Plants vs. Zombies 2: Level 28 in Big Wave Beach

Big Wave Beach

Big Wave Beach

The Big Wave Beach world is really difficult. We wouldn’t exaggerate if we called it the hardest world in Plants vs. Zombies 2. When we reached level 23 and level 25 of this wet world, we had already thought that these were the hardest stages. As it turns out, however, PopCap really outdid themselves once again. After many tries, we finally found a safe way to make it through the 28th day of the Big Wave Beach.

The task is to survive with less than 5 of your plants getting destroyed. This is pretty difficult considering that this stage features not only a Gargantuar, but also Surfer, Fishermen, Snorkel, and Octo Zombies. Moreover, between the first and second wave of zombies, there is a tidal change, which surprises you with many zombies at once. Luckily, you have already unlocked the Banana Launcher for this stage. Equip yourself with this friendly plant, as well as with Twin Sunflowers, Sun-Shrooms, Lily Pads, Lightning Reeds, Bowling Bulbs, and Iceberg Lettuce.

Our setup at the end of the level.

Your timing and tactics are of utmost importance in this level. The central focus point of your strategy is the Iceberg Lettuce. First, plant a Sun-Shroom and a Twin Sunflower. Then, plant a Lightning Reed as quickly as possible to take out the first zombie. Focus on another Twin Sunflower before you position another two Lightning Reeds and another two Twin Sunflowers. Before the first wave of zombies arrives, you should have positioned three Lightning Reeds, four Twin Sunflowers, and one Sun-Shroom. More importantly, you should definitely have one Banana Launcher, which are expensive at 500 sunlight. However, they are important to take out the first Fisherman, who arrives with the first wave of zombies.

One Gargantuar and four Fishermen - freeze them quickly!

For the rest of the level, place two Bowling Bulbs on the top and bottom lane and another three Banana Launchers. The only way to win this level is to make use of every banana that you get. Always use them to destroy Surfers, Fishermen, Octo Zombies, and the Deep Sea Gargantuar. Most importantly, though, you should save at least two green leaves for the Iceberg Lettuce. Give a green leaf to the icy plant, when the waves of zombies arrive. Only then will you have enough time and focus to destroy all those pesky walking dead.
