The control priest deck, like all other control decks, has a simple objective: hold on in until the late game! Here you will have many spells to destroy the enemy creatures on the board but you can also bring these creatures onto your own side! The Thoughtsteal allows you a slightly random draw since you can copy two of your opponent's cards for yourself! But you'll also have some big creatures for the late game!
The Priest deck is one of the decks with the most targeted removal cards in the game! These spells allow you to annihilate any threat on your opponent's table!
One of the most useful "bam you're dead" cards since it destroys the targeted creature without dealing any damage! An excellent card for getting rid of an Acolyte of Pain, a Frothing Beserker or a Sen'jin Shieldmasta for example. This card is your best control in the early game with the Holy Smite and will win you precious time!
The second removal, for the biggest monsters! An enemy Ragnaros? A Boulderfist Ogre or an Ancient of War? No worries, the Shadown Word: Death is here! Basically, with your two shadow words, you can destroy all the creatures except the ones with 4 health points... And even then there are solutions, if you're faced with Ysera, use a Crazed Alchemist to increase your attack points and destroy it!
"Oh a nice Ragnaros... !" Just the kind of card we like to steal. Don't hesitate to steal a big legendary from your opponent: not only will he have lost a turn in playing it, but he's also played it for you! Ok so you won't be doing anything else in the turn, but he will have to deal with his own legendary!
The only AOE of the Priest, very useful against aggro decks and your only mode of defence against them! Basically the Priest is very strong at eliminating big creatures, but is quite vulnerable against an army! If you know that you are against an aggro deck, really try to use the Holy Nova at the right moment, it will definately have an effect on the game!
A card that can be extremely powerful or have the effect of a damp squib... But that's what makes this card fun to play! You draw two cards for 3 mana, which is a good ratio, but they will be your opponent's cards! You are just as likely to pick up legendary cards as totally useless ones! The only advantage is that whatever the cards are, your enemy won't know and you should play on this as much as possible!
The other cards in the deck are classics, you have the draw, some taunts and once again, as in all control decks, you have some big legendaries!
The + of the deck
Very fun to play with the card and creature steal!
Very annoying for your opponent who will be pulling his hair out!
Is still competitive in the current metagame where Priests are rare!
The - of the deck
Very aggressive decks will cause you misery!
Expensive!
