CSR Racing is a racing car game by Natural Motion Games, the developer of numerous titles in various genres, such as CSR Classics, Clumsy Ninja, My Horse, Jenga or Backbreaker Football.
CSR Racing has a rating of 4.4/5 stars on the Google Play Store, while it has 4.5/5 stars on the Apple App Store. The game has been downloaded over 100 million times, proving it to be one of the most popular racing titles on the market. Does it really provide such an addicting gameplay? Let’s go ahead and find out!
CSR Racing is a more heavily story reliant game than most other racing titles, which shows from the first moment you take a step into the game’s menus. As you are new in town, the local racing fanatics ask you to prove yourself as a driver in a few tests. After you have proven yourself, a sponsor sees some potential in you and gifts you 25,000 cash to buy your own car. Once you have your car, the city awaits with countless racing challenges and the local crews to beat.
CSR Racing uses various currencies, like gold, cash, gas, and chips. These are very expensive. You can get only 30 gold or 15,000 cash for $2.99. You’ll need a lot more to win at CSR Racing. Download our free CSR Racing hack tool to easily and freely get gold, cash, gas, and chips.
It’s very easy to use. Take a look at the image below to see how quick and easy using our CSR Racing hack tool is. Just enter the amount of cash, gold, gas, and chips you want.

To find your way around you will have to go to the city map, which is divided into 5 Tiers. Each tier has multiple types of races and a theme both in cars and the local crews. Tier 1 has mostly high end road cars, Tier 2 has low end sports cars, while Tier 3 has high end and special edition sports cars. Tier 4 is the home to low end racing cars, while Tier 5 is full of high end racing cars and Track cars.
Before commenting on the available race types, let’s cover how the gameplay works in CSR Racing. As you start any type of race, you car will be matched with an opposing racer’s car, be it computer controlled or an enemy player, depending on the race. You have to start revving your engines, while a countdown starts from 3 to 1. Once the countdown finishes, you have to make sure your engines are revved perfectly, which is indicated by a green light, then step on the gas pedal. Once the race has started, you will have to keep shifting at the right times, indicated by green lights until the finish line. If you shift too early or too late, that means loss of speed and momentum, but shifting just in time helps you keep your speed at max.
Now, when you start at Tier 1 on the map, you will have the following race types unlocked, as you progress in the game: Regulation races, where you have to choose from three difficulty levels, gaining rewards based on that. Ladder races, where you are set against 24 different computer controlled racers on each Tier, becoming more and more difficult by each rank. Then you have the Daily Battle, which is a race where you use a specified car instead of your own and have to finish a race with it. This can be repeated every 4 hours from then on, until the next day’s challenge is on.
Other than those, you have the Race Your Friends mode, where you can challenge your Facebook friends and rank on leaderboards against them, while it’s also possible to unlock limited edition cars. From Tier 2 and on you will also unlock Restriction Races, where only specific car parts and upgrades can be used to race, or you can even go on Car and Manufacturer specific races, where only the chosen car or manufacturer’s vehicles can be used.
While the previous races all provide some challenge, the most important races in CSR Racing are the Crew Battles, no doubt about that. The city is controlled by 5 different Crews, each owning one of the 5 tiers. These crews are the Fangz, Iron Samurai, Stallion Riders, War Pigs and Silver Skulls. Each crew is made up of 4 members and a boss, each of which you will have to beat in a race to progress the story. Once you defeated all 5 Tier’s crews, you can go on a World Tour, facing new crews from around the world.
The game also has a Multiplayer mode, where players face off against eachother in drag races. When you enter the competition, 6 opponents are chosen based on your car’s overall rating. If you manage to win 3 or more races in a row, then you get RP card rewards, which can be exchanged for randomly chosen prizes such as car parts, cash, gold or gas refills. If that’s not enough, there are also seasonal prizes in each monthly multiplayer season. High ranking players can win gold and even a monthly special car.
It’s also good to keep in mind that each race’s difficulty can be seen in its description on the map. Be it singleplayer Crew Battles, Ladder races or Multiplayer, all of them have a difficulty indicator, so you won’t take on something impossible.
Now, I mentioned gas refills and car parts, but what are those about? Gas is required to start any type of race in CSR Racing. You start with 10 gas pips and each race removes 1. If you run out of gas, you either have to wait for a few minutes for it to slowly restore, pay 2 gold to fully restore it, or you can watch an ad to gain 1 pip. Another option is to upgrade your gas tank for $3.99, or to buy 24 hours long unlimited gas for $2.99.
Car parts on the other hand are way more interesting, as they are the cash upgrades for your car. Going to the garage will allow you to add new parts or upgrade existing ones for cash. These can be Engine upgrades, Turbo, Intake, Body, Tires, Transmission and Nitrous. While the first few only change the stats of your car, Nitrous adds a short boost of speed, which you can activate on each race from then on.
You can also customize your car in CSR Racing, with the use of paintjobs, decals and license plates. Paintjobs are free and they simply change the color of your car, while decals truly customize your car with various figures, stripes and logos for cash and gold. Each of these decals also provide you with a cash boost for each won race while using them. License plates can also be rewritten to your liking, but only by spending gold.
Of course there is a Car Dealer in the game as well, where you can purchase new cars from different real life brands such as BMW or Alfa Romeo. Most of these can be bought with cash, while some might also have an alternate gold cost.
Since a lot of things cost the premium currency of gold, you can purchase both gold and cash for real money. Gold and cash packs start from $2.99 for 30 gold or 15,000 cash, while the biggest package costs $79.99 for 1650 gold 1,000,000 cash. There is a free option to download sponsored apps to gain gold, while you also get some for leveling up and beating crew bosses.
To become the best at CSR Racing you either have to spend a lot of time on it and buy countless upgrades, or utilize cheats. Thankfully the game itself provides players with cheats, while more exclusive ones might also be found, if you know where to look. Read on to find out about these, or if you just want some tips!
The first and possibly one of the most useful cheats the game offers is the boosts from the Mechanic on the map. You can get a boost for 5, 10 or 15 races from him, by spending a small amount of gold. These boosts maximize your car’s engine for the next few races, turning even a pretty slow car into an extremely fast racecar.
As for some general tips, you should always keep track of your current cash and the available upgrades. One of the game’s characters will also notify you when you have enough cash to buy a new car part upgrade, so take advantage of that! Advancing in most races is impossible after a while, if you are not upgrading.
Regarding the story races, aka Crew Battles, these will be one of the hardest experiences in the game, except for Multiplayer. These crew members have very powerful and advanced cars and you will have to play Regulation races, Ladder races and Daily Battles before doing them. You can always take a look at the difficulty level of each member, so you won’t take on anything too hard. Generally “Easy” and “Challenging” opponents are beatable, but even “Hard” is doable with the boost cheats.
As for gaining some free gold in CSR Racing, you have the option to download sponsored apps, level up and win against crew bosses. Other than that you can also get 3 gold if you login to Facebook, which also gets you a limited edition car, so it’s definitely worth it.
CSR Racing is a drag racing game, where instead of being in full control of the car, your reflexes are put to the test. Revving up the engines and shifting in time is the interactive gameplay, of which I have a somewhat mixed opinion.
Let me start with the fact that I haven’t played an extensive amount of racing games before, but anytime I do, I tend to enjoy them. The drag racing games on the other hand somewhat disappoint me, as taking away full control of a car is less fun than having the whole race’s outcome depend on myself.
Anyway, when I first got into CSR Racing, I was met with a few story characters, showing me around and asking me to prove myself. I soon got a nice car as well, with money from a sponsor, so everything seemed to start out well. Then they came, the local crew members, who aimed to ruin everything. Since these are their streets, they wanted me gone, or I had to beat each of them in a race.
Well, before being able to have any chance against the first crew, I had to play the other race types such as Regulation, which was pretty easy, and Ladder, a little more challenging one. The Ladder races even required me to upgrade my car after a while, as progressing past the 5th opponent seemed impossible with my basic car.
After tuning my car’s parts and also choosing a unique looking decal, I felt confident. I took on the first crew member and finally beat him. This was only the start though, as I had 4 more left, one of them being the boss. It took a long time to get past the first crew and pass Tier 1, but it was worth it, as this meant that Multiplayer races also got unlocked.
Multiplayer seemed to be mostly balanced on my beginner level, as it only matched me with people close in power, with similar cars. It was still pretty hard to beat any of them, as their cars were usually greatly tuned. I still managed to both have success and failure, but the overall experience was positive. Although people from higher levels seem to be complaining about how the game is unfair and players who spend real money are much stronger. I can see this happen, but on lower levels this is less of an issue, fortunately.
Overall, my opinion is pretty much positive of CSR Racing, as it’s probably one of the best drag racing games out there. Controls and most gameplay mechanics are very responsive, while the races are challenging and fun. The only negative thing is probably the fact that progress is pretty slow and you have to repeat some races at times to gain cash.
Ratings
Artwork: The artwork of CSR Racing gets a 7/10. This game uses the same design as most racing games nowadays, with a style that focuses heavily on the cars and less on the backgrounds and racetracks. This causes cars to be highly detailed, while the environments are a little lower resolution. Fortunately the overall look is pleasing.
Music & SFX: The music and SFX of this title deserves an 8/10. The music in the menu reminds me of city nightlife, full of energy, and it pumps the player for the inevitable races to come. The realistic car sounds of the SFX is also pretty awesome.
Story & Originality: The story and originality of the game gets an 8/10. While drag racing games are not even close to a new idea, the overall presentation and the inclusion of a storyline is perfect in CSR Racing. The crews are interesting and unique, while the friendly story characters are certainly helpful.
General Gameplay: As for the general gameplay, I give it an 7/10. The gameplay could be perfect in this game, but there are still some small issues that prevent it. The long time it takes for progression and the somewhat grindy notion of replaying races is a bit annoying, as well as the possibility for paying players to dominate others in high level multiplayer. On the other hand the number of race types, the crew storylines, the multiplayer RP cards system and the seasonal car rewards provide a truly enjoyable experience
Addictiveness: For the addictiveness of this game, it gets an 8/10. There is always something to come back for, be it the Crew Battles, to finish the Ladder races, rank in the multiplayer leaderboards or just to play a fast race without worries. The gas pip system on the other hand is a little counterintuitive, as it slows gameplay down, but thankfully there are multiple ways to refill it.
Overall Score: 7/10.
