Fancy a challenge? Rust Bucket should hit the spot nicely then. It’s a turn based dungeon crawler that loves to punish you for not planning ahead.
We’re here to help you out with some tips and tricks to get you started.
Softly, softly
Take your time! It's a turn based game, so you don’t have to worry about doing anything in a rush. Instead, plan ahead and notice how each of your steps affect the movement of monsters in your wake.
You’ll be tempted to rush - I get that - but don’t do it as it almost always ends badly - especially if you get cocky.
Keep an eye on the red cross that indicates you’re going to die if you move to that spot, but mostly, just learn how the monsters respond to you.
Most games reward you for being aggressive, right? Rust Bucket isn’t like most games. While there can be plenty of monsters around, it’s not always a good idea to actively pursue them. Sometimes, you’re better off dodging them and living to fight another day.
Be nervous
One of the trickiest monsters to deal with early on is the gray lumbering statue, as you can’t walk into these to attack them.
Instead, you have to lure them towards bombs then activate them to blow them up. A cautious approach is everything here, as one wrong move can kill you and undo all your previous hard work.
Complete the tutorial
I know, I know. You want to get straight into the game, but be patient and complete the tutorial - it’ll teach you some important things about how Rust Bucket works.
More importantly, it’ll get you in the right mindset so that you have a better chance of figuring out what the best route to take is.
