The goal in City Island: Builder Tycoon is to construct a city to your own likings, and attract a lot of citizen to it, in order to make a lot of money. At the beginning of the gameplay, there is a tutorial that teaches you how to properly play the game, how to construct roads and houses and how to construct commercial buildings, in order to provide your citizen with work. After you have constructed a couple of buildings, you will notice that people start moving into your city, and you will see cars driving around on your roads.
At the top of your commercial buildings, you will occasionally see a Money Sign, which means that you can collect tax from those buildings by tapping on the sign. City Island: Builder Tycoon also has a lot of tasks, which you can complete in order to earn more in-game money.
Successfully completing tasks and constructing buildings in City Island: Builder Tycoon will also earn you experience points. After earning enough experience points, you will level up, which unlocks more buildings for you to construct and more features for you to use. For example, you will be able to construct better and bigger houses and better commercial buildings, which will attract wealthier people. This means that you will earn more in-game money in the long run.

City Island: Builder Tycoon In-game store
There are two different kinds of currencies in City Island: Builder Tycoon. The first currency is in the form of in-game money, which is the basic currency of the game and is easily obtainable by simply playing the game, constructing different kinds of buildings, successfully completing tasks and collecting tax from your citizen. The second currency is in the form of gold bars and is considered to be the premium currency of City Island: Builder Tycoon. Obtaining gold bars by playing the game is very difficult, because you will only receive them for successfully completing some very difficult tasks and achievements, and occasionally when you level up.
You can use both the in-game money and premium gold bars to purchase buildings and expand your city. There are six different categories in the in-game store. The first category is called Houses, in which you can purchase and construct different kinds of houses in order to be able to have more citizen in your city. The second category is called Commercial, in which you can purchase and construct buildings such as farms and different kinds of shop. All of the commercial buildings generate an income over time, which you can collect manually.
The third category is called Community, and in this category, you can purchase and construct buildings such as churches, schools and hospitals, which every city needs. The forth category is called Decorations, in which you can purchase different kinds of parks, fountains and flowers. Parks will keep your citizen happy, because they allow them to relax. The fifth category is called Expansions, in which you can purchase more plots of lands. These plots will be empty and neighboring your city, which allows you to construct more buildings and parks on them.
The sixth and last category is called Currencies, and in this category you can purchase in-game money and premium gold bars with real money, if you wish to do so. The price for in-game money starts at $2,99 for the smallest amount of 1.250.000 in-game money and goes up till $69,99 for the largest amount of 45.000.000 in-game money. The price for premium gold bars starts at $2,99 for the smallest amount of 25 gold bars and goes up till $69,99 for the largest amount of gold bars. The prices for in-game currency may be different on the iOS version of City Island: Builder Tycoon.
You can also earn free premium gold bars by either watching advertisement videos or completing offers through Tapjoy. The advertisement videos usually take anywhere between fifteen to thirty seconds, after which you will receive one premium gold bar. The offers through Tapjoy differ from one another; however, they usually entail that you have to either fill in a survey or download and try out another app or game. Once you have successfully completed the offer, you will be awarded with a set amount of premium gold bars.
There are a lot of websites on the internet that claim to be offering a working cheat tool, hack tool or modification for City Island: Builder Tycoon, which allegedly allows you to give yourself an unlimited amount of in-game money and premium gold bars. Of course, most, if not all of these websites are only out to scam you, because there is no way that such tools can even work. The websites that offer such tools are specifically designed to make people feel comfortable in downloading files off of it, while also tricking them with screenshots and videos of the so called cheat tools. However, what they do not tell you is that you have to fill in a survey before you are able to even download the so called cheat tool.
The owners of the fake cheat tool websites are only out to earn money for themselves, by making people fill in surveys for them. It might sound weird, but for every survey that gets filled in successfully, the owners of the fake cheat tool websites earn a lot of money. Now imagine that thousands of people fill in a survey, which basically means that the owners of those websites are swimming in money, and that’s all they want anyways. After you have filled in a survey and downloaded the so called cheat tool, you will quickly find out that you have been duped and that the files you have downloaded are nothing but empty text documents and images. Instead of wasting your time, trying to find working cheats for City Island: Builder Tycoon, I will give you some tips and tricks that will help you with your gameplay.
City Island: Builder Tycoon Gameplay Tips and Tricks
Like many other city-builder games, in City Island: Builder Tycoon you also need to wait a certain amount of time for your buildings and parks to be finished. You can either use your in-game money or premium gold bars to instantly finish actions and buildings; however, you will quickly run out of in-game currencies, which is very bad. Instead of wasting your in-game currencies on instantly finishing your actions and buildings, I will tell you about a little cheat that does the same, without you having to waste any of your hard earned currencies.
The little cheat is called the Time-Lapse cheat, which basically entails that you need to forward the time on your mobile device, in order to trick City Island: Builder Tycoon into thinking that a certain amount of time has really passed by. Before you use the time-lapse cheat, you need to make sure that City Island: Builder Tycoon is completely closed down and not running on the background. Once you have made sure of that, you need to go to the settings of your mobile device and forward the time by the amount of time that it takes to finish constructing your buildings and parks.
When you start the game again, you will notice that your actions are already completed, because the game thinks that a certain amount of time has already passed by. You can keep using the time-lapse cheat whenever you want, but when you are done playing City Island: Builder Tycoon, you should not forget to correctly change the time on your mobile device again.
I have played many city-builder simulation games over the past couple of years, and they all have similar graphics and gameplay. City Island: Builder Tycoon is no exception to that; however, I still found the game entertaining to play. This is due to the fact that the developers have added a lot of different buildings, parks and objects into the game, which you can purchase and construct in your city. I also like the fact that you have the freedom to create your city to your own wishes, without getting limited by the game itself.
One of the things I really like about City Island: Builder Tycoon is that you are not being forced to go through the tutorial. Even though the tutorial is very helpful, especially for casual mobile gamers, you can still tap on the Quit Tutorial button and just skip it, if you wish to do so. This option is very nice for people who simply want to start playing the game, without the hassle of going through a simple tutorial.
Another very positive aspect about City Island: Builder Tycoon is that the developers did not implement any kind of advertisements into the game. Normally, free-to-play games have either banners, pop-ups, videos or all three of them implemented into them, just so that the developers can earn some money. However, many developers go overboard when it comes to implementing advertisements, and they basically ruin their own game, just to be able to generate an income for themselves. Luckily, this is not the case with City Island: Builder Tycoon, which means that you can play the game without getting annoyed or obstructed by ads.
Unfortunately, City Island: Builder Tycoon also has several negative aspects. For starters, the game has playtime limitations in it, in the form of construction timers. In order to be able to construct buildings, parks and other types of objects, you will have to wait a certain amount of time for them to be completed. Of course, you can instantly complete them by spending in-game money or premium gold bars; however, you can quickly run out of them, which means that you either have to purchase them with real money, or you slowly have to save them up by playing the game. It feels like the developers of City Island: Builder Tycoon are trying to make their players impatient, and force them to purchase in-game currencies with real money. They should know that not everyone is able to spend money on a free-to-play game, and instead of punishing them, they should reward loyal players for spending time playing the game.
The second negative aspect about City Island: Builder Tycoon is that the developers of the game are literally copying their own game ideas, and releasing games with a different title, but the same kind of gameplay and graphics. I would understand it if the developers released more of the same games, if they had more features added to them or at least some different themes. However, I have at least played two other games by the same game developers that were very similar to City Island: Builder Tycoon, which makes this game feel like a cheap cash grab.
City Island: Builder Tycoon Ratings
Artwork: I give City Island: Builder Tycoon a 7/10 for its artwork. The graphics in City Island: Builder Tycoon are pretty decent, but very similar to other city-builder simulation games. I really like the fact that there are so many different animations in the game, such as when you see people moving into your city and tiny cars driving around on the roads that you have just constructed. The graphics and animations are fitted together very nicely.
Music & SFX: I give City Island: Builder Tycoon a 7/10 for its music and SFX. City Island: Builder Tycoon has several different soundtracks and sound effects. The soundtracks play in a constant loop, but I really like the fact that they occasionally change. Both the soundtracks and sound effects are easy on the ears, which means that they will not bother, annoy or bore anyone while they are playing City Island: Builder Tycoon.
Story & Originality: I give City Island: Builder Tycoon a 3/10 for its story and originality. I can’t really give City Island: Builder Tycoon a high rating for its originality or story, due to the fact that there are literally dozens of the same game, with the same game mechanics and graphics, available on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store. The developers of City Island: Builder Tycoon have even released multiple other city-builder games, with very similar graphics and game concepts. This leads me to believe that the developers are only out to earn a quick buck, by released multiple games that are basically the same. There is also no story behind City Island: Builder Tycoon, except for the text that you read when you go through the tutorial.
General Gameplay: I give City Island: Builder Tycoon a 7/10 for general gameplay. The gameplay in City Island: Builder Tycoon begins with a tutorial, which you can skip if you want to. After a while, the gameplay becomes pretty straightforward, but still pretty entertaining due to all the different buildings that you can construct. I really like the fact that you can expand your city, whenever you have enough money. The controls are smooth and responsive and the user interface fits the overall theme of the game very nicely.
Addictiveness: I give City Island: Builder Tycoon a 7/10 for addictiveness. It is very fortunate to see that the developers of City Island: Builder Tycoon did not implement any kind of advertisement into the game. However, I really dislike the fact that there are construction-timers in the game, which really slows down the pace and ruins the gameplay in my opinion.
All things considered, I give City Island: Builder Tycoon a 6/10.
