An epic shooter game filled up to the brim with features and amazing graphics, you could say it is the Call of Duty – Modern Warfare of mobile phones! While game developer Gameloft is known for its games that are similar to other well-known console or pc games, does not mean they don’t do a good job at what they are doing. Modern Combat 5, or should we call it The Little Brother of Call of Duty, is critically acclaimed and has been downloaded over five million times with a rating of 4.2 out of 5 on Google Play Store and a 4.5 star rating on iOS App Store. So put on your Kevlar, lock and load your weapon and get ready for an all-out war!
Modern Combat 5 is all about individual levels and objectives that you need to complete. Leveling up and unlocking other weapons, choosing and training your favorite soldier class. There even is a multiplayer build in, if you like a challenge and want to play with your friends! Every level has its own three objectives. You need to complete these objectives in order to be able to progress through the game.
Completing a level by finishing all three objectives will give you a three star rating. The more stars you earn, the more experience points you get. Completing levels will reward you with experience points. By leveling up, you will unlock more weapons and gear, after which you need to pay credits to buy them. Killing enemies during the levels will also reward you with experience points. Sometimes the level design can get a bit confusing so there is an arrow at the top center of the screen which shows you in which direction you are supposed to go.
Just like many shooter games on the PlayStation, Xbox and pc platforms, you can earn ribbons for specific things that you do in-game. For example, if you shoot enemies from a long distance you will get a marksman ribbon, and for shooting enemies with headshots will get you executioner ribbons. All the ribbons will be added up at the end of the level and you will be rewarded a hefty sum of experience points.
Before you start a level, you can go to the loadout section of the game. In the loadout you can choose your soldier class, primary weapon, secondary weapon, grenades and headgear. There are five types of soldier classes and each one of them has their own advantages and disadvantages. Each of the classes also have their own class skills which you can unlock by using skill points. You earn skill points by leveling up. You go on missions by tapping on the play button and going to the world menu. On this menu you can expand campaigns by clicking on that specific icon, after which you will see that there are several levels in one campaign.
You can upgrade your weapons in Modern Combat 5 by adding attachments to them. You can also see the weapon information and statistic which is useful because according to that you can pick your right primary weapon for your next mission.
It costs three energy bolts to play a level. You have a total of ten energy bolts. You can restart a level any time you want for the cost of three energy bolts. Successfully finishing levels occasionally replenishes your energy bolts. You need to wait five minutes for one energy bolt to replenish or pay ten credits to refill the whole bar.
There is a multiplayer mode in the game where you can engage in battles either by yourself or with your friends. There is a nice global chat system implemented for people who wish to communicate in Modern Combat 5. You can also start your own squad and have a squad members only chat window. There are events you can join, but you need to hurry because these are only available for a short while. If you miss an event, you need to wait a while for the next one. Completing events will give you nice rewards at the end.
Modern Combat 5 In-game store
In Modern Combat 5, there is an in-game store where you can purchase several things to have an advantage in the game. The most important item you can purchase for real money are credits. By having stacks of credits, you can purchase a lot of other items in Modern Combat 5.
The first thing you can purchase with credits is a power user subscription. These subscriptions have a time limit, and within that limit you will get a whole lot of advantages during your gameplay. You will receive and unlimited energy bar, more experience points and gun experience points and a lot more. Prices for the subscriptions start at 40 credits for the shortest subscription of two days up till 450 credits for the longest subscription of one month.
Secondly you can purchase class bundles with credits. There are two types of class bundles, the basic and advanced one. The basic bundle unlocks all weapons up to and including tier three and upgrades the first four class skills. The advanced bundle unlocks all weapons up to and including tier six and upgrades all eight class skills. Bundle prices change depending on which soldier class you play as, but they can be as expensive as 2000 credits for one bundle.
Prices for the credit packages vary from $4,99 for the smallest package of 100 credits up till $99,99 for the largest package of 2300 credits.
If you are playing Modern Combat 5, then you know that there are in-game items you can purchase to give you upgrades and advantages. These items include skill points, ammo, god mode, and weapons, but these in-game app purchases cost real money, and this is pricey.
We at AppGameCheats have put out a free hack tool, which you can use on both Android and iOS to get as many skill points, ammo, god mode, and weapons as you want.
Look at the picture below to see how the Modern Combat 5 hack generator options menu is setup, which is really easy to use, and it is completely safe for your device.
Simply download the Modern Combat 5 hack tool, which takes about 30 seconds. You will notice that the hack generator automatically installs, which also takes about 30 seconds. Then, simply choose which device you are using, either iOS or Android. You can then input how much skill points, ammo, god mode, and weapons you want to add to your account.
Click “Start” to begin the hack generator once you are ready, which takes about 1 minute to complete. Once the tool has finished working, all you have to do is open up Modern Combat 5 on your device, and you will see that the items have been added to your account. You can then use these items to help you through the game, and you can come back and use the hack tool as many times as you would like, all for free.
There are certain websites on the internet that claim they have working cheats, hacks or mods for Modern Combat 5. With these alleged cheats, you can have unlimited credits, unlock every weapon and every class skill, which normally would cost you many dollars to purchase. Beware of these sites because while they might look professional, they are fake and only try to make money off of you. They do this by making you fill in a survey before you can even download the so called cheats. Once you have filled in the survey and downloaded the files, you will soon find out that you have been duped. It could be worse though, you could have downloaded a nasty virus onto your computer. Instead of risking this by looking for cheats, follow the tips and tricks I will give you to improve your gameplay.
Controls and movement speed are two very important things in Modern Combat 5. If you feel like somethings not right when you try to aim for the enemies, or you have a hard time turning around, you should go into the settings menu and adjust control and aim sensitivities according to your likings. While this particular tip will not make you godlike, it will still guarantee that you can move, aim and play the way it feels right for you.
There is a glitch in Modern Combat 5 where you can crouch behind an obstacle and the enemies will never be able to hit you, or barely hit you. The bullets will fly past you or only hit the obstacle in front of you, while you can easily aim at the enemies and shoot them down one by one. While doing this, you should try to shoot as many headshots as you possible can because headshots give you twice as much experience as normal kills. (Headshots are fifty experience points and normal kills are twenty five experience points).
Many times you will encounter that enemies are hiding behind obstacles to take cover from your bullets. Watch your crosshair when you aim at them because even though they are behind something, you will still be able to shoot them if your crosshair goes red. You should also always pay attention to explosive materials in the surroundings. Use these to your advantage, because shooting gas canisters, gas tanks and barrels will result in a big explosion, annihilating everyone.
Upgrading your weapons in Modern Combat 5 is very important but I would advise everyone to skip the upgrades on tier 1 and 2 weapons. These weapons become too weak when you progress through the game, so you would have wasted a lot of money on them for nothing. Instead try to upgrade only tier 3 weapons and up. This will assure that you can continue playing without having any trouble from the enemies.
I am absolutely impressed with the way Modern Combat 5 looks visually and plays. If I didn’t know any better, it would seem like I am playing a well-known shooter game on my console or computer. The very first thing you notice about this game is that the graphics are absolutely stunning, beautiful and probably forcing the limits of mobile phones. It takes some time to get used to the two-thumb controls but once you have played a few levels, this will be no problem. Modern Combat 5 starts with a nice tutorial that teaches you the basics of the game.
You will learn that you have three objectives which you need to complete in order to get the maximum amount of experience points. You will also learn basic movements, aiming and of course killing enemies which stand in your way. After you have completed the tutorial, you go through your soldiers’ loadout and in-game store etc. There are a ton of features which you can explore in Modern Combat 5, be it single player, multiplayer or events. Another positive aspect about Modern Combat 5 is that there are no advertisements. You won’t see a pop-up or banner ad that will obstruct your gameplay, which is a very good thing for a free-to-play game.
Unfortunately, there are also a few negative aspects. Players get limited because of an energy bar implantation. You lose three energy bolts for every single time that you play the game, and it takes five minutes for one bolt to replenish. I find this such a huge turn off in free-to-play games because of the fact that you cannot play the game as long as you want to, rather a few levels at a time. Another big negative aspect about this game is that you always need to be connected to the internet to be able to play, even if you want to play single player mode. This is because the developer does not want people to use the time lapse cheat or any other cheat for that matter.
It also feels like the developers tried to change Modern Combat 5 into a cash grab because of the fact that in-game credits and the items you can purchase with these credits are so damn expensive. There is a class bundle which costs 2000 credits, which is almost one hundred dollars’ worth of credits. The developers should really think about lowering prices.
Artwork: I give Modern Combat 5 a 9/10 for its artwork. Modern Combat 5 is packed with a lot of action and a lot of visual effects. The graphics are astonishing, especially for a mobile game. It really felt like I was playing a shooter game on a console. From the first moments in the tutorial you already notice the amount of time the developers spend on making Modern Combat 5 as beautiful as possible. The environment in this game is very detailed, such as the buildings, the objects in the levels, the soldiers themselves and even the weapons are drawn very nicely. Last thing I wanted to add here is that the effects of weather, the sunshine, water splashing on your face and gunfire are some of the very best I have ever seen on a mobile game.
Music & SFX: I give Modern Combat 5 a 7/10 for its music and SFX. Unfortunately I did not find the soundtracks and sound effects in Modern Combat 5 as appealing as the visual effects. This doesn’t mean they were bad at all just that I would have expected a bit more from it seeing that the developers seemingly spend so much time on the graphics. The soundtracks sounded like something out of an action movie, they were good but not quite there yet. This is because I would have expected the soundtracks to give me a thrilling feeling, making me excited to play the game, but it didn’t. The sound effects were pretty decent, gunfire and explosives sounded very nice and realistic and other SFX such as menu button taps and in-game store all fitted together pretty well.
Story & Originality: I give Modern Combat 5 a 7/10 for its story and originality. While there are many shooter games out on the app store, Modern Combat 5 still is a very decent game. The tutorial starts with a back story and the story continues on through the other levels that you play. Modern Combat 5 does lack a bit of originality because I have played a couple of games before that had similar controls and game mechanics, such as the loadout, in-game store and weapon customization.
General Gameplay: I give Modern Combat 5 an 8/10 for general gameplay. Once you get used to the game, everything becomes pretty straightforward. This isn’t meant to be negative though because Modern Combat 5 has a lot of features to explore. The controls and objectives are stated clearly so you won’t face any surprises once you start playing this game. The fact that the story continues as you progress through the levels, gives the gameplay a very nice touch and a satisfactory feeling.
Addictiveness: I give Modern Combat 5 a 6/10 for addictiveness. This could have been one of the most addictive games for players that love shooter games, but this gets ruined due to the fact that you have an energy bar that limits your playtime. You can play three times before you run out of energy and need to wait fifty minutes for your energy bar to fully replenish. Of course if you do not have the patience to wait, you can always spend real money to replenish your energy bar. I don’t mind that developers want to generate an income by implementing an in-game store but limiting players with energy bars or lives is just a big no go for me.
All things considered, I give Modern Combat 5 a 7/10.
