I have played many mobile games over the years and have seen a lot of game designs, but I have never seen a game like Ready Steady Bang before. The game design is very minimalistic, but the developers seem to make it work very well. A very positive aspect about Ready Steady Bang is that it has a minimalistic design, where you basically only see two cowboys on a screen and shoot at each other. I like this fact because it means that the screen won’t be cluttered with all kinds of information, which I would not need at that moment. Another very positive aspect about Ready Steady Bang is that it is not a pay-to-win game. There are no in-game stores, currencies, boosters or power-ups available in the game, which means that you will need to be able to properly play the game, in order to win against your opponents. What I also really like about Ready Steady Bang is that there are no unnecessary soundtracks or sound effects in the game. This means that you will be able to concentrate and focus better on the gameplay.

Ready Steady Bang is a small and simple game, is entertaining to play, but unfortunately it also has a few negative aspects. For starters, it seems like the developers of Ready Steady Bang have decided to implement a lot of pop-up advertisements in the game. The pop-ups show up exactly when you are needed to tap on your screen, which is very annoying and it makes it feel like the developers are trying to trick players into accidently tapping on the advertisements. This is both very obstructive and annoying, and a huge turn off from the game itself.

The second negative aspect about Ready Steady Bang is that there are only ten outlaws to duel against. Of course, once you have beaten all ten outlaws, you will be able to duel them again, to beat your own score, but in my opinion, it would have been much better if the developers simply added more outlaws to the game. I would have also liked to see different designs for the different outlaws in the game, other than a name and speed change. Many players are asking the developers to add more content to Ready Steady Bang, because the gameplay is very fun and original, but it does not seem like the developers are reading any reviews. Artwork: I give Ready Steady Bang an 8/10 for its artwork. The graphics in Ready Steady Bang are very minimalistic, and I really like it. A game such as Ready Steady Bang does not need any high end graphics to make it work, and the developers have figured this out. What I really like about Ready Steady Bang is that there are many animations in the game, such as when you shoot an outlaw, when you miss, or when you win a duel. Having animations really makes the gameplay pop, and makes the game more entertaining to play. The only thing I would have wanted to see is different designs for different outlaws, and perhaps add more outlaws to the game. Right now, there are only ten outlaws, which means that the gameplay is pretty short.

 

Music & SFX: I give Ready Steady Bang a 7/10 for its music and SFX. There are no real soundtracks playing in the background, but a game like Ready Steady Bang does not need any. It is all about concentration, and if the gameplay had soundtracks, it could take players out of their focus and annoy them. There are several sound effects and special effects in Ready Steady Bang, such as when the game tells you to get ready, stead and fire! I like the fact that the sound effects confirm if you have missed your shot or not. Just like the graphics of the game, the sound effects are minimalistic as well, which makes them fit well together.

 

Story & Originality: I give Ready Steady Bang an 8/10 for its story and originality. There are a lot of cowboy games available on the app stores, but I have never seen or played a game like Ready Steady Bang before. For starters, the graphics are very original and minimalistic, and the game concept is one I have never seen before. I like the fact that the developers have implemented their own ideas, instead of copying ideas from other games. There is no story behind the game, but you are obviously a sheriff, who is on the lookout for outlaws.

 

General Gameplay: I give Ready Steady Bang an 8/10 for general gameplay. The gameplay of Ready Steady Bang does not have a tutorial at the beginning, but in my opinion, it does not really need one. Even casual gamers will be able to understand what they are supposed to do, due to the minimalistic game design. After a short period of time, the gameplay does become pretty straightforward, but luckily still entertaining due to the challenges within the game. There are a total of ten outlaws, all of whom are significantly more difficult than the one before them. Luckily, the controls are smooth and very responsive, which is needed in a game like Ready Steady Bang. The user interface fits the overall theme of the game very well.

 

Addictiveness: I give Ready Steady Bang a 6/10 for addictiveness. I wouldn’t say that Ready Steady Bang is a very addictive game. In my opinion, it is more of a time-killer game than anything else, which is not necessarily a bad thing. There are two game modes in Ready Steady Bang, a single player and a multiplayer. Unfortunately, there are only ten outlaws that you have to defeat, which is very challenging, but after that, you can only repeat duels with the same outlaws. It is nice to see that you can challenge a friend or a family member, and duel them on the same mobile device. After a while, the gameplay gets pretty boring, and you get turned off from the gameplay because of all the annoying pop-up advertisements.

 

All things considered, I give Ready Steady Bang a 7/10.
