Into the Dim guide - Tips and tricks to keep you from fading away

Into the Dim is a turn-based roguelike that takes some visual cues from the Game Boy and, although it looks pretty cute, it's no walk in the park.

Death is lurking around every corner down in the dim, so we've prepared some tips to keep you alive.

Patience is a virtue

You don't have to move or attack every turn. In fact, moving around too much or being too aggressive can actually get you in a lot of trouble.

It's better to wait in the periphery of enemies and let them come to you so you can wallop them with all your turns once they get close.

Beware the barrels

Barrels in Into the Dim are breakable, and sometimes they even have valuable coins inside them. That being said, you should be cautious when busting them open.

Why, you might ask? Well, occasionally barrels will explode which can cause damage or open up a path for baddies to come after you.

Hearts are a very valuable resource, so it's usually better to save barrel breaking for the end of a stage and when you have a good amount of health.

Pick locks at your leisure

Into the Dim does a pretty good job of trying to scare you into thinking that you can fail and get locked out of a treasure chest when trying to pick the lock. The reality of the situation is that you can restart or let the countdown timer reset without any real penalty.

Sure, the lock combination might change up a little bit, but you won't lose a turn, get hurt, or even miss out on loot.
