It is nice to see that there are different difficulty settings in the game, because some players enjoy having a challenge, just like me. The graphics are pretty nice and have a “space” feeling to them. There are a lot of glowing neon lights and special effects, which is also very nice. There are no soundtracks in the game, but a lot of high quality sound effects.

Another very positive aspect about Glow Hockey is that there are no playtime limitations implemented into the game. This means that you can play Glow Hockey whenever you want, however long you want. This is always something I look forward to in mobile games, because I hate to be limited by energy bars, timers or lives. Artwork: I give Glow Hockey an 8/10 for its artwork. The graphics in Glow Hockey remind me of space, for some reason. The graphics have a neon touch to them, which is very nice and really works well for the type of game that Glow Hockey is. It is also very nice to see that there are many special effects and animations in the game, which are also of high quality. Having these animations and special effects makes the game feel more alive, and makes the gameplay more thrilling in my opinion. What I like the most about the special effects is something called “particles”, which shows up when you shoot your puck against the wall.

Music & SFX: I give Glow Hockey a 7/10 for its music and SFX. There are no soundtracks in Glow Hockey, but I my opinion, it does not need any. Having soundtracks would perhaps annoy players and put them out of focus. The game does have several sound effects, which are very nice and fit the whole “air hockey” theme of the game. The sound effects range from “paddles hitting the puck” to “spacey main menu button clicks”. I really like the fact that the developers of Glow Hockey took their times to develop and design high quality SFX, which also happen to fit the graphics of the game perfectly well.

Story & Originality: I give Glow Hockey an 8/10 for its story and originality. There are dozens and dozens of air hockey games on the app stores, but none of them are as popular as Glow Hockey. This game has been downloaded over a hundred million times, which means that it is one of the most popular mobile games out there. I have never played an air hockey game before on my mobile device, so every feature in the game is pretty original for me. There is no story behind the game, but it does not need one at all, because Glow Hockey is an arcade game. I would have expected more features in the game, but the way it is right now will have to do.

General Gameplay: I give Glow Hockey a 7/10 for general gameplay. The gameplay in Glow Hockey is pretty straightforward, right from the start. There is no tutorial, but a game like Glow Hockey does not really need one anyways. Unfortunately, the gameplay is also cluttered due to the fact that there are many advertisements in the game. This makes the gameplay pretty annoying and you often get obstructed by pop-ups that show up out of nowhere. Luckily, the controls are very smooth and responsive, and the user interface fits the overall glowing theme of the game as well. It would have been nice to see more game modes though, and perhaps some challenges in the game, such as achievements or objectives.

This would really enhance the game and allow random players around the world to battle each other. Right now, the gameplays are never ending, which is not challenging or addictive in my opinion.
