, he expresses relief that he can still predict Mysterious Face’s movements.

Apparently a bit frustrated, Mysterious Face tauntingly praises Shulk’s ability to dodge, but also points out that no matter how good he is at evading, Shulk’s going to get tired, and he won’t- machines don’t fatigue like that, after all.  Shulk may or may not have had an answer- but before he can do anything else, he is forced to defend himself from still more M53X that drop out of the sky behind him.  Reyn jumps in between his friend and the machines, insisting that Shulk needs to focus on Mysterious Face.

As Shulk looks up, Mysterious Face lashes out not with his hammer, but with the hand holding Juju, forcing Shulk to try to deflect a fist several times larger than he is.  Staggered and thrown to one side, Shulk drops to one knee.  Mysterious Face laughs as he raises his hammer to flatten the swordsman, but when the weapon comes down a shot blasts into the side of the head, forcing it to smash into the rock off to one side of Shulk.  Annoyed, Mysterious Face looks to Sharla as she shouts for Reyn to try now- the blond lashes out at Mysterious Face’s hand with the sword, but the machine’s iron skin is still impenetrable to the arcane blade.

Declaring that he’s bored with the whole fight now, Mysterious Face leaps into the air- and comes straight back down, putting all his weight behind his massive hammer.  The shockwave shoves both Reyn and Shulk back, and causes Sharla to nearly tumble over the edge, leaving her hanging by the grip of one hand.  As the massive enemy raises his hammer, clearly preparing to finish off Shulk, something changes, part of the red energy running through the channels on his steely hide turning to a teal color.

Stopped somehow by this, Mysterious Face obliquely refers to being out of time, and calls Shulk lucky, opting to take Juju with him as he goes.  He tells the group that they will have to go to Colony 6 to get Juju back, but to hurry: he’s ‘feeling hungry.’

As the massive machine lifts off, Reyn shouts in anger as Juju calls out to his sister.  Finally, just as Sharla clambers up onto the platform, Mysterious Face and his companion Mechon vanish off into the sky.
