Who wouldn’t want to be so famous, that everyone would know their name? Maybe even live the life of an A list celebrity? Getting into a position like that is not an easy feat and you might need to take simpler jobs first to climb the ranks. In Stardom: Hollywood you can test whether you are fit to the top celebrity life.
Stardom: Hollywood is a game by Glu, a veteran developer who has created a huge amount of games over the years. Some of the most well known gems of theirs include Diner Dash, Gun Bros, Contract Killer, Deer Hunter and Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.
Stardom: Hollywood is rated 4.2/5 stars on the Google Play Store and 4.5/5 stars on the Apple App Store. The game promises to show you the ways of a real celebrity, but does it do a good enough job? Let’s check it out!
Before you start your playthrough, you will have to choose if you want to play as a female or male star-wannabe, then outfit your character with a limited selection of clothes, accessories and hair styles. The available selection will be much bigger later on, once you have enough money and stars.
The game’s story begins with you being a totally average person living in a run down apartment, barely being able to pay for it. You are struggling to find enough money to pay for rent and will get in trouble if you can’t find a job soon enough. Your dreams are to become a star and a celebrity, but the harsh reality is that you will have to take way worse jobs first. Fortunately, your friend is able to secure you a job at the local Starbeans coffee shop, which is where your legacy will start.
You will have to talk with the owner of the coffee shop first, before you can get to work. Talking with him gives you multiple answers to his questions and if you answer correctly, you will get the chance to start working immediately. Talking with people works the same way in the whole game, you will get multiple answers or lines to say and will have to choose between them in each conversation. Some of them will advance you and make people like you, other lines will make them angry. There are a lot of conversations in Stardom: Hollywood, so keep this in mind!
Once you start your shift at Starbeans, you will be met with one of the main gameplay elements: repeatedly tapping on things. You will have multiple things shown on your screen as blue markers and each will cover an action, like wiping the table, making coffee, taking out the trash. Tapping on one of these will consume energy from your energy bar, but completing each action needs more taps and more energy spent.
Working in gigs, commercials and TV shows later in the game also work the same way, but you’ll have other tasks shown, like trying product, reading lines, changing clothes for the gig and more. These tasks will also cost more energy and you will have a limited time to complete the job. If you are able to get 5 stars in the time limit, then you finish the job perfectly, get some new fans as well and will advance the celebrity list. If the time is up and you couldn’t finish the job yet, then you’ll get the currently shown star rating and get less fans.
At the top of the screen you can see multiple counters, including the XP bar, the energy bar, money counter and the star counter. The XP bar obviously shows your current level and how much you need to level up. The energy bar shows you how much energy you have left and is a limiting factor in what can you do, as most actions in jobs cost energy. If you run out of energy, you won’t be able to work and will have to wait. The money counter shows how much money you currently have. The star counter shows your available stars, which can be used during specific conversations to bypass them using your charm or you can spend these in the clothing shop, along with cash. Cash and stars can also be bought for real money and cost anywhere from $0.99 to ~ $77.99, while energy can be bought for stars.
Completing actions in Stardom: Hollywood also award cash, energy, XP points and stars. These will be randomly thrown around the current place and you have to tap to collect them. Tapping random trashcans and similar objects on the maps also throw some of these around for you to pick up.
The story of the game is presented and advanced by a system called goals. Goals will always show the next thing to do to advance your carreer and they work like quests. These goals can cover anything from landing a role in a TV show to putting on a more fitting dress for the current job.
Of course there is a changing wardrobe in the game, which you can access almost always from the bottom of the screen. You can change your clothes and even your facial structure, eye color, hair style. Basically you can change anything you want, but some of the new options will cost cash or stars. Changing into nicer clothes time by time will also help you get noticed more by media.
Other than working in small time jobs and climbing the celebrity ladder with smaller gigs and commercials, you can also flirt with other people on your contacts list and date them. You can try to date anyone, regardless of gender, the only limiting factor is how much they like you, so flirting might help with that. Relationships have multiple stages and if you successfully date, or even marry someone, you will get more fans. Keeping up a relationship is worth it for the fans, marriage bonuses and also because the person will break up with you if you neglect them for a long time.
Going to parties or to popular pubs will also get you more chances to get to know famous people and let you flirt with them, or make them help you get ahead in your career. People might move from one spot to another as time passes by, so be careful!
If you have enough money, have a lot of celebrity friends and became somewhat famous, you will also be able to buy a house in Stardom: Hollywood. Once you have found a home perfect for you and furnished it the way you like, you will be able to buy pets, and if you are married, your spouse will also stay at the house.
If you are sitting at home playing Stardom: Hollywood, then you probably have noticed that stars, cash, and energy are needed to get through the game and get the items you need. You can get the stars, cash, and energy through the app store, but you will need to use real money to purchase these items, and this gets expensive. If you would like to get the cash, energy, and stars without spending a dime in the app store, then you need to download our free hack tool.
Check out the image below to see just how simple the hack tool is to use. All you do is go to the options menu and then enter the amounts of each that you want to add to your account.
Simply download the Stardom Hollywood hack tool right here from our website, which takes about 30 seconds. You need to wait about 30 seconds while the hack tool automatically installs on your device. Select iOS or Android, and then you can input the amounts of stars, cash, and energy that you would like to add to your gaming account.
When you are ready, press “Start” to begin the hack tool, and it should take about 30 seconds for the hack to finish. Once that has finished, you can open up the game on your device, and you will see that the stars, cash, and energy will be sitting in your account ready to use.
As for cheats, remember that you can tap all kinds of things on the maps like trashcans, boxes and even birds. They sometimes drop XP, cash and energy that you can collect. This can help you get that much needed energy or cash you lack for your goals. Other than this method, you will have to spend real money most of the time, so you are better off getting energy using these cheats.
As a tip, you should also remember that you have a time limit on all of the jobs you get, so if you can’t complete one immediately, you can wait as long as it allows and go back to it later to finish the filming. Meanwhile you can go and search for extra energy on the maps.
Another tip I can give you is related to your style. Cloting your character in more expensive and nice looking clothes will get the media to notice you more often, therefore getting you more possible jobs and fans.
You should also remember to start the game up at least each day, since you might lose some fans if you don’t keep visiting it. I know it might be annoying, but that’s how it’s built.
My story in Stardom: Hollywood started just as everyone else’s, I was a nobody and had to take small jobs and work at the coffee shop. Soon after I got to know a celebrity in a bar I scored a simple commercial, where I starred and completed it perfectly. This was the point when I became an E list celebrity, with 1200 fans. From then on I had to take more jobs, since I still didn’t have enough money to live by. The landlord of my apartment was also asking for 500 dollars, while I only had 320, so I had to get another gig fast.
This is basically how the game went for me, going from one shooting of a commercial to another until the moment my energy ran out. Then I decided to wait a day to make my energy regenerate and come back to the game. Soon after completing the next job my energy was gone yet again, as it required so much.
I found myself to be wandering aimlessly around the streets, tapping on trashcans and birds, as both drop some energy and cash sometimes, but once I was done with that, I was left with only the possibility of talking to people or dressing my character.
While the promise of the game is interesting and the gameplay is good enough, I can’t disregard the fact that tapping on things can be unresponsive at times, which can be really annoying when you have to tap a lot of things that just fell on the ground or if you want to complete multiple tasks in a short time.
There is also the issue with the long wait times I have mentioned before. I get it that the developers want people to spend real money on their game, but it intentionally limits the enjoyment. Progressing can be really slow after a while “thanks” to this.
Overall I both liked and hated Stardom: Hollywood for various reasons. The gameplay and the promised progress up the ranks can be great, but the execution, especially the energy system could use a lot of work.
Artwork: I give the artwork in Stardom: Hollywood an 8/10. It’s a crisp and good looking game. Almost all of the textures look nice and clear, with beautiful backgrounds and character models everywhere. I really liked this style, good job to the developers!
Music & SFX: The music gets a 7/10 from me. The music in this game is surprisingly great. The songs are almost studio quality and are varied enough as you progress in the game. The only issue is that if you stay at the same map for a long time, music will stop and not start again, this needs a serious fixing, in my opinion. The SFX is also pretty good, although less noticeable than the songs.
Story & Originality: The story of the game deserves a 7/10. While not so original, the story is executed well enough to warrant this rating, with a lot of witty and interesting dialogue. The goal system helps you be organized and always know where to advance next.
General Gameplay: The general gameplay of Stardom: Hollywood gets a 5/10. While the gameplay is fun on it’s own, there are some issues that hold it back somewhat. Tapping on things can be unresponsive and make you tap multiple times before it registers what you want to do. Waiting for energy to regenerate is also a chore and takes a long time, so you won’t always be able to finish jobs without spending real money or accepting that you can’t get a perfect rating without doing so.
Addictiveness: The addictiveness gets a 5/10. While the game could be really addicting, the energy system kills some of it. Waiting so long for it to regenerate is the bane of the game and the only reason why people might be turned off of it. Otherwise the gameplay would be good enough to make you want to come back to it, especially since you lose fans if you don’t check in for a while.
Overall Score: 6/10.
