Gun Zombie: Hellgate comes to us from developer PNIX Games. It has over 5 million downloads on both iOS and Android and averages a more than respectable 4 out of 5 star rating from 200,000+ reviews. Gun Zombie: Hellgate is a free to play zombie shooting game, in the same vein as old classic arcade games such as House of the Dead.
The gameplay is simple. You select what gun you want to use from the weapons you have unlocked, then you select the level and stage you want to play. Unlike the on rails shooter arcade games such as House of the Dead, you’re instead stuck in a single spot and cannot move. You aim the reticle with your left thumb- lining up your shots, and you fire by tapping the screen with your right thumb. You kill zombies until there are no more zombies to be killed in that particular level. If you let the zombies get too close before killing them they’ll hit you, taking out part of your health bar. Naturally, if you lose all of your health you lose the stage.
There are a couple of additional things you need to be aware of as well. During a stage, you can refill your health at any time for the hefty price of 1000 GP. This is frankly never worth it, as there are no consequences for failing a stage and you can always just try again. There are two additional premium items you can use in any stage- bullet time, which slows down all of the zombies, and grenades, which damages all of the enemies on the screen. These items are not necessary in order to complete any level, but if you happen to get overwhelmed then they’re quite handy.
There is a copious amount of weapons that you can unlock through gameplay, and additional weapons that are cash-only purchases. As you play through stages- whether you win or lose them- you get XP for your weapon and it levels up, increasing its statistics. Weapons cap at level 10, so there’s a limit to how powerful they can be, necessitating you unlocking (or purchasing) additional guns to get stronger. You can unlock most guns through the GP you earn by beating each stage, with you earning more GP (and therefore being able to buy the new guns faster!) if you score better on a stage. You’re judged on a letter scale, with S being the best, A the next best, then B, and so on down to D- I haven’t managed to get anything lower than D and still pass the level.
You have a limited amount of ammunition per stage, so if you go in with a weaker gun, there’s a chance you’ll be left with no ammunition and therefore no way to fight back against the zombies- or to win that stage, behind using the bought powerups.
You might be sitting at home playing Gun Zombie: Hellgate, and if you are, then you know that grenades and all weapons are essential to the game. You can get these items through the app store, but it will cost you real money, and this gets expensive really quick. Due to how popular the game is, we have decided to add a Gune Zombie: Hellgate hack to our database, which gives you the grenades and all weapons for free.
Look at the image below to see how the Gun Zombie: Hellgate hack tool works. Just enter the amounts of grenades and all weapons that you want to add to your account using the options menu.
Download the Gun Zombie: Hellgate hack right here from our website, and it should take about 20 seconds to download. You will notice it automatically installs afterward, which should take about 30 seconds or less. Then, select either Android or iOS, and you can then enter the amounts of grenades and all weapons that you want to add to your gaming account.
Lastly, tap “Start” to begin the Gun Zombie: Hellgate hack tool, and this takes less than 40 seconds to complete. Then, simply open up the app on your device, and you will notice that the grenades and all weapons have been added to your account.
Always keep leveling up and upgrading your guns. You can only bring the starting pistol so far before it becomes obsolete. Your guns level up very quickly, and do so whether you win or lose, so if you’re stuck on a stage but your best gun isn’t quite max level yet, just keep trucking away at it!
Reload your gun whenever you’re able to during a level. Your gun can only hold so much ammo in a clip, and later stages have a habit of ramping up the challenge significantly near the end of a level. Running out of bullets during one of these large swarms is almost certainly deadly, as it takes a little bit to reload.
Never bother to use the health refill powerup– it’s never worth the cost. 1000GP is a hefty amount of money, and there are no consequences to failing a level, you can just try again.
Getting S rank in a stage gives you additional rewards, including bullet time and grenades! Try to get S rank in every stage you play.
Headshots are your best friend in the world, seriously. A headshot does more damage, which means that you kill zombies faster, and therefore stand less chance of being overrun. Headshots also mean you use less ammo to kill each zombie-for instance, needing 2 shots instead of 3. This means that you’ll have extra ammo- a necessary thing when you’re playing on harder stages.
Headshots are your best friend. I’m repeating this one again to drill home how important it is! Headshots are required to get the best rank in a level, which is required for the best GP reward so that you can proceed through the stages, and it also gets you extra grenades and bullet time!
Don’t use a grenade or bullet time powerup unless you’re positive you can get an S rank on that particular stage so that they’re replenished. It’s fine to use them, but it’s generally not a good idea to waste them, as you can only get so many free ones.
You can post to Twitter and Facebook after a level in order to get a significantly increased GP reward. I would suggest this, as it will help you progress through the game much more quickly.
Play everyday so that you can complete the daily missions. As you complete successful and successive missions each day of the month, you’ll get progressively better rewards!
Gun Zombie: Hellgate is perfectly playable without buying anything. The ads are unobtrusive, there isn’t an energy mechanic to make you feel as though you have to spend real money. In fact, some of the purchases I would actively warn against you buying! You can buy upgrades that ruin the challenge (and the fun) of the game, such as infinite ammo, or the ability to never have to reload your gun in a stage. These are permanent upgrades that, in my opinion, take the fun out of the game- they’re essentially cheat codes that you have to pay for. Any purchase will remove the ads, but they’re not obtrusive anyhow, so you won’t feel pressured to do so. I was annoyed by the fact that a significant amount of the guns can’t be unlocked and must be purchased with real money. Bullet Time upgrades and grenades are scarce, but if you follow my tips above, you shouldn’t actively need them, and when you do need them, they’ll be replenished. You can also get free grenades and bullet time by installing and playing advertised games.
Artwork
The graphic are mediocre at best, but that’s what gives them their appeal. I’m not sure if PNIX intended it, but it feels like an old 90s arcade game with the pixelated graphics and janky animations. This gives the game a sort of retro charm, reminiscent of games such as Doom. If you’re a fan of nostalgic graphics in games, you’ll get a hoot from this one. There are jumping zombies that don’t actually have a jumping animation, their sprite just goes up and then comes down. If you’re expecting a AAA or more modern game’s graphics, you’re going to be disappointed. If you’re comfortable booting up games such as Doom, you’ll find the same style here.

Music & SFX
This was perhaps the worst issue with the game. The sound effects felt clipped and chirpy, and I had several instances where the sound effects wouldn’t trigger until a half second after I pushed a button. They’re serviceable, but they certainly won’t be winning any awards.
4/10
Story & Originality
There’s no story to the game to speak of, so the earlier comparison to House of the Dead is a little half baked. You just kill zombies and progress through stages. It’s not very original, drawing heavily on the arcade games it’s a callback to. It’s still nice to get this same nostalgic feel on mobile, though!
4/10
General Gameplay
The gameplay is generally good. It’s reminiscent of those earlier zombie shooter arcade games I’ve mentioned. The game ramps up the difficulty well, with larger spawns of zombies and new types of zombies introduced- including zombie dogs. The gameplay itself is a bit more simplistic than I would have hoped- a rail shooter like House of the Dead would have been more fun in my opinion- standing in one place starts to feel stagnant.
6/10
Addictiveness
There’s no energy mechanic, so you can play as much as you want. The feeling of leveling up your guns and unlocking new ones is pretty good, and there’s a cathartic feeling you get from mindlessly killing zombies. There’s not a whole lot to the game, however- the varied enemies don’t really add much more than a color swap and more health after a certain level.
6/10
Overall: 6/10
Gun Zombie is a great nostalgia trip down memory lane for anyone with fond memories of playing old arcade shooters. If you’re not interested in recapturing that experience, you’ll likely find the experience a bit shallow and that it falls flat if you compare it to modern games. This isn’t a flaw, as it’s intentionally harking back to an earlier era in gaming- recommended for fans of that old era.
