Black Desert Online

Beta news has been pinging around left, right, and center this past week and I’m okay with that, because that means stuff to look forward to! Where do we even begin? How about with the epic news that Black Desert Online will be launching in North America and Europe in early 2016 with a buy-to-play model, and an Alpha test due to begin “soon”! Along with language localization, Western players can expect changes to leveling progress, game balance, and the business model.

Star Citizen revealed a ton of news this week following Citizencon over the weekend, including their all-star cast and the news that more than 1 million people have now backed Star Citizen! As such, Alpha is now accessible for backers of all pledge levels.

North American gamers awaiting Overwatch should be delighted to hear that Beta got a date, and it begins October 27. This is an invite-only Beta test that you cannot purchase your way into and sadly, it is for North America only at this time.

Players looking for an MMORPG with hack ‘n’ slash combat may be interested in Devilian, Trion’s newest game. Already in Alpha, Devilian will kick off its first Closed Beta test on October 22.

ELOA: Elite Lord of Alliance

And WEBZEN’s anime-styled action MMORPG, ELOA: Elite Lord of Alliance, began their first Western Beta test on October 13. This will only last for a few more days with a server wipe at the end of the test, though the client is free to download for all so if you haven’t yet, check it out!

If you prefer a more traditional feel to your MMORPG experience, however, WEBZEN are also porting over ASTA: The War of Tears and Winds who will begin their public Beta test on November 3, due to last for the entire month. Progress will be wiped, but all participants will get a special thank you gift for taking part.

Meanwhile, Dragomon Hunter, the free-to-play MMORPG from Aeria Games in which you can hunt and tame just about every creature you come across, entered Closed Beta on October 15 with a brand new trailer.

H1Z1 pushed out an update this week that saw the first female zombie added, voiced by prominent Twitch streamer LegendaryLea, as well as a hospital containing a number of medicines and other supplies, and a few more clues behind what happened in the final days before the zombie outbreak.
