First of all you want to upgrade your weapons as quickly as possible. They start you off with this pea shooter that reloads very slowly, a sure recipe for failure. If you have enough coins, upgrade to the assault rifle or one of the superior guns as quickly as you can, even before upgrading cars.

With these weapons caliber isn’t necessarily the determining factor but reload time is. Zombies are coming at you constantly from two, if not three directions. Behind you there is a hoard of ravenous zombies just waiting for your car to be slowed down just enough so they can reach you. In front of you there are also lone zombies that don’t travel in packs, if you shoot these zombies they will fall down and you can run over them no problem, however, if you didn’t kill them for whatever reason and you instead hit them with your car, they will slow you down immensely, thus allowing the zombies behind you to catch up.

Besides these two immediate dangers there’s also the occasional flying zombie, an anomaly unique to Zombie Road Trip of course, the flying zombie is equipped with a helicopter like device attatched to its back to capture you amidst you aerial travels to subsequently devour your brains. To derail this flying copter zombie, perform stunts while in the air, thus decapitating the undead flying object, and earning points while you’re at it.

Flips will earn you an immense amount of points which will tally up in the white bar at the top of the screen, once that bar is full you will be jet propelled faster and higher. When you’re turbo is initiated you will reach heights you could’ve only dreamed of before, take advantage of this and perform as many high flying flips and maneuvers as you can to earn maximum points.

In fact, you should be performing as many tricks and flips as you possibly can at all times. Be careful though, although performing tricks and flips midair is easy so easy a baby can do it, landing those tricks is what separates the novices from the true master zombie slayers. The better the landing is the more points you get, the worse the landing, the more you’re slowing yourself down to be devoured by zombies.

Don’t worry about keeping track of lives and ammunition though, Zombie Road Trip will give you unlimited ammunition and lives so long as the zombie horde behind you hasn’t gotten their hands on you yet. A hint to help you know how close the zombie mob is, pay attention to the skies. The nicer the sky looks (e.g. clear, blue, white clouds) the further away the zombies are, as they approach the skies, as well as the music, changes to reflect the eminent danger ( red sky, dark clouds, heavy metal).

If you hit the pause button mid game, you can see which missions are currently active for you. These are usually objectives that once completed will get you once coin each. Try to accomplish these to the best of your ability don’t force it though if you can’t complete a mission in that run it’ll be available to you until you complete it.

At the end of the race you have the option of participating in a wheel of fortune type scenario where you get a free spin on the wheel where you can win between 1-500 zombie coins. If you don’t get the result you want don’t worry about it, just whatever you do don’t waste your hard earned coins on spinning the wheel again.  There are only 3 out of around 12 options that can actually earn you money, considering it costs 100 coins to spin the wheel, many of the other prizes are so below he cost of the ticket (1,20,10 coins) that it’s not even worth spinning. Even though this is simulated gambling the same rules apply to a casino “The house always wins”.

Once you get the super boost when your points bar at the top of the screen is full, don’t worry about shooting down your enemies they will fall by the way side as you pummel them with your ride. Try and get as many head shots as possible as this will get you more points, also try to decapitate the zombies by either landing on top of them or clipping them with your car while you’re airborne.

To earn free coins, connect your social media accounts and share your achievements with your friends. This also has the added bonus of comparing your progress in Zombie Road Trip with that of your friends who are also playing. You can also watch advertisement videos on the home screen to earn 400 coins per video. This is a substantial amount of coins, more than you’ll earn in most races, so make sure to use this cheat as much as you can.

Zombie Road Trip Review

Zombie Road Trip is very fun and very addicting game. It has a retro feel to it and it has a great combination of witty and low brow humor to make you laugh and fall in love with its down to earth personality. The cars and guns are very creative and the music is exciting and appropriate for the apocalyptic theme.  

If only cars could be customized that would be a great addition, as well as the option to race against friends and strangers online like you find in some other infinite racing games like Fun Run.

I really liked the choice of 2 dimensional racing game with only 2 to three layers, it had a retro 80s steampunk feel. However there weren’t enough landscapes to make it not seem repetitive.

Music did a great job of reinforcing the genre however there were really only 2 tracks, three at most.

Story/ Originality 5/10

Nothing original has been done in the infinite running or zombie genres for a while now.

General Gameplay/ Controls 7/10

Very easy controls however there weren’t many options to keep the game interesting.

Very addictive, probably Zombie Road Trips most defining feature. It’s a simple game that’s fun to play.
