Beast Quest Cheats & Hack for Coins & Gems

Back in my childhood, Miniclip was one of my favorite sites and I was a diehard fan of their ‘bubble trouble’. My elder brother would scold me whenever he found me playing games from Miniclip and always said “Miniclip’s games contains viruses”, but I knew that he was just messing around to keep me off computer so that he could use it.

When I came to know that Beast Quest is developed by miniclip I was intrigued to review it and before Beast Quest I wasn’t aware of Miniclip’s arrival into the mobile division. Beast Quest, originally, is a series of children’s bestselling Fantasy Novels and this game is an adaptation of these novels. It’s not very often that we see adaption of novel for games and above all ‘a children’s novel?’, which does raises a question about the target audience of this game, is it for children only or grownups too? Let’s find out.
Beast Quest is a free-to-play cross platform game available for Android, iOS and Windows mobile based devices. This game is also available on Miniclip’s website which requires unity web player, making it available to computer users too. Beast Quest’s Latest version is 1.2.0. To play this game Android users requires minimum android 2.3 (gingerbread), iOS devices needs to be on minimum iOS 6.0 and Windows Phone 8 is minimum required for WP. This game is mildly graphics intensive so to get a lag-free experience mid-range devices are required, otherwise the experience shouldn’t be that bad on entry-level devices too.

Except the arrangement of Boss beasts, Beast Quest exactly follows the story of novels, covers three out of six of them, and boasts an open world play; means you can roam freely around the world on your own will, just like in Grand Theft Auto. The game takes place in fictional land of ‘Avantia’ where an evil wizard Malvel tamed the mystical and protective beasts of the land, raging chaos all over the place. With many great fighters perished, no one was ready to take a lead but Tom a young lad from a village stands out. Now you will take your role as Tom, and go on an expedition to bring all the beasts from their evil state to what they were. As the game covers three novels, you will face three different gigantic beasts in their respective maps. The first one is Nanook’s world, where you will free Nanook, The Snow Monster, from Malvel’s evil spells. You have to unlock rest of two which requires diamonds. Cheaper of the two is Sepron, The Sea Serpent, his map is Western Ocean and requires fifty-nine diamonds. Last one is Epos, The Flame Bird, she rules over Stonewin Volcano and requires eighty-nine diamonds.

The gameplay is partly a RPG and remaining is more like an exploring adventure game. You will start off tracking Nanook in the icy plains. A small tutorial will guide you about your movement controls and combat controls will be elaborated latter when you’ll face Nanook for the first time. The controls are a bit different here than what we are used, mainly because you will either fight or move but not both in this game. For movement, there is a button on left side of the screen pressing that will make Tom move forward, to rotate or change direction you will swipe your right hand’s thumb across the screen in all four directions. There is no jump option which does imposes some difficulties, if you accidently even take a small leap off a terrain you might have to take a long way back. Combat mode is divided into two parts, attacking and defending. There are three on-screen buttons. Two on the right and one on left side. Pressing button with sword icon will make Tom attack an opponent and if you keep the button pressed for a longer time the attack will power-up dealing a greater damage. Rest of the two buttons are for strafing to dodge enemy’s attacks, other than these you will avoid secondary attacks i.e. snow balls, knifes by pressing and/or swiping them away. You’ll also have a shield and to use just press it. There are limited number of damages that shield can absorb and after that you will have to get it repaired by paying gold coins.

The exploring part is pretty cool but gets repetitive. In whichever part of the map you might go, the tasks almost remains the same. You will have to fight off few beasts, might even encounter the boss several times before the main battle, find and collect different elements or material i.e. wood, arctic herb etc. demanded by different characters, there are also treasure chests hidden away from normal eye sight that will give you gold coins, diamonds and maybe artifacts too. There is also a health bar you have to watch out for, you will find different herbs and berries which can help you to recover your health. The length of the health bar can be increased using health upgrades and different Amulets. You can also recharge your health by using life potions and safe houses. Safe houses are located on every part of the map. Here you can rest and spent the night for fifty gold coins to recharge your health. Luckily, there isn’t any energy system so there’s nothing stopping you from playing Beast Quest continuously. There are two currencies of this game. Gems are the primary and, somewhat, premium currency of the game. These are used to purchase almost everything but are limited in numbers. The secondary currency is Gold Coins and these are basically used for upgrading the player.

Winning fights will grant you experience points, gold coins, diamonds and in some cases artifacts, and if you lose a fight your health and gold coin will reduce by ten percent. Experience points are required to upgrade level of Tom, leveling up replenishes health and unlocks new level of Armor, Attacking Power and health. There are seventeen levels of each of these three upgradables and gold coins are required, in increasing amount, to obtain these. In different part of the maps, the enemies will be of different levels, even mini bosses and sometimes you might face more than one enemy at once, so upgrading will be necessary. Artifacts are required to complete a Rune, Amulet and Emblem. Each of these requires four artifacts and gives additional power and/or abilities (i.e. more attacking power, absorbs damage etc.) to Tom.
Near safe houses you will find two shiny chests. Blue one is called Aduro’s Magic Chest, you have to pay seventy gold coins to open it. There can be four different outcomes. The minimum you’ll get is a consolation prize that will be experience points, other than that a silver prize will give you one diamond, a gold prize will give you few diamonds and a bulk of experience points and platinum will give you both diamonds and experience points many times more than that of gold prize!! The other larger one is called Ancient chest. It requires five gems to open it. It gives life potions and varying quantities of gold as consolation prize, while rest of the prizes includes varying types of artifacts. Every area contains their own equipment, achievements and treasures, percentage completion of attaining these and of overall map can be checked on the main map selection screen right after starting the game.

Although, this game is free to play but it does features in-app purchases to speed up the game. There are three different types of in-app purchases available. The first one is related to gems. You can get twenty gems for $.99, fifty gems for $1.99, one hundred-twenty will cost $3.99, three hundred-twenty will set you back by $9.99, and the last package costs $24.99 and gives eight hundred-fifty gems in return. Gems can be traded with gold coins, one gem gives one hundred-twenty gold coins. The second section is related to mix stuff required during expedition i.e. if you’re not able to find treasures and other hidden quest items you can purchase Master Cartographer for $1.99 or double the chances of finding artifacts by paying $1.99 dollars. Last section just contains two packages, first package is called ‘Adventurer Pack’ and costs $1.99. This packages gives twelve hundred gold coins, five life potion and twenty-five gems. The last package is called Warrior Pack and gives forty-two hundred gold coins, ten life potions and sixty gems for $3.99.

Beast Quest can save its game data offline but it also features synchronization with Google Play Games.. There are twenty-four achievements to give your Play Games’ account a boost to level up. Six out of these achievement are Secret ones, so you cannot see what it was until you’ve achieved it. These achievement aren’t easy like other games and ranges from defeating an Ice Golem till freeing Epos from dark spells. There aren’t any online leaderboards for comparison nor any Facebook sync option.

Here are few tips too to keep you on the right track:

Save gems instead of spending them, as you will need them to unlock new maps.

Never use revive because gems required to revive increases after every time you use it.

Spend your coins before entering a boss battle to make sure you don’t lose much of them.

Don’t use Artifacts Chests but instead save gems to unlock new maps.

You will only have to fight enemies when you they appear on your screen area while you’re crossing them, you can avoid them by going against the wall and turning your face away while cross them.

A user is restricted to watch five videos per day and watching one video gives one gem, watch all of them daily to fill your shortage of gems.

Beast Quest Review

Beast Quest’s starting was Impressive when it comes to the artwork. Although, the game lacked minor graphical details and artwork was nothing like they had portrayed in advertising pictures but it hits the right spots. Few might not even notice the lack of details initially because you have to divert your mind from the gameplay. The UI of gameplay was simple and somewhat striking. There are guidelines present but even without them the scenario would have been the same due to simplicity it offers but map view lacks many things, it doesn’t tell about the enemy’s’ location during full view mode, you cannot jump between safe houses to save time, difficult to understand the terrain’s level, no indication of bridges or other reusable items and above all there aren’t names to recognize different parts of map.

They could have created a less repetitive game!!! Why the beasts comes back to life again? Why everyone you meet requires a lost item to be found? It’s all just repeating itself again and again. Because of this gameplay repetition sounds feels repetitive too!!! There aren’t any voices in the game which keeps the sound section dry but other than that sound details are there. The menu music is intriguing, background music is decent, there are footsteps’ and item collection’s notification sounds hence overall package is decent except the repetition part.

The difficulty of gameplay increases with a steep gradient making it difficult to proceed without upgrades. You might face shortage of gold coins if you don’t utilize them properly and you will be left with two options either you can waste more of your time by going back and fighting beasts again or use in-app purchases. The controls are a bit different than regular third-person games, yet they easy to get hold on.

This game looked so promising and could have been much more but unbalanced distribution between adventure and action, slow and hectic game progression and mostly repetition let it down. How come it is possible that you’re spinning around tribes and you always encounter one person from each tribe? And it might have adapted the storyline of a children’s novel but the gameplay is not for them, parents will be forced towards in-app purchases by their kids (maybe something that developers want?).

Ratings

Artwork: I’ll give Beast Quest a 7/10 for its graphical representation. The bases of everything are there but they requires polishing, as previously mentioned if looked closely artwork looks smudged and lacks details. They tried few decent effects like snow fall, footprints and slow-motion attacks and they succeed to leave a good impression.

Music & SFX: I’ll give this game another 7/10 here. The sound effects does gives an adventuring feel. Enemy roars just before the battles is a nice gesture but maybe it’s the music itself or it’s just because of the gameplay, music feels extremely repetitive as you proceed through the map. At the last but not the least character voices would have been a nice addition.

Story & Originality: Beast Quest gets 7.5/10 for following novels. No doubt these novels might be best selling but it doesn’t take us away from the fact that there are hundreds of games with the same story of saving places from evil curses but they tried to mold it to give it a different touch hence inclusion of beasts and a background story gave it its reward.

General Gameplay: I’ll give Beast Quest a 7/10. Initially fun and easy to start but gets bored as you go ahead. This rating could be a lot better if they, anyhow, could speed up the game progression and maintain a proper balance between adventure and action, remove illogical repetitive fights with beasts, and make either gems less important or decrease the difficulty to obtain them.

Addictiveness: I’ll give this game another 7.5/10. I’m afraid but I’ve to admit that Beast Quest is addictive. The repetition factor only get severe after completing approximately half map but till that it will be too late to stop yourself from proceeding ahead and the same cycle will repeat for other maps too.

Overall I’ll give Beast Quest a 7.5/10. I’m not saying that execution was poor but it could have been way better than this.
