Dead Island: Riptide Walkthrough Part 31 – Sidequests – History Lesson
Once you can access the lower level of the Tunnels running from Palani to Henderson you can begin this quest. It is given to you by Dr. Kessler in the BioSphere Laboratory. Overall it consist of 3 Objectives: Collect a sample of the Toxic Substance, Collect a Tissue Sample and Find The Notes. This quest can very easily be done in conjunction with the story mission, “The Tunnels.” Be sure to activate it as you head down into the depths of the Tunnels.
Collect a sample of the Toxic Substance
Be sure to have “History Lesson” as you active mission. This will prompt a needed interaction that will not appear otherwise. Just after you get to the bottom of the ladder that leads to the old tunnels head over to the left. You will see a green, glowing substance. You want to collect a sample of that. That us the first objective completed.
Collect A Tissue Sample
Now turn to the left from where you collected the sample and head on through the tunnel there. You will quickly come to an illuminated section of the tunnel. Head to the end of it and you will see a strange corpse sitting on the ground. Go over to it and collect a sample from it. This will add the Wrestler entry into Dr. Kessler's Casebook.
Find The Notes
Head back to the where you collected the Toxic sample. This time start over to the right. Kill the Walker and head on through the door beyond them. Take the ramp down 2 then go over to the left and take the stairs up. As you go up the stairs you will find a few Walkers waiting for you. Head for the end of the walkway now. You will find another accessible portion of the area on the left. Go into it and look on the far end of the console there. You will find the “Old Research Notes.” That is the final piece that you need for this side quest.
With the samples and the notes, you can turn to quest into Dr. Kessler next time you can make your way back to the BioSphere Lab. Talk with him and he will reward you with a Gold Club
A New Machine (Continuous Event)
Talk with Dr. Kessler have you have received your reward for completing “History Lesson.” He will ask you to start bringing him electronic scraps so he can start working on a new machine. He will reward you with Taser Cartridges (and XP). This means now you can add Electronic Scrap to the Items for XP list. This is a good XP reward attached to this quest (like other others) so keep it in mind whenever you are close to leveling or want a short break from the zombie slaughter fest.
