In the beginning of the game, Mirrors of Albion opens up with the inspiration of the game, Lewis Carroll, the author of the original book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. After this dedication, Mirrors of Albion open up with the plot of the game with the missing girl to be none other than Alice Fleming. You are selected as the detective who must solve this case of the missing girl, Alice Fleming. Who invites you to this challenge? Yes, the Cheshire Cat. The Cat informs you of the missing girl as well as introduces you to the challenge that you will have to face on the way. The cat urges you to search for clues that are found all around London in order to get closer to finding Alice Fleming.

Although an otherwise free game, Mirrors of Albion is filled with a couple of in-app purchases. These in-app purchases are very helpful in solving the puzzle to get to the next clue in oreer to get farther in this story. Mirrors of Albion is a energy type game. What I mean by that, is that you have to watch your energy during the game because your actions are limited by the amount of energy that you have. This energy is refilled after a certain amount of time, but is limited by the amount of actions that you do. So every action costs a certain amount of energy. This causes you to not play the game for hours on end, but rather help you play some, and then gives you a break from playing. The parents will be thanking the game for giving their kids some breaks from this game.

From the interface of the game, players will experience a nice bit of tutorial and cleanliness that the game has that allows users to navigate rather easily throughout the game. Mirrors of Albion are a bit different from other puzzle solving games because in other games, you were previously required to find multiple items per screen that you face. If you didn’t manage to finish finding all of the items on the same screen, you would have to start over and try again. That meant that it was harder to finish progress after you had finished a finding a couple of hidden objects. With Mirrors of Albion, you’ll be given one hidden object to find. This means that you can easily get through progress picture by picture because there is only one thing to find. So you can stop after you find that one item and be done for the day. This makes for a good on-the-go game that’s easily played wherever you want to immerse yourself in some play. You can go ahead and play for a short amount of time, finish a puzzle in 3 minutes, and look up to see your bus stop right ahead of you.

On occasion, the screen is really confusing and cluttered due to the amount of different objects in the room. Other times, the screen is so clean, that it’s simply obvious where the hidden item is. But mostly, the game is really fun and requires you to really look in the tiny cracks of spaces in order to find the objective. Some scenes are special in that the setting is in night time, or there’s a fog that inhibits your vision. In the early parts of this game, the puzzles are extremely easy, to help warm you up to the harder ones ahead. It’s like making the game progressively easier as you go along so that you get some training so that the mysteries later, feel easier.

Mirrors of Albion entices you to buy a couple of in-app helpers so that you can more easily solve those cluttered ones that I talked about before. I’ll talk about the various in-app helpers in the Cheats and Tips. But the producers do want to make money from this game, so they add in a couple of extremely difficult levels so that you’re almost forced to use help in order to solve the problem. Even though they do this, it’s still solvable, and you have the ability to get through most of the game without having to use any power-ups or helpers. All in all, there won’t be a real story to follow, because you will get farther and feel closer to the game, but there isn’t really that good of a storyline besides the excessive amount of stalling that they do so that you don’t solve the story and continue playing the game until you have made some purchases to benefit their game.

After Cheshire talks to you about the situation, he allows you to search around the city and you will be able to go to a couple of buildings that you go look around. After you complete a map, you gain experience to help you level up and also get through more of the story to give you a little bit more excitement. You will also have the capability to do quests that also help you level up and give you a bit of a side story that is just as exciting. These quests will also give you an advantage in the future so that you don’t have to go back and do the quests from the beginning. Quests will also help you regenerate some experience points, energy, and some item rewards that you might need later on. Another aspect to the game is that you are grade based on the speed that you finish a puzzle. If you manage to find the items fast, you will be able to receive a point multiplier that will allow you to gain more points in a shorter time. This will help your score out. The items that receive from the quests that you get will turn up in the “collections” section where you can use whatever you get from your quests, and work your way up to get a bigger clue that will help you get farther into the game.

Mirrors of Albion Cheats and Tips

If you want to increase your mastery level, you have the ability to play a map or stage over and over again, receiving the same amount of gold and experience points every single time you finish the map. By replaying a stage, you will be able to find whatever you need to find extremely quickly because you already know where it is on the map. This makes finishing the stage almost instant. You also start to benefit from the speed bonus that you receive when you the rounds quicker. As I talked about before, you receive bonus points if you do the stage faster due to a bonus multiplier that you get for doing the round quicker.

When you run out of energy, you have the ability to do a nice cheat that will replenish all of your energy. I’m sure you have heard of it before, but you can turn the clock on your device forward, so that the phone thinks that the amount of time that you set it to minus the time that it was, has passed so that you will regen the energy for the time that “passed”. That means that you have the ability to continue playing until you get really bored of the game. If for some reason, you don’t get all of your energy back, you can set your clock back and that should restore all of your energy. Don’t worry about your energy if you set your time back. They aren’t able to deduct energy from your account even if you go back in time.

When you look at a stage for the first time, you want to look around to find most of the items before actually looking for anything that you might find afterwards. You save time and gain that multiplier that I talked about before. That way, you won’t lose any time because once you start tapping, the clock starts and you begin to lose bonuses or you lose points because you don’t finish as quickly. So a good strategy to try and counteract the fact that you need to go quick is to try and find every object that the game requires you to find before you begin clicking, or at least as many as you can find. This is also an effective way of getting more mastery because you will have a higher score with less time spent.

Now to talk about the boosts that help you in game when you are having a lot of trouble or are simply stuck.

First of all, each player will have the option to use a hint or a boost. You have to have a hint in the inventory for you to use it. That means that you should purchase a hint before you start going through stages that you might find tough in order to be able to use it when the round begins. The available hints are as listed, Spark, Tesla Coil, Magnifier, Lantern, Strong Latner, Chain Lightning, Compass, Thermometer, Edgerton Flash, Bruce’s Watch, and Bomb.

The spark will allow you to see an item by firing a flash at the item that you’re trying to search for. This will make your target reveal itself by giving off a bright glow compared to the rest of the page.

The Tesla Coil will depend on your luck when using it. When you swipe your finger around the screen, your finger acts as a revealer and will reveal anything when you swipe across. So anything that you manage to touch, will be revealed.

The magnifier is similar to Tesla Coil but instead it will highlight any items that you pass over. The Tesla Coil will make things glow. So the Tesla Coil is good for using at night when something glowing is more obvious than something that is simply highlighted.

The Lantern helps you see in the dark by lighting up the room a bit so that it’s easier to see. The strong lantern works the exact same to the exact same effect, but you get more bang for your buck in that you get an extended amount of time.

The chain lightning isn’t really the same as the Tesla Coil, but it shows you where 5 items are on the map. This is useful when you really can’t find anything on the map

The compass is effective in finding the general direction of what you’re looking for in the round. This doesn’t particularly help that much in terms of time, but it’s still a decent hint.

The thermometer is basically like a warmer and colder game. The closer you are, the higher in temperature the little graphic has it at, and the farther away you are, the colder the graphic gets.

The edgerton Flash will simply light up a place that you select where you want it to be brighter in a dark location.

Bruce’s watch is essentially a time stopper where you can start to look for items on the map for 40 seconds, trying out every nook and corner. This will also help you get a ton of time bonuses because it will be as if no time has passed between finding items.

The bomb is just like a chain lightning, but it finds 6 items instead of the 5 that the chain lightning finds.

Mirrors of Albion Review

To start, this game’s visuals are really detailed and amazing in general. The details on the Cheshire cat are really visually appealing. For once, a game has pretty good music to go along with the game. Mirrors of Albion has some really visually appealing aspects to it, including the amount of different artwork that had to implemented into the game.

Mirrors of Albion gives you a really good rundown on how to play the game. The tutorial is simple and easy to follow without getting confusing in any part of the game. Mirrors of Albion is really functional in the way that hints work and the city-like map makes it feel like more of a mystery than forcing you to go to one map to another; you can walk around where you want, and if a puzzle is troubling you, you can take another path somewhere else. Along with that, you will find a ton of new characters that Mirrors of Albion has implemented into the game. The game also hints towards the final boss or enemy who captured the girl.

Although Mirrors of Albion has some really good aspects to it, some of the rounds in Mirros of Albion feel a little bit forced into in-app purchases. I’m sure that that’s what they want ultimately, but they shouldn’t make it so obvious in making it so that it’s almost impossible to solve the puzzle without using a hint. Also, the repetition is real in this game, especially in the beginning, where it’s the exact same type of puzzle every single time. There’s no stop to the number of items that you have to find, without too much adventure.

I feel as though, if you get further into the game, it gets more exciting from sheer anticipation on whether you will actually find the girl or not. It has a fun quest system that gives a feel of the other popular games that are out right now, as well as implementing a certain amount of social media to the adventure. You have the capability to compare yourself against your friends and be able to face your friends one on one to see who can find the items faster. The want of etting five stars is also a good aspect that causes people to try harder and get those five stars.

Later on, you also face different levels, for example, one at night where you are almost forced to search using a lantern(what I mean by having to purchase in-app items) in order to light up the area so that you can continue in your adventure. They probably put these stages later because you want to find out who took Alice and also solve the mystery more than you did in the beginning, so they make it so that they try and pull you in to the point where you can’t back out without purchasing something. You can still get pretty far in the game, but that’s just pulling you harder into the game.

Ratings

Artwork: I rate Mirrors of Albion a 9/10. The details on each character and each object is really well doen, and really is the appeal of this game, otherwise you might be playing any other kind of mystery solving game.

Music and SFX: I rate Mirrors of Albion a 7/10. The music is actually fun and interesting at times to make the game somewhat more exciting while you’re playing it. The only thing that I’d want is that you could play your own music during the game so that you aren’t getting sick of the in-game music like a lot of other games.

Story and Originality: I rate Mirrors of Albion a 8/10. It’s based off of a book, so I can’t give it too many points for being anything original, even though they did mention the author. So I can say that it’s different in terms of the story of the game, but not original in the type of game that it is. The story is really good because it gives you a feeling of excitement about finding this girl in a gigantic city.

General Gameplay: I rate Mirrors of Albion a 8/10. The gameplay is really fluid and the hints are really easy to use. Even though I don’t particularly like this type of game, it’s still a good game in terms of gameplay simply because the game is really fluid when you play it, so I can imagine a ton of other players really enjoying this game for its gameplay.

Addictiveness: I rate Mirrors of Albion a 6/10. The game might not be very exciting to play in the game due to its repetition, but it’s just so that you can warm up to the game. Once you get further into the game, it gets more exciting and more addicting to continue playing.

Overall Rating: Overall, I rate Mirrors of Albion a 8/10.
