Coming into My Railway, I didn’t know much about what it was going to be, I think the App Store description was unclear. And after completing the tutorial, I still wasn’t completely sure. My Railway just dives you into building your first train line without even a “hello, new mayor of our city”. After struggling at first to get what it was all about, somewhere along the line it just clicked and soon my wallet was booming like the Wolf of Wall Street, trading and selling stocks up and down. My Railway is a game that you have to put time into, but if you give it a chance, there’s a lot you can get out of it.

The gameplay in My Railway has your standard waiting for things to complete freemium spin on things, but it comes with the genre, and if you can accept the ads and pop ups telling you to purchase this bundle or hook your account up for Facebook which I still haven’t done, then the polished gameplay shines through. That’s why these games can continue to build an audience, above it all they’re just fun games to play and share with friends.

My Railway doesn’t offer much in terms of customisation for free users, but the daily free spins and the constant achievements being completed and unlocked, and your player level increasing because of them, it always feels like your moving towards some kind of goal. Artwork: I give My Railway an 9/10 for Artwork. My Railway has some really quaint and memorable characters that I had a great time seeing, and watching your trains glide across the landscape is a calming mobile experience unrivalled by most. The Artwork is very well done here.

Music and SFX: I give My Railway a 9/10 for Music and SFX. Even though the background music in My Railway is looped, I still haven’t got tired of hearing it. The tracks are pleasant to listen to, and as far as sound effects go, the toot toot sound makes this game wonderfully charming.

Story and Originality: I give My Railway a 7/10 for Story and Originality. My Railway doesn’t feature a strong storyline, but with a game of this genre, a story would most likely be a hindrance. I would have rated the game more in this category, if it didn’t have a paywall behind a lot of features, similar to other popular apps.

General Gameplay: I give My Railway an 8/10 for General Gameplay. My Railway was a very fun experience and is must play for train enthusiasts old and young alike.

Addictiveness: I give My Railway a 9/10 for Addictiveness. My Railway thrives on making you check your trains every five to ten minutes. If you don’t be careful, this game could quickly take over your mobile phone.
