LEGO Ninjago Tournament is an Action and Adventure game developed by The LEGO Group, a company known for all the LEGO games on the market (currently having more than 20 titles available). The game has a 4.3 out of 5 rating on Play Store and 4 and a half stars out of 5 on Apple’s App Store. It has been downloaded for about 2 million times and has a PEGI 12 content rating. The game requires an Android version of at least 4.0.3 and for iOS devices at least iOS 7.0.
In LEGO Ninjago Tournament you take the role of a young ninja that wants to achieve success and to be the best ninja in the world and in order to do that he must fight endless waves of opponents in the arena of a shady dude named Chen. The game is all about fighting in the tournament so if you expect something else you will probably be disappointed.
Surprisingly, there are no in-game purchases with real money of any kind. The game has 2 resources from which one can be obtained by completing challenges and can be exchanged for special rewards and the other one called Studs is the basic “resource” and can be used for buying power-ups and unlocking different ninjas. LEGO Ninjago Tournament does not require a sign-up nor there is an option to do that so be careful not losing any data. The game is available in 11 languages and there are no ads running.
The action-adventure game, LEGO Ninjago Tournament, is so much fun, but you need so much health and gold to progress in the game. The app store has gold and health that you can purchase, but this will cost you real money, and most people find these items are too expensive to keep buying through the app store. If you would like to get the gold and health for free, then you need to check out our LEGO Ninjago Tournament hack tool.
If you take a peek at the image below, you will see how easily the hack tool works, since all you do is enter the amounts of gold and health you want right there on the options menu.

Dodging can be pretty tricky but it’s a must. Enemy bosses will have special attacks that really need to be evaded from because they will hurt a lot.
Complete the Daily Challenges because that’s the only way you get LEGO Coins and you really need them.
In Tournaments there are random events that can occur. For example the Boulder Blaster that strikes with rockets from the sky or the Dragon that spits freezing bombs on the battlefield. Be careful to dodge and try to lure your opponents into them to make your job easier.
Every boss encounter from the game is scripted which means that you need to learn his pattern and special moves in order to know how to defeat him. Repetition is the key.
Don’t spend Studs on skin variations for different characters. They don’t bring anything new beside visual changes and they are totally not worth it.
Even though each character level-up gets you small bonuses (extra HP, extra damage, new weapons), it also increases the difficulty of the opponents. Keep that in mind
There is more than one Special Move in-game. Most of the characters have Spinjitzu as their special move but there are also some other special moves like: Charge Attack, Air Strike, Overload, Toxic Cloud, Boost, Angry-Shouts and so on. Find one that matches your play style and enjoy the game.
Best starting character that can be bought with Studs, in my opinion, would be a ranged one. Ranged characters are easier to play in any game and LEGO Ninjago Tournament is no exception. For example, Fang-Suei is cheap and pretty powerful.
I was always a big fan of the LEGO franchise and even though LEGO is more fun to be played with in real life, the fact that they have such a successful video games department is great. Not so long ago they started developing mobile devices games and LEGO Ninjago Tournament is one of them. I was intrigued by the game and it left me with a decent impression after I have played it.
LEGO Ninjago Tournament is in fact just a tournament. I was very enthusiastic about the possibility of who-know-what ninja adventure game but I soon realized that all that I can do is to fight in arena. Where is the Adventure from Action-Adventure genre? I like the fact that there are tons of characters and that I fight with weird looking things but it is not enough. I was disappointed because I found out that I am not able to develop a character the way I want to (there are 5 levels of difficulty and some power-ups but that doesn’t mean development).
One of the things I like about this game (there are things that I like too, shocking, I know) is the theme. Ninjas are always interesting to see or to play with but they introduced a lot of advanced technologies in the game (such as helicopters) and also some medieval technologies (such as dragons) and of course some weird things (such as ninja that are spitting acid clouds) but that’s the beauty of the LEGO Universe – anything can be possible.
LEGO Ninjago Tournament is the kind of game from which you can’t expect much because it is only virtual LEGO game but somehow gets under your skin no matter how good or bad turns to be. The best characterization I can come with for this game is that it is a children version of Mortal Kombat where Mii Characters (Nintendo’s Wii Avatars) are competing. The only thing violent in the game is when you are pressing too hard on your device’s touchscreen. LEGO Ninjago Tournament is a fun game that it suited for everybody so go ahead and install it – your children will surely enjoy it and even though you will probably not admit, you will too.
Artwork: I give LEGO Ninjago Tournament 7 out of 10 for its artwork. Everything is fine with the artwork. The game is funny-looking in a good way and everything is colorful and childish. The environment is looking great and the character designs are nicely done. However, there is only one arena and a training dojo and all the characters are lego-made which means that they are basically the same body with different hats, facial expressions, clothes and weapons. While all these are looking great, it does not really mean that the game’s artwork is out of the ordinary or special in any kind. The game looks just like a LEGO game would look and nothing more and it won’t be fair to other Action-Adventure games to give LEGO Ninjago Tournament a higher rating.
Music & SFX: The game gets 8 out of 10 for its music. The sound effects are awesome and a bit silly from time to time but they match with the game’s theme and that is pretty important. The music is also funny and is suited for LEGO Ninjago Tournament. I like the fact that there is an entire soundtrack available for the game even though it is casual. The developers accorded attention to this aspect of the game and I think that every developer that wants to aim high should do that. On a side note, the fact that the enemies laugh when you fail to grab them is one of the most annoying things that I have ever encountered in a game but this is just because it is so well done. Nothing fancy, nothing hard to implement – just a well-thought idea.
Story/Originality: I give LEGO Ninjago Tournament 7 out of 10 at this segment. The game is part of a very complex story about the LEGO Ninja franchise but for people like me that don’t know anything about that there is no story whatsoever. In terms of originality there is no discussion that the game copied or got inspired from anywhere but the LEGO Franchise. In general LEGO games are inspired from real-life very popular movies but this game is the proof that the company can make fine games nevertheless. If they would have explained briefly what is the story behind the game (for example who are the main characters or why are we fighting in a tournament) I would have given the game a higher rating – it just feels targeted for a specific audience and I don’t really like this.
General Gameplay: The game gets 7 out of 10 for its gameplay. It is an action game so the controls are intuitive. However, if you think you are not prepared, there is a tutorial that explains to you everything you need to know about the game so no need to worry. Overall, the game has got no major flaws but it feels a bit unnatural. You need to get used to the way special moves acts (for example when you use Acid Cloud you will be pinpointed to the current location). The dodge can be a bit tricky, as I mentioned before. One thing I don’t like about the gameplay in particular is that you can’t customize your controls at all and this may become an issue for lefties.
Addictiveness: LEGO Ningago Tournament receives 6 out of 10. The game is funny and it is perfect for players that have some spare but I don’t think it has enough content to be very addictive. The fact that there are around 100 playable characters is amazing and I think that this game is one of the few that reached this amount and the developers should be proud but unfortunately that is not enough. All you can do in LEGO Ninjago Tournament is to endlessly fight in a tournament – and the fact that you can do that with 100 different characters is not making-up for the lack of content. There is also a leveling system implemented that gives the game an interesting allure and there are some temporary boosts that can be bought with Studs. No extra content, nothing to do, no achievements, no multiplayer, no real progression and that’s sad.
Overall, LEGO Ninjago Tournament gets 7 out of 10. The game shows a lot of potential.
