Moto Loko HD is a racing game developed by Foose Games, a company known for other apps such as Asphalt Bikers, MAMA Skate 4.0 or 3D Flappy Dragons. Moto Loko HD is only available on Android which makes it a platform exclusive. It has been downloaded for more than 10 million times and it has a rating of 3.7 out of 5 on Google Play. The game is optimized for mobile devices that are running an Android version of at least 2.2
Because the game doesn’t offer any info about your role in it, I decided to make suppositions inspired by the title. Apparently, you are a motorbike rider who is crazy (loko – Spanish or something) enough to ride a Great Race (even though it is an unlimited run) around a HD town (yeah, right) and your objective is to survive for as long as possible.
The game doesn’t require a mandatory sign-up and you can’t even link any existent social account with it. A cloud saving is out of discussion because Moto Loko HD doesn’t even require Google Play Services in order to play it. However, saving is not that important in the game because it only keeps a High Score which you can, if you really are that competitive, print screen it or something.
Moto Loko HD is an exclusively free game so it doesn’t have any microtransactions available in it. The game has a limited resource called Gas that must be refilled continuously so you can be able to continue your race but it can only be collected from the environment. Also, the Cash resource is not a currency and it only acts as a Total Score for the player.

Usually, when it comes to motorbikes games I am pretty subjective and tend to overrate them because I love bikes in real-life. However, when the game looks as bad as Moto Loko HD, I can’t help it in any way. The game has a lot of flaws and it was hard for me to find things that I can honestly say I like about it.
Firstly, one of the few things I like about Moto Loko HD is the fact that the game uses Gas as fuel and that you are not required to pay real-money for it, invite your friend to help you refill or other well-known shenanigans. I don’t know if the reason of not having this annoying little things implemented in Moto Loko HD is because the game doesn’t have any multiplayer capabilities but I guess it’s for the best this way.
Secondly, I like the fact that even the game is a lot simpler than I usually prefer, the mechanics are not that bad. You must focus on the road and collect your gas, nothing less, nothing more. In the end, another thing I appreciated about Moto Loko HD is the fact that the game offers the user the possibility of tilting the screen in order to steer. It may seem surprising but fewer and fewer games are considering this option viable anymore and I am personally a fan of it.
The things I don’t like about Moto Loko HD are a lot but I’ll try to point out the more important ones. For example, the zero customization the game has is something very disappointing. I wasn’t expecting any sensible engine mechanics and modifications but choosing from several colors and models would have been more than enough. Also (I think that I mention this to all small games I review):
I know that is hard to implement a multiplayer option because the coding is hard and not all the developers has the necessarily resources but achievements and some social account linking is not that hard and it can do wonders. I don’t mean the spamming that some apps does (I am looking at you Candy Crush) but a way of “socializing” with achievements from the game is great and people really appreciate it.
Moreover, in order to keep the players interested, Moto Loko HD needs more environment diversity. I know that the highway is the perfect choice for a motorbike to test its power but at least make it more entertaining. Add some other bikes, add a night-day cycle and add weather. They don’t have to be very detailed but the diversity is always good. Ultimately, the developers should work at the originality problem. There are too many similar games out there. They really need to add something weird and original – make the biker an alien for example, I don’t know…something.
Overall, Moto Loko HD is undoubtedly a game I wouldn’t recommend. It has little to none to offer to the player and the experience it offers you is mostly bad. The game is a big no-no at its current status.
Ratings:
Artwork: Moto Loko HD gets a rating of 6 out of 10 for its artwork. I don’t really understand what is HD about the game because it looks like an early 2000s PC game. The motorbike you are using is pretty detailed but there is a long way from having a decent looking motorbike to a high-definition game. The theme is too colorful for this type of games, the environment looks bad and pixelated and the incoming traffic is awful. I don’t understand why the developers keep trying to fool potential players who download a game just because the title says good graphics. There are thousands of apps on the market to choose from so focus on a great gameplay and people will come regardless the graphics of your game.
Music & SFX: I give the game a rating of 7 out of 10 at this section. Moto Loko HD is one of the few games that have a well-chosen soundtrack. Unfortunately this soundtrack consists of only one relatively short song that will repeat continuously until you get tired of it and eventually make you want to turn it off. Before the song starts to be annoying, you will realize that the atmosphere it creates is pretty good. The sound effects of the game are nothing more than average as they don’t stand out in any way. The music “department” is a part of Moto Loko HD that only needs to be slightly revised.
Story/Originality: Moto Loko HD gets an embarrassing rating of 5 out of 10 here. The game doesn’t have a story and there are at least dozens of similar apps that looks almost exactly the same. You don’t have anything new or original in Moto Loko HD. The fact that you start right in the middle of the action is not necessarily a bad thing but a brief introduction about who you are and what you do would have been a great addition. The game doesn’t have any content besides the default experience (we will talk more at Addictiveness) and it’s not authentic in any way.
General Gameplay: I give the game a rating of 7 out of 10. Surprisingly or not, I don’t have much to complain about the controls of Moto Loko HD. However, I really don’t appreciate when I must close the app because I can’t get past a frozen screen filled with ads or because the game becomes randomly unresponsive. On the other hand, I like that you tilt your device so you can steer but an implementation with buttons would have been nice too (there are people who have other preferences). Other than the problems I already mentioned, the game acts decent and it is very simple to understand its mechanics. You must not crash or ran out of fuel for as long as possible – no strings attached.
Addictiveness: Moto Loko HD gets a rating of 6 out of 10 at this section. To be honest, the game is not addictive at all. It lacks a purpose, an ending and extra content. Endless runs on the same lousy “map” may have been interesting years ago but in 2015 that is not the case. Besides a simple Hi-Score feature that doesn’t necessarily rely on the miles you drove, you have nothing. There are no extra features such as an achievement implementation, character or level progression, customization of the vehicle or, at least, getting more “maps” in order to make the surroundings not boring. Moto Loko HD is weird like that.
Overall, Moto Loko HD gets a rating of 6.2 out of 10. As I mentioned before, there are dozens of similar games on the market. Unfortunately, most of them are better than this one.
