EverQuest 2: Getting to Know your Enemy

Dying is something you want to avoid in this free-to-play roleplaying game, as meeting an early demise will cost you experience points and also damage your equipment. In EverQuest 2, closely conning a target can decide between life and death. Any information on the monster you are about to encounter is considered useful and gives you an advantage. Taking a look at the creature’s Target Window gives you every detail that you might need: Difficulty, Level and Behavior.

The gorilla doesn't really mind your presence.

Whether it be scorpions, gorillas or gargoyles - mobs are designed to be fought by someone equal to their level. If you happen to be playing on your own, it's a wise choice to consider your target before attacking. While gray monsters are way below your character's level and can easily be defeated, anything that shows up red is impossible to beat. For more information, check out our chart:
  • Gray: Absolutely no risk, no reward upon killing, will not attack on its own.
  • Green: Very easy, the effectiveness of your skills and spells is noticeably improved.
  • Blue: Will only pose a threat if you are low on health or outnumbered.
  • White: The odds are even, but should not be too much of a problem if skills are used wisely.
  • Yellow: Challenging, only doable if you have buffs and above-average equipment.
  • Orange: Very low chance of actually defeating the monster without any help from others.
  • Red: Impossible to win. What would you like your tombstone to say?
The tooltip should also tell you how aggressive the targeted monster is and if it automatically attacks if you enter its aggro range. Look out for little arrows above your opponent’s name - they are another helpful indication of how much of a challenge they are. If there is none, you should be fine and have absolutely no problem defeating them, even if you are lacking high-quality gear.
