Ready for another game in the LINE Series featuring the same characters that we all know and love?  Brought to you by LINE Corporation, LINE Trio has come out and LINE Trio is now available for all iOS devices who have maintained their updates and have a compatibility of 6.0 later.  Most updated devices should be able to play LINE Trio unless you have not updated your device in a while.  If you are unable to play the game, simply connect your iOS device to your computer and download the most recent update so that you can play LINE Trio and really, all LINE games.  LINE Trio is available in a ton of different languages including Czech and German.  There is a wide variety of languages to choose from, making sure that everybody who wants to play the game, will be able to regardless of language or ethnicity.  LINE Trio is in its version 1.0.10, meaning that it has been through a couple of updates, but still a fairly new game.  This version came out in July 24, 2015 so LINE Corporation is really keeping up with the game and making sure that there are as few problems as possible with LINE Trio.  You can be assured that if there is a problem in the game; it will be solved soon.  LINE Trio is not a huge game in terms of size either.  It takes 72.4MB, which is about the average size of a game.  This specific LINE game also contains over 140 stages that you can play so it is understandable why the game is the size that it is.  Ultimately, if you want to play this game, the only thing that is going to stop you is the compatibility with your computer.  Just make sure that you are keeping up with the most recent updates in the device compartment and LINE Corporation will take the rest into their own hands. Each stage in LINE Trio is based off of the number of moves that you have in order to make sure that you get to the designated score that is give to you before the start of every single stage.  They will also give you the number of moves that you have to do it in.  There is a goal and then there is another goal where you try and aim if you are trying to go above and beyond.  The second goal is much more difficult and requires a lot more good decisions in order to reach that goal.  If you don’t manage to reach the second goal, you will still move on to the next stage because you only really need to finish the first goal.  If you don’t make it to the first goal by the time that you have used all of your moves, you will fail and have to restart the entire stage.  The gameplay is very similar to that of Candy Crush where you have to go through a couple hundred of stages and keep making progress while the game also gets constantly harder as you make your way through the game.  LINE Trio is almost like a cover up of Candy Crush except with the LINE characters instead of the candy.  So you can really see the similarities between the two games if you just replace the LINE characters with candy.  Both contain multiple stages as well as a number of moves that you can do before you have to reach the designated goal that you need in order to finish the round out.

The producers of LINE Trio will give players ample time in order to figure out how the game works in terms of the blocks and how you can combo them in order to score more points as well as the bonuses that the game gives you for scoring multiple lines in a row in one move.  They will also give you a tutorial on the special blocks that the game has which give some stronger abilities.  One of the most important abilities that the game gives you are the special blocks that can blow up an entire row as well as an entire column of blocks which will give you a ton of score just from that.  

Although LINE Trio is very similar to Candy Crush, the game is a bit different with the characters as well as the storyline of the entire game.  I will talk about the storyline later on and how it is kind of odd and not really following the game itself. There is also a difference with the end of each stage.  At the end of each stage, you will be given an additional turn where you can score as many points as possible with the detective’s bonus which might give you the extra points that you need in order to make it to the next stage and not have to repeat the same stage over and over again.  LINE Trio does offer a decent amount of stages that you can play through for free.  The only thing that makes the game some money is the advertisements that they put out as well as the difficulty of the later stages.  The difficulty of the later stages make you want to use some of the currency, Rubies, which give you some additional helpers in order to get to the designated score that you want.  Because of the difficulty of the level increases to a somewhat impossible point, the game almost requires you to purchase a couple of rubies in order to get past the round and move on to the next stage.   

For the social networking aspect of the game.  There is an option to see your friends and their progress as well as what they scored on the stage that you are at.  So you can happily compete with your friends in terms of score and trying to oneup each other for each stage, however, there is not good one versus one where you can see both of your screens and see who is doing better in real time.  I think that is the real future of app games which some games have already implemented, but I really think that it would add some amount of competition and make people feel like they need to get better at the game until they beat their friends.  That is what is being implemented into the most recent computer games, and would work as well here in the app world.  Because LINE Trio is lacking this in their game, it makes the game more of a solo adventure instead of trying to constantly get better at the game until you have reached the end of the game.

Cheats & Tips for LINE Trio

For starters, the game will begin with you having a limited number of moves until you have score a certain number of points or you simply run out of turns.   This will give you an opportunity to try out new moves and experiment on the falling of the blocks to your advantage if you manage to reach the goal before your move limit is exhausted.  The best part about LINE Trio is that you aren’t limited by the number of hearts you have or energy that you have.  So you don’t have to wait until you have reached enough energy to play the game or anything but rather you can just continue to play.  Honestly, I don’t even know why games add that aspect to the game.  It bores players out and makes the game really boring after having played it for a while.  So because you aren’t limited by the number of lives that you have in the game, you can continuously try and improve your score over and over again until you have maybe reached the second goal and get full stars from it rather than just the regular two stars or one star.

One important aspect of learning how to play this game a lot more effectively is seeing where the blocks fall after you make a combo.  If you see that they combo so that the falling blocks are combined together as well, you will be able to score a lot more points and have a lot more luck in terms of getting those long streaks of combos together so that you can easily reach the goal without any trouble.  You can also use this trick if you want to go two or even three moves deep in figuring out where everything will line up.  This will make the game a lot more easy to play and will even make it so that you probably don’t have to spend rubies on any part of the game, but can rather solve this entire game without any in-app purchase.

The start of the game is where you want to take your time.  You are limited by the number of moves that you have and not the amount of time that you have which means that you can take as much time as you want in order to find the right combos.  You want to make sure that you are getting off a good combo before you make the move.  If you don’t, you will be wasting a move that you could have used in order to get off a good combo.  The higher number of blocks you incorporate into a combo, the higher score that you will receive for that combo.  So if you combo a three block together, you will be getting much fewer points than if you were to combo a 5 block together.  So it’s also about the number of blocks that you are able to combo together.  Although, getting more combos off instead of the number of blocks that you are able to get off is worth more.

 

Even if the game seems like it is based off of luck and where the blocks are landing as well as which blocks you get, a lot of it is skill and knowing where the block is going to land.  Good players will have an easier time playing the game and might not have to spend any money completing the game, but less experienced players might have a bit of trouble playing the game and will probably require using a lot of rubies in order to finish the later stages of the game.  So there is a difference between good players and bad players.  If the ga2me was based off of luck, it would not be so difficult and be a really easy game to complete regardless of whether you understood how the falling blocks worked or not.

LINE Trio Review

Overall, the graphics in LINE Trio are pretty decent, but it is what you expect from any other LINE game.  It has a cute main character and then the character is simply uploaded into a pre-existing game mode, but if I were to judge LINE Trio as a solo game, it is pretty good compared to other games.  The combo flashes and the actual blocks themselves are really pleasant to look at and makes the game more fun to play as well.

LINE Trio does add this additional detective bonus to the game which makes the game a bit different from other games, but it isn’t significant and it is pretty much just like adding a bonus move to the game, so it really is nothing special other than a bit of a different name to it.  The game is also a pleasant game to understand and play so it isn’t difficult to figure out and extremely obvious if you have played a game similar to this in terms of playstyle.

The difficulty of the game is a little bit over the top when it gets to the later stages.  The game does try and make money off of you by making the stages later so much harder that you can’t do it without purchasing a couple of in-app purchases in order to get an advantage for that stage, so I would say that they overdid it, but if they want to make money, they probably did the best thing possible, which is making the game be difficult enough for people to purchase some bonus rubies.

I would recommend LINE Trio to anybody who was interested in the Jewels Saga series or anything like that or anybody who would like the gameplay.  I think this game is fine for anyone of any age because it is not inappropriate in any way and it is more of a thinking game which appeals to the larger audience.  The bunny rabbit or main LINE character is a bit cutesy which could draw a couple of players away from the game.

Through the reviews, people have complained about the crashes that occur from the game but I wouldn’t worry too much about it because as I talked about above, the game is really updated quite often.

Artwork:

I would give LINE Trio Review a 7/10. I think that although the artwork is a bit similar to other games, it does have this idea of adding the LINE characters to it making the artwork a bit unique and the artwork is pretty classic LINE games where they just add the LINE characters into the game which makes the game a bit more cutesy than what you might expect.

Music and SFX

I would give LINE Trio Review a 3/10.  The music a bit too cutesy for me and makes the game kind of change its focus from all players to childish players.  I don’t think that the game has terrible music, but not music for adults of any sort.  The sound effects are decent, but they are the classic sound effects that you will expect from a game of this sort.

Story and Originality

I would give LINE Trio Review a 5/10.  There is indeed a story to this game, but it doesn’t really follow the game itself.  You are trying to solve a mystery by playing this game and going through stages?  It doesn’t really make too much sense.  It isn’t original at all and it makes it kind of a coverup of every other Candy Crush-like game.

General Gameplay

I would give LINE Trio Review a 4/10.  The gameplay is pretty average without anything too surprising that the game adds.  The detective bonus is not really spectacular and doesn’t really add too much to the game which other games don’t have.  I think to make it more unique, they need to add some other aspect to the game which other games don’t have.

Addictiveness

I would give LINE Trio Review a 7/10.  If you haven’t played games similar to what I have just described to you, then I could definitely see it being pretty addicting.  

Overall Rating

Overall, I would give LINE Trio Review a 4/10.
